Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 — Combat Training Class (III)

Few moments prior...

Leo 'stared' at the commotion occurring currently with Ian at the center of it.

Currently he was 'glancing' at Ian's file on his tablet. And it didn't take much time till he found it.

'Ian Aragon. Third son of Reinold Aragon, the head of the Aragon family. Hmm. His level cap is...'

Leo searched through the information before finding it causing his closed eyes to widen. 'Level 178. Around the same as Aaron huh. Guess that's another target I have to eliminate.' He concluded upon seeing the information.

Level 178. That was a ridiculously high level, especially in a world where most people wouldn't cross Level 80.

And with the insanely broken gift those of the Aragon family had, a Level 178, well-trained Aragon would be a monster of a different caliber.

Closing the tablet, he couldn't help but sigh as he felt like his workload would be increasing.

Just then, he felt a little surge in aura. 'Seems like they're already taking this too far.' He thought as he stood from where he sat, as he picked and unsheathed his sword, a kodachi.

Then, he took one step and vanished appearing behind Ian whose hands were raised and was about to attack Aaron.

His blade instantly fell on Ian's neck, it's cold feel and sharpness instantly snapping Ian back to the reality of his situation.

"I believe I said... no shenanigans today." Leo spoke, his voice cold and authoritative.

Cold sweat fell down Ian's face as he could feel the cold, unrelenting sensation of death around him.

That was the feeling Leo gave him.

But he soon regained his composure as he deactivated his gift. "We were simply playing around Instructor. Nothing serious." Ian 'explained'.

Leo removed his blade upon Ian's 'explanation' as Ian still glared at him but he was more apathetic to it.

"I didn't say you couldn't fight. But if you're gonna fight, then..." he turned his head toward Aaron who had drawn his sword upon instinct when Ian activated his gift.

'Quick reaction. This kid's good. No wonder he's highly rated by the generals.' Leo noted inwardly. "...no weapons. And no gifts either. Also this is not an official duel. You're still in class."

At the gifts part, he turned toward Ian as well.

"That's fine by me." Ian said, stylishly cleaning the sweat on his neck as he grinned at Leo's suggestion.

"No thank you. Like I said earlier, I'm not interest–" Aaron's words were interrupted as a fist suddenly appeared before his face.

Whoosh!

He barely avoided the blow as it left a scratch and a small blood trail on his face.

Aaron's face soon twisted into anger as he now was suddenly ready to fight Ian as he got into a fighting stance.

"Fine. I already put one heir in his place. What's one more." He said as he channeled aura to his feet and...

Whoosh!

His figure blurred before reappearing in front of Ian as he threw a punch at him.

'Fast.' Ian thought as he tilted his body, narrowly avoiding the blow, then he grabbed the arm that threw the punch as he wrapped it under his armpit.

"Learned this move from Astrea over there." Ian said as he aimed his fist at Aaron's locked arm.

Whoosh!

But he abandoned that plan as he saw Aaron's free arm rushing at him with full force as he released his hand and jumped backward with Aaron hitting nothing but air.

"Tsk. Not bad. Maybe you are a bit competent afterall." Ian commented as he bounced left and right then...

Whoom!

He launched at Aaron at abnormal speeds appearing before him in an instant as he threw his left hand from below.

Aaron moved to guard it but suddenly Ian switched to attack with his right hand from above.

'Wha–?!' Aaron couldn't complete the thought as he barely blocked in time.

BOOM!!

The force of the blow caused a little shockwave causing Aaron's feet to dig into the ground and his knees to almost buckle under the force.

"Well, well. You sure look comfy right now don't you, peasant." Ian stated, his cocky grin back on his face.

***********

'That's insane.' Ryan thought as he watched the exchange. 'Are they actually first years?' He couldn't help but question.

He wasn't the only one. Almost all the other first years had stopped their spar to watch Aaron and Ian's fight, and they all thought the same thing.

'Monsters.' That was it. Both of them were clearly a cut above the rest. The first and second ranked first year cadets.

'Aaron. I hope you know what you're doing.' Monica thought as she watched the fight.

G.A.I.A asked.

'If it's simply hand to hand combat, I don't see a future Aaron beats Ian. With gifts tho, it most likely ends in Aaron's favor.' Ryan answered.

[]

'Simple. Aaron is an emissary. Ian isn't.'

*********

CRACK!

Ian's blow landed on the bare ground as Aaron leaped backward to avoid it. The resulting force of the blow caused a crack to form on the ground.

"Haa, haa." Aaron panted heavily. There were multiple scratches and minor bleeding over his body as he gazed at his opponent who barely had any at all.

"Guess you're not like the other heirs who are all just talk. And yet..." Aaron said as he paused toward the end of his sentence.

"And yet..." Ian repeated after him in a mocking manner. "What's the matter? Cat got your tongue?"

"...Your attitude is exactly like theirs." Aaron muttered as a golden white light enveloped his body healing his injuries.

"Enough of this child's play. You wanna go? Fine. Make an official challenge." Aaron said as his hair began floating upward with the light.

As he said that, constructs made of light began forming around him.

"A fight with our gifts? I'm in." Ian said as he reached for the broach on his chest.

Then...

SHATTER!!

Suddenly all the constructs made of light instantly shattered and a hand grabbed Ian's hand that was reaching for the broach.

"Alright. That's enough." Leo declared, his hand squeezing Ian's with great force.

Ian glared at Leo. "Instructor, the academy's guidelines allow for duels to take place provided both participants are willing. And no outside force may intervene." Ian said, annoyance dripping in his tone.

"Is that so? Well I don't particularly care. This is my class Mr. Aragon. You will not do as you please here." Leo retorted, gradually growing annoyed now at the boy's attitude.

Ian simply glared at Leo for a moment as a silence seemed to envelope the yard. He then glared at Aaron who seemed to have powered down then...

"Very well." He said as Leo released his hand. "Consider yourself lucky Cresswell." He said walking back to join the class despite the awkward atmosphere.

"Well then, if there are no further interruptions, carry on." Leo said as he disappeared, reappearing under the tree he originally sat under as he sat down again and watched the class awkwardly go back to their sparring lesson.

"Aaron Creswell." Leo muttered. "Quite the interesting individual seeing as he seems to hate the great houses as well." He added as he rubbed his chin with his singular remaining hand.

"Wonder if Miranda can recruit him."
