Chapter 49 - Season 3 – Chapter 13 – “The Night She Walked Away”

The rain didn't slow down.

It poured harder, heavier… like the sky itself refused to hold back.

Meher walked out of the building without looking back.

Not at Aarav.

Not at Reyaan.

Not at Rishan.

For the first time—

She chose herself.

Her steps were fast at first.

Then slower.

Then she stopped.

Right in the middle of the empty road.

Rain soaking her completely.

Her mind replayed everything—

The lies.

The silence.

The half-truths.

"I don't need protection… I need truth," she whispered again.

But no one had given her that.

Not fully.

Behind her, footsteps echoed.

Aarav.

"Meher, wait!"

She closed her eyes for a second… then turned.

"Don't," she said quietly.

But he stopped anyway.

Not too close.

Not too far.

Just enough distance to show—

He didn't want to lose her again.

"I was going to tell you," Aarav said.

"When?" she asked.

He didn't have an answer.

That silence…

Spoke louder than anything.

"I came here because I was worried about you," he continued.

"I trusted you," she replied.

"And I broke that," he admitted.

No excuses.

No defense.

Just truth.

For a moment, neither spoke.

Only the rain filled the space between them.

"I wasn't hiding it to hurt you," Aarav said softly.

"I was trying to understand it first… so I could protect you."

Meher shook her head slowly.

"That's the problem, Aarav."

Her voice wasn't angry anymore.

It was tired.

"You decided what I needed… without asking me."

That hit him.

Hard.

"You always do this," she continued.

"You carry everything alone… and think that's love."

"And you shut me out when things get hard," he replied quietly.

Now it was her turn to fall silent.

Because he wasn't wrong either.

They stood there, soaked in rain and truth.

Two people who loved each other…

But were learning how to not hurt each other.

"I don't know what's right anymore," Meher said.

"Neither do I," Aarav admitted.

Another pause.

Then she took a small step back.

"I need time."

The words felt heavier than goodbye.

Aarav nodded slowly.

"I'll be here," he said.

Not chasing.

Not forcing.

Just… staying.

She turned and walked away.

This time—

He didn't follow.

Because sometimes love isn't about holding on.

Sometimes…

It's about letting someone go without losing them.

Across the street, under a dim streetlight—

Someone was watching.

A shadow.

Unfamiliar.

Silent.

And dangerous.

The storm wasn't over.

It had just changed direction.
