Edic lifted his gaze, his glasses resting low on the bridge of his nose as he silently studied the young man seated across from him. A file lay open in his hand, giving the impression that he was reviewing its contents, but in truth, his attention was entirely elsewhere —fixed on whatever strange mood this young lord had walked in with today.
Ethan sat there, saying nothing.
That, in itself, was unusual enough to be alarming.
When the silence stretched to a point where Edic found it unbearable, he snapped the file shut a little louder than necessary. The sound echoed lightly through the office, sharp enough to demand attention.
"Alright," he said, leaning forward against his desk and fixing Ethan with a direct look. "Who the hell offended you?" His tone carried a mix of curiosity and amusement. "Come on, tell me. This older brother of yours will make sure they regret it."
Ethan's brows immediately drew together into a frown.
