Everyone in the training team immediately reacted and prepared for battle.
Even Mu Ningxue summoned her Ice Crystal Bow, ready to risk her life at a moment's notice.
"Let my brother go, and I might spare your life!" Lu Nian said, glaring at Wang Feng.
At this time, Wang Feng and his group were surrounded by Lu Nian's team, but he remained calm.
His eyes fixed on Lu Nian. "I need an explanation for why you attacked us," he said evenly.
Lu Nian paused for a moment, puffed on his pipe, and then slowly recounted the entire demon experiment.
Everyone in the training team listened, anger and indignation rising instantly.
"Just because of your stupid experiment, you want to silence us?"
"Beast! You're a true monster!"
"…."
Facing their abuse, Lu Nian remained indifferent; he was used to it by now.
Wang Feng continued, "How did you know we were in Jinlin Deserted City?"
A crooked smile appeared on Lu Nian's face. He slowly took out a recorder from his pocket and pressed play.
The voice recorder immediately played the conversation between Lu Nian and Dean Song He, clearly revealing how Dean Song He disclosed the training team's location to Lu Nian.
"How… how is this possible? Our dean actually betrayed us!"
The Imperial Capital Academy students' faces went pale. They had never imagined that their respected dean would collude with Lu Nian and lead them into danger.
Wang Feng was surprised as well. He had only exposed his magic abilities and lured Lu Nian to cheat Song He of resources, yet Lu Nian had prepared a recording to cover himself.
Now Song He had no way to escape. Even if the conversation showed he wasn't the mastermind, he would be labeled an accomplice.
"Can you give my brother back to me now?" Lu Nian demanded.
"Can."
As soon as Wang Feng spoke, he raised his hand and, with telekinesis, threw Lu Zhenghe toward Lu Nian.
The training team was shocked. Lu Zhenghe had been their only bargaining chip. Wang Feng had just handed him over—was he courting death?
Lu Nian caught Lu Zhenghe, doubt flashing across his face.
"You're just going to give him back like this?"
The next second, his doubt turned to shock.
A sharp pain erupted in his chest. Looking down, he saw a dagger lodged in his heart, blood slowly running down the blade.
And the dagger was wielded by his own brother—Lu Zhenghe!
"How… how could it be…"
Lu Nian spat blood and clutched his chest, eyes wide with disbelief.
"Master of the Military Control Commission!" Lu Nian's men were horrified.
"It's nothing. I already knew that you had Lu Zhenghe place a locator for you. I sent your brother away yesterday. If you go down now, you'll catch up and report to the King of Hell with him," Wang Feng said coldly.
Bloodshot, Lu Nian spat more blood but continued struggling, shouting incoherently, "I… can't die… yet!"
He then tremblingly took a blood-dripping knife from his pocket and crushed it with his remaining strength.
The droplet instantly became a ball of blood mist, penetrating into Lu Nian's body.
"Ah!!!"
Lu Nian let out a heart-wrenching howl. His body began to mutate at alarming speed.
Bones grew rapidly, muscles twisted and expanded, strange lines appeared on his skin. He became neither human nor ghost—like a low-level demon crawling out of hell.
"Wang Feng! I will kill you! Kill you!"
His voice was hoarse and ferocious, eyes filled only with murderous intent. All he thought of was smashing Wang Feng's bones to avenge his brother and himself.
"Kill me? You're just dreaming!" Wang Feng sneered.
With a thought, he activated [Ocean Star]. Simultaneously, a ray of [Healing Light] strengthened his body temporarily.
Just as the demon Lu Nian lunged frantically, a green wind track appeared beneath Wang Feng's feet, and his figure became erratic and illusory.
In an instant, he vanished and reappeared behind the demon Lu Nian.
Wang Feng placed his palm on Lu Nian's left arm.
"Deterioration!"
A milky white flash erupted. The demon's left arm swelled, and bones cracked audibly under the skin.
With a loud bang, the arm exploded, blood and flesh flying everywhere, leaving only a red arm bone exposed.
At the same time, a black prompt box appeared:
[Demon System]: Can transform into a demon, with serious side effects.
"Tsk, what a worthless devil! Not even worth a dog!" Wang Feng curled his lips in disdain.
"Ahhhh!!!"
Lu Nian roared in pain, losing his mind entirely.
His right hand cracked, forming a bone whip that lashed out indiscriminately at Wang Feng, the training team, and his own subordinates.
"Watery Sky Curtain—Boundary!"
Wang Feng focused and completed the construction of the water constellation. A sky-blue water curtain rose, wrapping the training team tightly.
Lu Nian's bone whip struck it fiercely, causing ripples but failing to break through.
However, his men weren't so lucky. The bone whip shredded several of them instantly, blood spraying everywhere as screams echoed.
"I can't let you kill them all. That would make getting the resources difficult!" Wang Feng muttered.
In two breaths, he completed the healing constellation. Milky-white starlight enveloped demon Lu Nian.
This high-level healing magic, which could normally regenerate flesh and reconnect bones, now acted as a deadly poison.
"Ah--!!!"
Lu Nian's body trembled violently. Flesh and blood dissolved rapidly; his bones melted under the starlight.
In an instant, his body became a pool of dirty blood, leaving only a tattered military uniform as evidence of his existence.
"Huh?"
Wang Feng approached the corpse. Searching for the recorder, he instead found a scarlet Blood Dropper beneath Lu Nian's clothes.
"Because Lu Nian didn't absorb it completely, it turned into the Blood Guillotine again?"
He calmly stored it in his space bracelet.
Although he looked down on demon-types, Wang Feng still valued his good brothers around him. Whether they used it or not was their concern.
