Chapter 2 - Jingles of the sweet moon (Edited Version)

*ISAIAH'S POV*

"It is poisoned," said a man who was the poison himself.

His words hung in the air like a toxin. A toxin that I was used to. I swirled the red wine in my hand. It had the same colour, the same aroma, and had been served in the same wine glass for the past three years.

'How could it be poisoned?' I thought, my hand instinctively bringing the wine glass to my lips. I inhaled the familiar aroma one last time as I gulped the wine down in one go.

'Tasty,' I thought as my lips curved into a smile. But it was not the taste that I had experienced for the last three years. It was the force that tried to stop my heart that was tasty.

I felt pain in that moment while also feeling pleasure within that pain.

'This could really become a bad addiction,' I thought as I looked up. The same three fools who had come to warn me were running towards my side.

I just sighed as I signalled the guards to come and throw them into prison.

But what I didn't know at that time was that the poison was not a bad addiction compared to the addiction that would drag my life into insanity.

And that addiction came at that very moment.

The candles that had illuminated my room until now suddenly blew out without warning.

Just as the moon's light filled the room, jingling sounds echoed.

A slender man with rows upon rows of bells on his arms, waist, and legs landed near me.

I was only able to see his chestnut-brown hair before he lunged towards the three fools. His grip was strong as he ran towards the broken window.

'Not so fast,' I thought as I also lunged towards him.

It was just inches. The difference between his hands and mine. And maybe I would have been able to catch him if I hadn't looked into his eyes.

The hazel eyes that pierced through my soul. The eyes that left me craving for more. The eyes that caught me off guard.

My body gave up on me after that. I fell to the ground.

'The poison has worked its magic,' I thought.

But when I opened my eyes again, I saw the same broken window perfectly fine. It was even glowing.

My heart raced when I thought of him again.

"Damn it... Not even in my dream?"
