Adelyn paused for a moment, not quite understanding what he meant.
But she felt it … something deeper beneath his words.
Before she could ask anything, he gestured past her and said, "Aren't you going to invite me inside, Ms. Grace?"
Adelyn blinked, snapping out of her thoughts.
Only then did she realize that she had kept him standing at the door the entire time.
It was embarrassing —but she quickly soothed herself. Inviting him had never been part of her plan. He had inserted himself into it, and she couldn't refuse him now.
"Mr. Warren, please come in", she said, stepping aside to let him enter.
As he walked past her, Adelyn found herself watching him from behind.
His back was perfectly built, his shoulders strong and broad —he looked like someone who spent time in the gym, shaping himself to such perfection.
But that wasn't the only reason she was observing him so closely.
It was the way he moved inside her home.
As if he had been there before.
