Chapter 4 - system legacy

{Ding!}

{System legacy awakened}

{Welcome Acolyte}

{To the universal system}

{Main objective: Become prepared for the first universal call}

What is is this voice? Bayu echoed in his mind. his eyes still closed, confused as to whether he was alive or not.

{I am the legacy of your mother, the universal system}

A legacy? A universal system? Bayu asked the system, totally lost.

{Affirmative}

{Part of your mother's progress was due to the assistance of the universal system}

{Note: Most was her desperation and her inbuilt element to Nature.}

The cold voice of the system responded.

emotionless.

So I must stick to you and be prepared for this universal call.

{Correct}

{Acolytes assumption is correct to an extent}

What if I don't want to?

{ As the legacy of one of your world chosen as been transferred to you, you'll be called whether you like it or not and if you're not properly prepared, your chances of survival will be zero.}

So that basically means death.

Bayu wondered.

Should he accept this?

Some strange voice echoing through his mind and calling itself it's mother's legacy.

He recalled what had happened back at the arena, it was solely the memories of stories Maxon had told that made him defeat the archaic beast.

What could possibly go wrong, if he learns more about his mother?

Universal system?

{Yes host?}

I accept. I will like to be prepared for this universal call.

{Response received}

{System updated}

{You are now a registered Acolyte!}

{Main quest: Complete the spear formation}

{Side quest: Upgrade your Element to Nature}

Bayu's eyes slowly opened, his gaze adjusting to the dimly lit room, he took a stare at the white ceiling, drops of water poured from the protruding parts, he moved to the side a bit. Sitting up.

I'm alive after all. Bayu muffled silently, recalling the battle of the arena, trying not to wake the others who laid on the various other beds filled with the injured.

He raised his right hand up, it was wrapped neatly in a long green leaf, bayu recognized where he was, The healer's abode.

{Ding!}

The sound of the system notification rang through bayu's ear again.

Universal system, what are these? Bayu asked staring at the green translucent green screen which had suddenly appeared at his front.

{This is a statistical representation of your acolyte status}

{It'll reflect how strong you'd get as you prepare for the universal call by completing the spear formation}

What do you mean the spear formation? He asked raising a brow up, confused.

{Complete the spear formation to be prepared for the coming universal call}

Bayu didn't quite understand the spear formation, it seemed to hover around the same response and not go into detail. bayu shrugged seating up on the bed. Looks like he had to figure that out by himself.

Eyes still pale from sleep, some lines carved across his face for not resting accurately on the bed. He stood taking a look at the other village folks who slept on the other beds. recovering.

He then glanced at his outfit, there was nothing too special about it, it was still the regular ragged outfit he'd uncle's wife reesha had made for him, it look ragged and stained with blood too. Most of it patched with the leaves which were used to heal his wounds.

He slowly made his way out, expecting to be greeted by a blazing sun but was a bit stunned to see dark clouds fill the sky. Rain drizzling down.

Children played around, their coats wet, and a women passed by, carrying fishes in baskets back from the ocean.

The rain was the reason the ceiling had been leaking earlier.

You're awake!

This is a miracle!

We thought you'd never rise again!

A voice spoke just right beside bayu. Bayu looked down at him. It was the island's healer, a short dwarf with thrashed hair.

You sure are a tough one to deal with, it's been weeks.

"Weeks?!" Bayu spoke his face expression in bewilderment. Yes, weeks the healer answered, I'm surprised you could even walk on your feet. He continued. Scanning bayu from head to toe.

Thank you. Bayu spoke nodding his head to the ground and hurrying off. If you need anything else I'll be here, the healer yelled, watching bayu disappear into the village.

Bayu tried his best to walk upright, if he'd been asleep for weeks, his family would have missed him a lot by now, he wondered what would have happened to his team.

If they would have once again been condemned to the sands of the arena for execution or worse sent out the walls to the monster infested side of the island.

He was their new leader, it was his responsibility to lead them.

Bayu held on to his fore head as he became overwhelmed with all of this thoughts.

This is bad.

He shook his head, killing the thoughts. After a few dozen minutes.

Bayu navigated through the rustic barns and humble huts that comprised the village, his gaze lifting upwards to behold the imposing palace of the island's chief, a structure that dominated the central landscape of the island, surpassing all other edifices in grandeur.

As bayu got closer to his uncle Maxon's hut, he heard it, the soothing laughter of children who played around just outside of the hut. He spotted uncle Maxon seating on the piled wooden logs at the front of his hut while sharpening his blade and having a conversation with his wife, watching the other children.

He recognized the voice of one of the children, it was Bayuna his cousin, she was surrounded by a few other kids, showing off bayu's green spear, pretending to use it to fight some imaginary monster, bayu's eyes glimmered as he gazed in amusement.

Her gaze locked with his, she stopped in her movements, so was the chitter chatter of all the kids gathering around.

Bayu!
