He pulled his hand back and slowly tilted his head to the right as he examined his thumb, now stained with colour red.

Cixi groaned in irritation. "You deserve teeth marks!" She decided not to tell him her name when he acted as if he did not remember her.
By the door, Lily and Marion were truly aghast. They stared at their best friend, utterly flabbergasted, genuinely wondering whether Cixi had suddenly grown four demonic horns on her head, or whether she thought she had miraculously turned into some mythical nine-tailed fox.
