Chapter 2 - Ch 2- Mahito's Choice

Mahito, holding the second volume of the manga, scurried over to Jogo's side. He pointed to the first panel on page 164, which depicted Gojo Satoru stepping on Jogo's head—the only part of him left—and demanding to know who had sent him to attack.

"Hahahaha, look at this! You challenged Gojo Satoru and got beaten down to just a head. Gojo Satoru is treating you like a soccer ball!"

While laughing and repeatedly patting Jogo's shoulder with one hand, Mahito held the manga up to Jogo's face with the other.

"I challenged Gojo Satoru and got beaten down to just a head?" Jogo repeated with a strange expression.

Rather than getting angry at Mahito's teasing, Jogo was more puzzled by his sudden, inexplicable topic of conversation.

He couldn't fathom why Mahito would suddenly bring up Gojo Satoru's name.

Following Mahito's pointing finger, Jogo looked at the book in his hand, hoping to find an answer there.

But what infuriated Jogo was that the book Mahito handed him was completely blank—nothing but white pages. Mahito was clearly messing with him.

Veins instantly bulged on Jogo's face. His single eye shot a glare at Mahito beside him, the small volcano on his head boiling over and spewing thick smoke. Gnashing his teeth, he said, "Is it fun to mess with me using blank paper, you damn bastard?!"

Seeing Jogo's reaction, Mahito was slightly taken aback. He knew Jogo would get angry at this kind of teasing joke, but this reaction seemed off.

"Huh? No way, can't you see the drawings on it?" Mahito said, pointing again at Gojo Satoru. "This guy with the blindfold is Gojo Satoru."

Jogo slammed his hand down on the book, and in the next second, flames erupted from it, burning fiercely as he roared in anger.

"You're holding a blank book and spouting nonsense about me being beaten down to a head by Gojo Satoru? Have you lost your mind?"

Mahito looked somewhat regretfully at the manga's charred remains. From Jogo's words, he understood the situation: it seemed only he could see the contents of the manga.

Although the manga was burned, Mahito had already memorized all its contents, so the loss wasn't a big deal.

"It's actually true. The book just now wasn't blank; it had our story drawn in it," Mahito explained to the furious Jogo, shrugging helplessly.

"Hah? You're not joking, are you? Has your brain really gone bad?" Jogo's look at Mahito gradually shifted from pure anger to wary suspicion.

To prove he wasn't lying, Mahito stretched his arm out and fetched the first volume of the manga. Pointing at the cover, he asked Jogo seriously:

"The one you burned was the second volume. This one I brought now is the first volume."

Jogo looked at Mahito suspiciously. Having spent so much time together, he could usually tell when Mahito was being serious or just joking.

But looking at the completely blank, pure white book in Mahito's hand, Jogo couldn't be sure if his judgment was correct.

From Jogo's reaction, Mahito immediately knew the answer: it seemed Jogo couldn't see the first volume of the manga either.

Mahito kept stroking his chin with one hand while continuously flipping through the manga with the other. He examined it closely, muttering to himself, "How strange. Am I really hallucinating?"

But then Mahito remembered he had comprehended his Domain Expansion, 'Self-Embodiment of Perfection,' because of the manga, and felt things might not be so simple.

Just at that moment, a massive Cursed Spirit resembling a bird flew down from the sky.

If you ignored the four pairs of spider-like eyes on its head, its form was more akin to a Parrot.

The Parrot very naturally landed before Jogo and Mahito. It opened its large beak and began to speak—not truly speaking itself, but acting as a biological tape recorder playing a recorded message.

From the mouth of the Bird-like Cursed Spirit, Kenjaku's voice emerged.

"The time is about right. Let's set the location at Shibuya. We have much to discuss."

According to the original plan, Jogo would take Hanami and Dagon with him to represent their leader, Mahito, and seek advice from Kenjaku on how to reverse the current positions of curses and humans.

Since there was now serious business at hand, Jogo temporarily set aside the matter of Mahito messing with him earlier and prepared to call Hanami and Dagon to head to Shibuya.

Mahito called out to Jogo, who was about to leave.

"Wait. This time, I'm coming with you."

"Huh? Didn't we agree earlier that we'd go first to probe that guy Geto Suguru?" Jogo found it strange that Mahito would suddenly change his mind.

Recalling the scene he had just seen in volume fifteen of the manga—where Geto Suguru betrayed and subdued him—Mahito spoke up.

"Regarding Geto Suguru, there's something I need to confirm."

Seeing Mahito's serious expression, Jogo didn't press further. That is, until he saw Mahito pick up a nearby backpack, put the blank book inside, take out what should have been another volume, and start flipping through it while saying,

"Let's go."

As Mahito walked closer, Jogo confirmed once again that Mahito was engrossed in reading a book of blank pages, occasionally muttering to himself things like 'I see' or 'Haha, interesting.' Jogo suddenly began to wonder if he had made a mistake in recognizing Mahito's future potential and pushing him to be their leader. Could a leader who wasn't right in the head really lead the curses to overthrow human rule?

Jogo felt a profound sense of uncertainty about the path ahead... Not long after, in Shibuya, guided by the Bird-like Cursed Spirit, the four calamities met up with Kenjaku, who had been waiting for some time.

Seeing the four arrive, Kenjaku waved and greeted them, "Oh, you're all here."

Just as Mahito had seen in the manga, as Kenjaku led the four of them toward a certain location, he told them about using one of Sukuna's Fingers to test Sukuna's power within Yuji Itadori.

And just like in the manga, Jogo asked with a dissatisfied look:

"Was that necessary? Using such a precious finger just for that—to confirm Sukuna's strength?"

Just as Geto Suguru was about to explain, Mahito hooked an arm around Jogo's shoulder and said,

"After all, sending mere cannon fodder to test him would be meaningless, right? Isn't that so, Geto?"

After saying this, Mahito looked at Kenjaku with a smile.

Kenjaku also smiled in response, "You're absolutely right. And this probe yielded corresponding gains."

Hearing Kenjaku's words, the smile on Mahito's face grew even wider.

Sure enough...
