Chapter 3 - Unnamed

It looks like you're ready for the next part of the story! Since we haven't established the first two chapters yet, I've written a Chapter 3 that works as a "point of no return."

In this chapter, the mystery from the first two parts turns into a real, physical threat.

Chapter 3: The Cold Invitation

The silence in the house wasn't empty anymore; it felt heavy, like a lung holding its breath.

Arjun stood at the top of the basement stairs, the flashlight in his hand flickering. Below, the water he had discovered in Chapter 2 had risen. It wasn't just clear tap water anymore—it was thick, dark, and smelled faintly of old copper and wet earth.

"Is someone there?" he whispered.

His voice didn't echo. It felt swallowed by the shadows. Then, he heard it: a soft thump-drag, thump-drag coming from the corner where the old boiler sat.

He moved the beam of light slowly. It passed over his old bike, the chrome handle reflecting a distorted version of his terrified face. Then the light hit the wall. The wallpaper—the one he'd just painstakingly replaced—was peeling back in long, wet strips. Underneath, there were no bricks. There was only a door.

A door that hadn't been there yesterday.

It was small, made of dark, unpolished wood, and it was slightly ajar. From the crack, a single, pale hand reached out. It wasn't moving to attack; it was resting on the floor, palm up, as if waiting for him to take it.

The temperature in the basement dropped so fast Arjun could see his breath. The "drinking water" business he had dreamed of starting suddenly felt like a sick joke. This water wasn't for drinking. It was a tide, and it was bringing something back from the deep.

The hand twitched. A voice, sounding like grinding stones, rasped from behind the door.

"You invited us in, Papa. Why are you trembling?"

Arjun backed away, but the basement door behind him slammed shut. The lock clicked. He was no longer the owner of this house. He was the guest.

What happens next?

* Option A: Arjun finds a way to use his photography gear to "capture" the ghost in a flash of light.

* Option B: The water starts filling the room rapidly, forcing him to open the mysterious small door to escape.

* Option C: He realizes the voice belongs to someone he thought was long gone.

Which path should we take for Chapter 4?
