Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: You Can Bring People, but… It'll Cost Extra!

"We're here." Lingling pulled out the commission letter and waved it in front of the two young women.

The two froze for a moment. Then, the one dressed in traditional Han-Tang style asked uncertainly, "Qingtian Hunter Agency?"

"That's right. There weren't any available Mages at the agency, so we brought a newcomer to help." Lingling patted Wang Feng's lower back, speaking casually.

"A newcomer?"

Hearing that, the two beautiful sisters' expressions shifted, doubt flashing in their eyes.

"What? Looking down on me already?" Wang Feng raised a brow, his voice tinged with provocation.

"We're not questioning your agency. If we didn't trust you, we wouldn't have placed the commission. It's just… this mission involves clearing out a Cave Magic Slave nest deep in the mountains. With only the two of you…"

The young woman in tight-fitting clothes spoke with hesitation, clearly doubting their strength.

Wang Feng said nothing more. Instead, he silently lifted his hand—Summoning magic flared to life.

A crescent-shaped Star Orbit slowly lit up behind him, casting a pale moonlight glow.

"Come out, Moon!"

A graceful silver figure leapt from the orbit, landing firmly on the ground.

It was a massive silver wolf, the size of a small truck. Its fur gleamed like woven silver threads, eyes sharp as blades, and its presence radiated overwhelming strength.

"A Battle General–level wolf!" The woman in tight clothing gasped, eyes wide in disbelief.

Realizing her earlier rudeness, she quickly bowed slightly toward Wang Feng and Lingling. "My apologies. I shouldn't have doubted your agency's judgment."

"It's fine. We take money to solve problems. Where's the nest?" Lingling asked calmly, waving her hand as though used to such situations.

Back when she followed her father on missions, she was constantly underestimated because of her age. Now, hearing similar doubts didn't faze her in the slightest.

"My name is Mu Nujiao. This is my younger sister, Mu Nuxin. Thank you both for accepting our commission," Mu Nujiao introduced politely.

Hearing the name, Wang Feng's eyes lit up.

"So it's the Mu Family's twin beauties!" he thought to himself.

Not only was Mu Nujiao renowned for her beauty, but her strength was also remarkable—an elite among the younger generation of the Mu Family.

As for Mu Nuxin, though she had fewer appearances in the original story, Wang Feng had heard of her before.

"I have a small request. I wonder if—" Mu Nujiao began.

"You want to come along and hunt the demons yourself?" Wang Feng interrupted.

Mu Nujiao paused, then nodded. "That's right."

Wang Feng glanced at Lingling, his look saying, See? You were right.

Lingling puffed up proudly, her eyes gleaming as if to say, Of course. Learn from me, rookie!

"My sister is an Intermediate Plant Element Mage," Mu Nuxin explained. "She won't drag you down. As for me, I'll stay here and wait."

Wang Feng didn't answer immediately. Instead, he looked at Lingling.

Lingling's expression grew serious. "This isn't standard. The commission didn't state that the client would participate. If we change the terms, the fee has to be re-evaluated."

As she spoke, she rubbed her index finger and thumb together—an unmistakable gesture.

Mu Nuxin instantly understood. They could come… but only if they paid extra.

"Re-evaluating is too much trouble," Mu Nuxin said quickly.

"How about this—we'll add an extra one million to the fee. And we'll also throw in a very rare item as compensation. How about that?"

"A rare item?" Wang Feng raised a brow with interest.

"That's a secret. You'll find out once you complete the commission. I guarantee, with the Mu Family's reputation, it will definitely be worth it." Mu Nuxin smiled mysteriously.

Wang Feng and Lingling exchanged a glance before nodding. "Deal."

Wang Feng patted Moon's leg. The giant wolf crouched down, ready to carry them.

"Get in the car—ah no, get on the wolf!" Wang Feng joked as he lifted Lingling easily onto Moon's back before leaping up himself.

Mu Nujiao hesitated, then used Plant Magic to spring lightly onto Moon's back.

"Moon, let's go." Wang Feng stroked her silver fur gently.

"Awoo~!"

With a powerful howl, Moon dashed forward, charging into the mountain depths.

This was the edge of the Demon Capital's safe zone. Most of the creatures here were timid, low-level monsters like Giant-Eyed Rats.

But under Moon's Battle General–level aura, they scattered instantly, none daring to approach.

Before long, the group reached the location Mu Nujiao indicated.

Only then did Wang Feng signal Moon to withdraw her aura.

The mine ahead had once been a Mu Family property, producing a small amount of magic ore.

But about a week ago, a group of Cave Magic Slaves invaded, forcing the site to be abandoned.

The Mu Family's own hunters had scouted it and confirmed only one nest inside, so they handed this matter to the sisters as training.

"This is it," Mu Nujiao said solemnly, pointing to a vine-covered tunnel entrance.

Lingling hopped down from Moon's back and quickly inspected the entrance.

After a moment, she asked, "Any other exits to this mine?"

Mu Nujiao shook her head. "No, just this one. Why?"

Lingling frowned slightly. "Hopefully I'm just overthinking…"

She pulled a firestarter-like object from her red backpack, lit it, and tossed it into the tunnel.

Seconds later, thick smoke billowed out from inside.

"Quick, have your wolf blow it inside!" Lingling shouted.

"Moon!" Wang Feng commanded.

The silver wolf inhaled deeply, then blew with incredible force, driving the smoke deep into the mine.

Lingling clapped her hands. "This smoke is designed to flush out humanoid monsters like Cave Magic Slaves or Shannren. If there's only one exit, they'll have to come out here!"

Sure enough, hurried footsteps echoed from within.

A moment later, a hunched, goblin-like demon burst from the entrance.

But before Wang Feng could react, Moon had already moved.

With one swift strike of her claws, the Cave Magic Slave was decapitated.

The second, then the third, rushed out in panic—only to be dispatched instantly by Moon, leaving them no chance to resist.
