Adelyn stared at him, her brows knitting together.
"What else did you think I was asking?"
Karl pursed his lips into a thin line, rendered completely speechless.
He slowly sat back down and covered his face with one hand.
"I definitely didn't think you were asking that, sister-in-law. I thought you were asking about yourself. And I answered for the same."
"Same?" Adelyn repeated, her brows furrowing deeper. "How's that the same?"
Karl removed his hand from his face and looked at her. "Of course, it's the same. You're Eira's mother. How's that different?"
Adelyn glared at him.
Karl immediately realized that he needed to choose his words more carefully.
He hurried to explain his assumption, "I mean, Eira calls you Mama, and you love her like a mother loves her child. You're even my brother's woman. So, it's practically the same thing, isn't it?"
Adelyn stared at him.
And suddenly, the clouded misunderstanding in her thoughts started clearing.
