After finally untangling myself from Tenten's death grip, I made my way through the bustling afternoon streets of Konoha.
I finally made it back to my apartment. I locked the door, closed the blinds to block out the harsh midday sun, and collapsed onto my bed with a heavy sigh. The absolute silence of the empty room was a stark, almost jarring contrast to the chaos of the past few weeks.
It was time to reinvest.
But before I opened the shop, I had a reward to claim from successfully clearing my last Gate—the Swamp of Scales.
I pulled the [Monarch's Loot Box] from my inventory. It didn't look like the standard sleek crates the System usually gave me; this was a distinctive lockbox laced with pulsing, golden energy.
Let's see what a guaranteed Legendary item looks like, I thought as I tapped the lid open.
The box dissolved into a blinding pillar of golden light. When it faded, a sleek, pitch-black ring resting on a small velvet cushion appeared on my bedsheets. The dark metal seemed to absorb the light around it, as a single, glowing blue gemstone sat in its center.
[LEGENDARY ITEM OBTAINED: The Monarch's Signet]
I picked up the ring, inspecting the metal.
[ITEM INFO: THE MONARCH'S SIGNET]
Rarity: Legendary
Type: Accessory (Ring)
Stat Bonus: +15 INT
Active Effect 'Shadow Link': Allows the wearer to perfectly share the senses (sight, hearing, and feeling) of any active Shadow Soldier, regardless of distance. (Current Max: 5 Shadow Soldiers).
Passive Effect 'Network Expansion': Continuously utilizing 'Shadow Link' during combat or daily espionage increases the wearer's mental proficiency, permanently expanding the maximum number of simultaneous links.
[SYSTEM NOTICE: Successfully establishing a concurrent link with 60% of your total Shadow Army will accelerate the Shadow Storage passive to its next level.]
I stared at the blue text, my eyes widening as the tactical implications hit me like a freight train.
I could now hide a shadow in someone's physical shadow, walk to the other side of this big ass village, and listen to every single word they said in perfect clarity.
"Holy shit," I whispered, sliding the ring onto my right index finger. It automatically resized, gripping my finger perfectly. "Just what I needed."
I didn't just gain a stat boost; I gained a bridge to a passive skill that would have taken an uncertain amount of time to unlock.
That alone made the Daily Quest upgrade worth it. But I wasn't done yet. I still had money to burn.
I opened the System Shop.
[CURRENT BALANCE: 21,167,025 Ryo]
First, skills.
The majority of my shadow soldiers were melee fighters, which meant my army currently had almost zero ranged capabilities. I needed ranged crowd control and elemental versatility to cover my blind spots.
[Wind Style - Vacuum Wave] (B-Rank): 75,000 Ryo
Effect: Exhale a continuous barrage of razor-sharp wind blades, while spinning the body. High area-of-effect damage; capable of decapitating multiple unarmored targets simultaneously.
[Fire Style - Dragon Flame Bombs] (B-Rank): 75,000 Ryo
Effect: Fire highly condensed streams of superheated fire that strike the target from the left, right, and front simultaneously, leaving no room for escape.
[Water Style - Water Encampment Wall] (C-Rank): 50,000 Ryo
Effect: Create a dense, highly pressurized barrier of water to block incoming physical and elemental attacks.
[TOTAL COST]: 200,000 Ryo.
[PURCHASE NOW?]: Y/N
"That's not too bad, yes."
[-200,000 Ryo]
[21,167,025 Ryo → 20,967,025 Ryo]
[NEW SKILL ACQUIRED: Wind Style - Vacuum Wave]
[NEW SKILL ACQUIRED: Fire Style - Dragon Flame Bombs]
[NEW SKILL ACQUIRED: Water Style - Water Wall]
[LEARN ALL NOW?]: Y/N
"Yes."
Knowledge flooded into my brain like a tidal wave. The muscle memory, the hand signs, the exact chakra molding ratios—it was all permanently etched into my mind in a matter of seconds.
Next up, gear.
The enemies in these higher-ranked Gates were only going to get faster and hit harder. If a single stray hit from that Lizardman Boss took off a chunk of my HP, I needed actual armor to protect me.
I scrolled through pages of gear in the shop—bulky plate mail that could potentially slow me down, chainmail that may have been too loud for stealth, and standard ninja mesh that offered zero blunt-force defense. Finally, I found the perfect balance.
[ARMOR SET: HIGH-ORC LEATHER (A)]:
Effect: Increases physical power and defense by 15%. Extremely lightweight and naturally muffles the sound of movement.
Stat Bonus: +10 STR & CON.
Cost: 300,000 Ryo.
"Lord have mercy," I muttered, almost hesitating to hit confirm. "That's pricey, but it'll be worth it,"
[-300,000 Ryo]
[20,967,025 Ryo → 20,667,025 Ryo]
I equipped it, and it materialized instantly. It was a sleek, pitch-black combat tunic made of incredibly tough, fitted leather. It felt like a second skin—weightless and highly durable.
Of course, walking around Konoha looking like an elite mercenary would raise way too many questions. Thankfully, a quick check of the System settings revealed exactly what I was hoping for: all wearable System items, including accessories, had an active camouflage mode. With a simple mental command, the dark High-Orc Leather and the glowing Signet ring on my finger shimmered and vanished from sight, leaving me looking like I was just wearing my standard orange jumpsuit.
And finally, a weapon upgrade.
[Kasaka's Venom Fang] was a great primary, but I had noticed it struggling to deal critical damage against the armored Lizardmen in the swamp.
"System, you got any daggers that are good against armored enemies?"
[SEARCHING… RESULT FOUND.]
[RECOMMENDED WEAPON: KNIGHT KILLER (B)]
Type: Dagger (Serrated)
Attack: +75
Effect: Deals +25% Armor Penetration Damage against heavily armored targets.
Cost: 225,000 Ryo.
Goddamn these fucking items are expensive. It's three times the normal price of a B-Ranked weapon, I thought as I confirmed the purchase.
[-225,000 Ryo]
[20,667,025 Ryo → 20,442,025 Ryo]
A wicked, matte-black and red dagger with a viciously serrated back edge dropped into my hands. It felt incredibly lethal.
"I could continue to buy more, but I think I should get used to and master the purchases I've acquired before splurging for more," I said to the empty room, closing the System Store with a swipe of my hand.
Hiruzen had given Team 7 a full week off. And I didn't plan on spending a single second of it sleeping. I had Gate Keys burning a hole in my inventory, new jutsu to test, and an army to expand.
It was time to get back to work.
Day 1: Warm-Up
I had originally planned to skip the low-level stuff entirely and jump straight into C and B-Rank Gates, but the System quickly shot that idea down.
[NOTICE: Consistently clearing low-tier Gates provides essential crafting resources. It is highly advised not to ignore them.]
Damn, so I gotta grind-grind, I mused internally. Ight, I'llplay the long game.
I spent the day clearing five E-Rank Gates back-to-back. The monsters were absolute fodder—basic wolf packs and giant rats that my shadow infantry tore through in minutes. I didn't even have to draw my daggers.
[DAY 1 DUNGEON RYO: +25,000]
[RYO BALANCE: 20,442,025 Ryo → 20,467,025 Ryo]
When I popped my first daily [Monarch's Loot Box], the reward was practical, if a bit boring.
[ITEM OBTAINED: Magnetite Ore x15]
Oh, it's like the Iron Ore material I have, I mused. Good for crafting materials later, I guess.
Day 2: Target Practice
I bumped up the difficulty slightly: two E-Ranks and two D-Ranks.
This was the perfect opportunity to test my new jutsu. Inside a D-Rank Goblin Encampment, I stood on a ridge overlooking a massive patrol. I flew through the hand signs etched into my brain and took a deep breath.
"Wind Style: Vacuum Wave!"
I exhaled a massive, continuous horizontal blade of compressed wind. It tore through the encampment, cleanly decapitating over a dozen unarmored goblins in a single sweep.
"Oh, that's beautiful," I grinned.
Ranged crowd control was exactly what my arsenal had been missing.
[DAY 2 DUNGEON RYO: +90,000 (E's: 10K / D's: 80K)]
[RYO BALANCE: 20,467,025 Ryo → 20,557,025 Ryo]
Then I opened the second day's loot box for another high-quality item.
[ITEM OBTAINED: Elixir of Iron Skin]
Effect:Temporarily grants a flat 30% reduction to all physical damage taken for 1 hour.
Not bad, I noted, tossing it into my inventory. A clutch item for when I'm in a pinch.
Day 3: The Forest
After clearing three E-Ranks and a standard D-Rank cave, I opened my final Gate of the day.
[DUNGEON ENTERED: The Quill Forest (Rank D)]
I stepped into a dense forest of dead, grey trees. Almost immediately, my [Sense] flared.
[ENEMY DETECTED: Needle-Quill Hedgehog]
These things were an absolute nightmare. There were dozens of them and they were the size of medium-sized boulders. The second they spotted me, they curled into tight balls and spun like literal buzzsaws, launching barrages of hardened quills in every direction.
I spent way too much time pulling sharp quills out of my shoulder, wincing as each one drained 10 chakra on contact. My new High-Orc Leather absorbed the physical damage, but no matter how good my armor was, it couldn't stop the chakra drain. Whenever the hedgehogs managed to pin me down from my blind spots, they would sap my reserves, forcing me to choose between spawning more soldiers or risking my CP bottoming out entirely.
Can't keep going on like this, I thought. It looks like I have to do this solo.
I activated [Dash]. I weaved through the dead trees, pushing my speed to the absolute limit. This wasn't about raw strength; it was purely about dexterity. I forced myself to move like water, dodging the flying quills by millimeters before striking their soft underbellies with my daggers. By the end of the dungeon, my movements were noticeably sharper and cleaner.
I definitely need to dump more points into [DEX] on my next level up.
[DAY 3 DUNGEON RYO: +55,000 (E's: 15K / D's: 40K)]
[RYO BALANCE: 20,557,025 Ryo → 20,612,025 Ryo]
I opened the third day's loot box and got an incredible, but extortionate item.
[ITEM OBTAINED: Waypoint Anchor Orb]
Effect: Allows the user to set a permanent, invisible teleportation pinpoint at any previously cleared Gate location.
[NOTICE: Waypoint Anchor Orbs have been permanently added to the System Store for 250,000 Ryo each.]
"Holy shit. 250 big ones?" I gasped, examining the item. "It's expensive as hell, but completely game-changing."
Day 4: The Den
I rushed through my three E-Ranks and two D-Ranks in the morning just to get to the main event.
[DUNGEON ENTERED: The Tiger's Den (Rank C)]
This was the big one. I stood in a massive, sweltering underground cavern.
[BOSS DETECTED: Giant Red Tiger]
It was the size of two medium-sized houses stacked together. Its fur was a vibrant mix of blood-red and beige stripes, and it moved with a terrifying, unnatural speed for its massive size.
It roared, swiping a paw the size of a carriage at me, shattering a boulder where I had been standing a millisecond ago.
"COME FORTH!"
My shadow army erupted from the cavern floor. The Lizardman Commander took point, his blue-flame spear clashing violently with the Tiger's massive claws. The infantry swarmed its legs, trying to distract it.
While the Tiger roared and swatted at the shadows, I activated [Stealth] and dropped behind a stalagmite. I channeled chakra into the [Monarch's Signet] on my finger and activated the Shadow Link effect, connecting my mind to one of the shadow infantry actively climbing the beast's flank.
My vision instantly split, giving me a flawless third-person view of the entire battlefield. But the tactile feedback was what shocked me—through the shadow, I could physically feel the oppressive, radiating heat coming off the Tiger's fur. It was heating up like a furnace, burning the shadow soldier's hands.
What the?!...An AoE attack! I realized through the link.
The Tiger's stripes glowed like molten lava, and it unleashed a devastating, omnidirectional wave of superheated ash and fire. I instantly dropped the link, stepped out of stealth, and slammed my hands together.
"Water Style: Water Wall!"
A highly pressurized barrier of water erupted in front of me, but I was a fraction of a second too late. The shockwave and the leading edge of the firestorm clipped me right before the water fully sealed the gap.
"Gah!" I gritted my teeth as blistering heat seared my exposed skin and the sheer concussive force slammed me back against the cavern wall.
[-42% HP]
[WARNING: Thermal Damage Sustained!]
My High-Orc Leather absorbed the brunt of the kinetic impact, keeping my ribs intact, but the searing pain in my arms was a sharp reminder of the gap between D-Rank and C-Rank bosses.
The rest of the scorching ash slammed into my water barrier with a massive, deafening hiss of steam.
I can't take another hit like that, I thought, shaking off the stinging pain. Gotta end this now.
Using the thick steam as cover, I activated [Dash] and sprinted up the Tiger's back, invisible and completely silent. I equipped the serrated [Knight Killer] in my right hand and [Kasaka's Venom Fang] in my left.
I drove the armor-piercing Knight Killer directly into the thick, reinforced bone at the base of the Tiger's skull, followed instantly by the Venom Fang.
[CRITICAL HIT!]
[STATUS EFFECT: Bleed Applied]
[STATUS EFFECT: Paralysis Applied]
The Tiger roared one last time, its massive legs giving out as the neurotoxin and raw structural damage overwhelmed it. It collapsed with an earth-shaking thud.

I stood over the massive beast, wiping sweat from my forehead.
[SHADOW EXTRACTION AVAILABLE!]
[COST OF EXTRACTION: 3 Deployment Slots]
If you can do that much damage, then I can't let you go to waste, I thought as I raised my hand over its carcass.
"ARISE!"
[SHADOW EXTRACTED: GIANT RED TIGER]
[GRADE: Elite]
When I got home, I popped the fourth day's loot box and was shocked by what I had gained.
[ITEM OBTAINED: Quest Scroll - The Adamantine Chains]
Effect:Initiates a unique, high-difficulty dungeon quest to unlock a unique variant of the Uzumaki Clan's Adamantine Sealing Chains specifically for the Player.
Oh, I am definitely saving that for later, I grinned, stowing the golden scroll safely into my inventory. That's gonna be a fun one to have.
Day 5: The Final Push
My final day of grinding was an absolute blur of violence. I cleared three E-Ranks to warm up before stepping into my very first B-Rank Gate.
[DUNGEON ENTERED: The Iron Fortress (Rank B)]
The environment was a massive, ruined castle courtyard, and standing in the center was a hulking, heavily armored Iron Golem.
[BOSS DETECTED: Fortress Golem]
It was completely immune to our physical attack damage. It shrugged off my shadow infantry's strikes like they were gnats, swinging massive fists that cratered the stone floor and sent shockwaves through the courtyard.
Alright big guy, I smirked, backing out of its immense reach. Let's see how you handle the new hire.
"COME FORTH!"
The cavern shook as my newly extracted Elite Shadow—bathed in black and blue flames—erupted from the darkness. It roared, a sound that rattled my teeth, and slammed into the Golem's chest. The Golem staggered as its focus was completely drawn by the massive, flaming beast grappling it.
It was the perfect test dummy for my new ranged attacks. While the Tiger kept it occupied, I spent thirty minutes flawlessly maneuvering the massive boss around the courtyard. I weaved through its sluggish, telegraphed counterattacks and continuously unleashed barrages of [Dragon Flame Bombs].
The highly condensed fireballs slammed into the Golem's joints repeatedly as the superheated fire slowly melted its thick iron plating into glowing, molten slag.
Eventually, the massive iron chest plate sloughed off, revealing a glowing, crystalline core pulsing in its center.
Bingo.
I activated [Dash], blurring across the courtyard. Bypassing its molten armor, I channeled a dense layer of chakra into my arm and delivered a devastating, blunt-force strike with the heavy pommel of the [Knight Killer] dagger straight into the exposed crystal.
The core shattered like glass. The Golem froze, the glowing light in its visor dying out before the massive construct collapsed into a pile of smoking scrap metal.

When I finally arrived back at my apartment, I dropped onto my bed feeling an absolute surge of raw power humming through every cell in my body.
I popped open the loot box, hoping for something grand.
[ITEM OBTAINED: Panacea of the Monarch]
Effect: A one-time-use ultimate elixir. Instantly cures all afflictions, poisons, and curses. Grants the user 'Super Soldier' status (Double HP, infinite stamina, and immunity to all debuffs) for two hours.
I held the glowing vial up to the light of my apartment window. It was the ultimate get-out-of-jail-free card.
Tomorrow was Day 6. My week off was almost over, but my army was larger, my new jutsu were learned, my gear was upgraded, and my pockets were loaded.
Before I made my final preparations, I pulled up my stats to admire the results of my five day grind.
"Status," I commanded.

A hundred and eleven unspent points, I mused, closing the screen. I'm as prepared as I'm ever going to be.
I opened my inventory and stared at the pulsing key I had earned weeks ago from the Limit Breaker quest.
It's time, I thought, a sharp, anticipating grin forming on my face. Time to see what's waiting for me in the Tower of Trials.
