Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 – Final Confrontation

The Argonaut trembled slightly as it orbited above Elysium Colony, tension thick in the air. Sensors blared with the unmistakable presence of the Vagan ace and his fleet, converging on a single point. This was no longer a skirmish or testing ground—this was the decisive battle.

Leon Hartmann gripped the Aegis controls, heart hammering. "This ends today. We've prepared, we've adapted, and we're ready. Trident, stay sharp. Every maneuver, every strike must be perfect."

Mira Solenne's Valkyrie thrusters flared as she responded instantly. "Understood. We've come this far together—we're finishing this."

Rika Hartmann in Bastion adjusted her targeting systems, voice steady and resolute. "No retreat, no hesitation. This is the final test of everything we've learned."

Rolf Brenner's calm, commanding voice resonated over the comms. "Trust in your training, in your instincts, and in each other. This is the moment your unity is tested. Make it count."

The Vagan ace emerged, black Gundam-class suit gleaming under the distant starlight, flanked by a swarm of black support units. His movements were precise, adaptive, and almost inhuman—but the Trident had studied him long enough to anticipate his strategies.

"Engage!" Leon shouted, and the Aegis lunged forward.

Valkyrie darted to the left, slashing through the first wave of reinforcements. Bastion's heavy cannons rained down fire from the rear, cutting off escape routes. Leon maneuvered the Aegis into position, beam rifle primed for precision strikes.

The ace pilot twisted, launching a barrage at the Aegis. Leon dodged with perfect timing, the Aegis spinning, flipping, and weaving through space. Valkyrie executed a feint from the left, drawing the ace's attention, while Bastion fired a synchronized volley from the right.

For the first time, the ace faltered under the coordinated assault. Sparks flew from the black armor as the Aegis' beam struck its side, forcing it to twist violently.

"Now!" Leon shouted. "Trident formation delta!"

Valkyrie flanked aggressively, Bastion closed the rear, and the Aegis pushed forward, forcing the ace into a tight trap. The black suit struggled to maneuver, support units falling around it. Leon's pulse raced—every maneuver he had practiced, every sequence drilled, converged in this single moment.

With a precise thrust, the Aegis struck the ace's armor at a weak point, energy beams converging from all directions. The black suit erupted in sparks and energy flares, staggered, and then collapsed.

The Vagan ace's retreat was finally halted. The support units disabled, the black Gundam-class suit immobilized, Leon and the Trident units had won.

Silence returned to orbit. The Argonaut floated, quiet now, engines humming softly. Leon exhaled, chest heaving. "It's over… he's finally defeated."

Mira hovered nearby, Valkyrie still glowing from battle. "We did it… together."

Rika's voice was soft but firm. "All our training, all our teamwork… it paid off."

Rolf Brenner's voice, calm but heavy with pride, echoed over the comms. "This is victory earned through skill, coordination, and trust. You've not just defeated an ace—you've proven the strength of your unity. Remember this moment. Let it guide you forward."

Leon placed a hand on the Aegis' arm, feeling the weight and presence of the machine beneath him. "We survived, we adapted, and we won. No matter what comes next, we face it together. Always together."

Outside, the void remained indifferent, stars glittering coldly. But inside the Argonaut, a fire burned brighter than any light. The Trident had grown, evolved, and triumphed. And for Leon Hartmann and his team, this victory was only the beginning—a sentinel of hope standing firm against the darkness.
