Chapter 73 - Episode 73 – Controlled Escape

🚆 Love Train in Facebook Station

10:07 PM – Safe Apartment

The silence didn't last.

It never did.

Three minutes.

That's what she said.

And now—

It was already less.

Srikant grabbed his weapon, movements sharp, precise.

No hesitation this time.

No debate.

Across the room—

Rudra Sen was already pulling up exit maps.

"All lower exits blocked," he said quickly.

"Rooftop is the only option."

And near the wall—

Sasmita stood still.

Eyes focused.

Not panicking.

Not thinking.

Calculating.

Countdown

"Two minutes," she said.

Srikant looked at her.

That calm voice again.

That certainty.

"Route?" he asked.

She turned toward the hallway.

"Left corridor. Then service stairs."

Pause.

"Don't take the main landing."

Rudra frowned.

"That's the fastest route."

She shook her head.

"That's why they'll cover it."

Decision Made

Srikant nodded once.

"We follow her."

Rudra didn't argue this time.

Because logic—

Said she was right.

Again.

Movement

They moved fast.

Door opened.

Hallway clear.

Footsteps echoed faintly below.

Voices.

Orders.

"They're inside," Rudra whispered.

Close Call

They turned left—

Just as a team rushed past the opposite corridor.

Missed them by seconds.

Srikant glanced at Sasmita.

She didn't react.

Like she expected it.

Stairs

They reached the service stairs.

Narrow.

Dim.

Concrete walls.

"Up," she said.

They climbed quickly.

One floor.

Two.

Three.

Breathing heavier now.

Time tighter.

The Glitch

Halfway up—

Sasmita suddenly stopped.

Srikant turned—

"What happened?"

She didn't answer immediately.

Her eyes—

Lost focus.

"I… saw something else…" she whispered.

Rudra's expression changed.

"Another route?"

She shook her head slowly.

"No…"

Pause.

"A different outcome."

That Was New

Srikant stepped closer.

"What kind of outcome?"

She looked at him.

Conflicted.

"You don't make it."

Silence.

Reaction

Rudra spoke first—

"Then we change it. Move."

But Sasmita didn't move.

"Wait," she said.

Split Prediction

"There are two paths now," she continued.

"Left door—safe for you."

"Right door—trap for both."

Srikant frowned.

"Then we take left."

She shook her head again.

"If we take left…"

Pause.

"They learn my pattern."

Bigger Risk

Rudra understood instantly.

"They're mapping her predictions…"

Srikant's expression hardened.

"So no matter what we choose…"

"They gain data," Rudra finished.

The Impossible Choice

Silence filled the stairwell.

Sasmita looked at both of them.

"For the first time…"

She said quietly—

"I don't know the best option."

Emotional Layer

That was it.

That was the crack.

Not control.

Not certainty.

Fear.

Srikant's Decision

He stepped forward.

Closer to her.

"Then we stop following predictions."

Both of them looked at him.

"We choose something else."

Unpredictable Move

Srikant turned—

And kicked open the middle emergency door.

Not left.

Not right.

Third option.

Shock

Rudra blinked—

"That wasn't even in the layout—"

Sasmita's eyes widened slightly.

"You created a new path…" she whispered.

Break in System

For the first time—

Her expression showed something real.

Relief.

Exit Route

The door led to a maintenance passage.

Narrow.

Unused.

Perfect.

They moved quickly through it.

Behind them—

Footsteps reached the main stairs.

But too late.

Rooftop

They emerged onto the rooftop.

Cold air hit instantly.

City lights spread below.

Escape routes limited.

"Now what?" Rudra asked.

Srikant looked at Sasmita.

She took a breath.

Focused again.

"They didn't predict this," she said.

Extraction

Rudra activated a signal.

A hidden backup vehicle nearby.

"Thirty seconds," he said.

The Moment

Srikant stood beside Sasmita.

"You said I don't make it," he said quietly.

She looked at him.

"That was one outcome."

He nodded slightly.

"Then we don't follow outcomes."

Final Scene

Far away—

Inside control room—

Sovereign stared at the broken prediction model.

Beside him—

Meera Vashisht spoke—

"They changed the path."

Sovereign's expression didn't change.

But his voice dropped slightly—

"Interesting…"

Pause.

"He's learning."
