Chapter 133: Tower of Justice – Nami vs. Kalifa: Thunder vs. Bubbles
Using Weatheria's detection function to lock onto the enemy's location, Nami leaped upward without hesitation and flew straight to the door. She kicked it open cleanly—but saw no one inside. Only the clear sound of running water came from within.
"??? Is someone… taking a shower in there?" She froze for a moment in bewilderment, fists clenched warily.
"Please wait a moment. I'll finish dressing right away." Kalifa's calm voice came from behind the screen, sounding as natural as if she were receiving an unexpected guest.
Nami had never encountered a situation like this before. Though full of suspicion, she feared rushing in might fall into a trap. So she held back for the moment, staring intently at the movement behind the screen.
Not long after, Kalifa emerged fully dressed in her professional outfit. She adjusted her glasses with a slightly teasing tone: "I didn't expect you to be so polite, little sister. In all my years as an agent, you're the first pirate who's this easy to talk to."
"Ah! You really were taking a bath just now?! Damn it!" Nami finally reacted, stomping her feet in fury, feeling like a complete fool. "If I'd known, I would've thrown a thunderbolt in there first and fried you!"
"Shave!"
Kalifa's figure blurred. In an instant she appeared right in front of Nami, her long right leg whipping through the air with a fierce kick.
Smack!
Nami reacted extremely quickly, raising her leg to block precisely. The impact rang through the air. She raised an eyebrow and sneered coldly: "You were so polite just now—now you're attacking without even saying hello?"
"I didn't expect you to have some skill," Kalifa said, pushing up her glasses with a hint of surprise in her tone. But her attacks didn't slow at all. Her footsteps shifted rapidly; her legs lashed out like a storm of continuous kicks.
"Don't look down on me!" Nami dodged and blocked while counterattacking fiercely. "Don't think I'll go easy just because we're both women!"
The two clashed fiercely—figures intertwining, fists and feet meeting. In just a short moment, they had already exchanged seven or eight blows, evenly matched for the time being. Kalifa realized Nami was far more troublesome than expected. Her eyes narrowed sharply; she suddenly changed tactics. Her right hand formed a finger blade and fired a swift "Finger Pistol" straight at Nami's left shoulder!
Nami remained calm in crisis. With an agile side flip she narrowly evaded the strike. The moment she landed, she spun and kicked out—striking Kalifa's wrist and forcing her back several steps.
Kalifa steadied herself and immediately raised her leg, firing a fierce Tempest Kick slash. Nami didn't retreat—she countered with a Tempest Kick of her own. In midair, the two vacuum slashes collided head-on, canceling each other out in a burst of shockwaves.
"I didn't expect you to know the Six Powers too…" Kalifa pushed up her glasses, tone carrying a trace of astonishment. "But then again, that 'Fire Dragon' is on your ship. It's normal for him to teach you the Six Powers."
"Hmph—scared now?" Nami lifted her chin, seizing the chance to apply pressure. "Hand over the key obediently, or when I beat you up and take it, you won't look so dignified."
"Is that so?" Kalifa suddenly showed a meaningful smile. "Then how do you feel right now?"
"What do you mean 'how do I feel'?" Nami was momentarily confused, but her attacks didn't stop. Her right hand clenched as though holding something; a blazing lightning spear rapidly condensed in her palm, crackling with electricity.
"Lightning Spear!"
She hurled the spear with force. Dazzling electric light tore through the air straight toward Kalifa!
BOOM!!!
The entire room was instantly swallowed by blinding thunder light. Electric snakes danced wildly; the roar was deafening. But when the thunder light gradually faded, a transparent wall made of countless bubbles quietly dissipated, revealing an unscathed Kalifa behind it.
"That really startled me…" She lightly brushed foam from her shoulder, tone still calm. "I didn't expect to almost get struck by lightning inside a room."
Seeing Kalifa unharmed, Nami prepared to condense another lightning spear—but suddenly a powerful wave of weakness surged up from her feet. Her body swayed; she nearly collapsed to the ground. In that moment full of openings, Kalifa appeared before her like a phantom.
"Golden Bubble."
Kalifa's hands danced like butterflies over Nami's body. Instantly Nami felt her entire body covered in an extremely slippery layer of bubbles. Her skin became abnormally smooth, yet she couldn't muster any strength at all—she collapsed softly to the ground. "How is it?" Kalifa looked down at her with a playful tone. "Your skin right now is beautifully smooth… enviable, really. But correspondingly, you can't stand, and your attack power is halved."
"Huh? It's the bubbles from earlier…" Nami tried to struggle up, but her body was so slippery she kept sliding back down. "So you're a Devil Fruit user who ate something like soap bubbles?"
"Correct. I ate the Bubble-Bubble Fruit—I'm the Bubble Human." Kalifa admitted calmly, then her eyes sharpened. "Just accept your defeat—Tempest Kick!" She raised her leg and fired a sharp slash straight toward Nami's waist!
"What?! Zoan type?!" Kalifa exclaimed in shock as Nami—right at the critical moment—transformed dramatically into a thunderbird wrapped in lightning. With one flap of her wings, she evaded the Tempest Kick with ease.
"Back to normal!" Nami happily flapped her wings, glancing down at her sharp talons before shifting back to hybrid form. She hovered in midair, grinning down at Kalifa: "Then let's keep fighting, pretty big sister!"
"That lightning just now… you're a Mythical Zoan type?" Though Kalifa's tone was questioning, her eyes already confirmed it. "I never expected such a rare Mythical Zoan—rarer than Logia—to appear here."
Nami didn't answer. She simply flapped her wings fiercely. In an instant, blazing bolts of lightning poured down like a rainstorm toward Kalifa!
"Soap Wall!"
Kalifa gave a light shout. A protective wall of dense bubbles rapidly rose, barely blocking the violent thunder strikes.
"Soap Sheep Cloud – Relaxing Bubbles!"
She immediately changed tactics, releasing a massive quantity of light bubbles and foam toward Nami in the air. The bubbles attached to Nami's wings and body like living things. Nami suddenly felt an overwhelming wave of weakness sweep through her entire body—
"What's happening?! Suddenly I can't muster any strength… this is different from the slippery feeling earlier—now my whole body feels limp?" Shocked, her wings could no longer sustain flight. She plummeted straight down from the air!
"Death Finger Pistol – Whip!"
Kalifa flashed forward. A fierce finger pistol thrust struck Nami's shoulder hard, sending her flying. Immediately after, several Tempest Kick slashes chased after her mercilessly, cutting into Nami's body.
Smoke and dust filled the air. Kalifa stopped her attack, breathing heavily, thinking Nami was already defeated. But at that moment—
A clear, soaring cry rang out!
A golden thunderbird wrapped in lightning wings spread wide, appearing proudly before Kalifa. Though its wings bore several wounds, its eyes were sharp as lightning; thunder light crackled around it, its aura not diminished but intensified.
The thunderbird spoke in a clear, calm human voice: "I figured out your ability's weakness… it's water, right? Earlier I fully beastified in time to withstand the attack. Though I was injured, the blood flowing over my body washed away all those annoying bubbles you put on me."
"So what?" Kalifa forced herself to stay composed and gathered her power again. "With your body covered in wounds right now, I'll finish you immediately—Soap Sheep Cloud – Great Tsunami!"
This time, a massive wave of bubbles and foam surged outward from her like a tsunami, instantly flooding the entire room—leaving Nami no space to dodge.
"I'm a thunderbird!" The thunderbird that was Nami raised its head and cried out. Its wings flapped powerfully: "Thunderstorm!"
In an instant, dense cumulonimbus clouds gathered overhead in the room. Thunder rumbled; torrential rain poured down!
"What?!" Kalifa looked at Nami casually summoning a downpour; shock finally appeared in her eyes. She suddenly remembered something and hurriedly tried to raise a soap wall to protect herself—but under the continuous heavy rain, the bubbles barely formed before being washed away and dissolved by the water.
"It's over—Lightning Pillar!"
Nami's voice pierced through the rain curtain. A massive pillar of lightning crashed down; brilliant electric light completely pierced through Kalifa's body!
Thunder gradually subsided; the storm clouds dispersed. Not far away, Kalifa stood charred and blackened, eyes rolled back, rigid in place—already unconscious.
Nami slowly returned to human form. The wounds on her body had mostly healed under her ability. Looking at her now completely defeated opponent, she let out a soft breath: "Jeez… you really made me have to beat you up."
