Chapter 58 - Episode 58 – Poison Trap

🚆 Love Train in Facebook Station

04:52 PM – Abandoned Service Zone (Near Facility Perimeter)

The sniper zone was behind them.

But safety?

Still far away.

Dust-filled wind blew across the empty industrial stretch as Srikant, Rudra Sen, and Sasmita moved quickly toward a partially broken warehouse.

Temporary cover.

Nothing more.

Exhaustion Hits

Inside the warehouse—

Dark.

Quiet.

Srikant leaned slightly against a pillar.

Not weak.

But tired.

Even he had limits.

Rudra checked his tablet.

"External signals still unstable… but we're off direct tracking."

Then he paused.

"We need hydration. Energy levels dropping."

The Setup

Near the corner—

A crate.

Sealed bottles inside.

Water.

Too perfect.

Srikant noticed immediately.

"Don't touch."

Rudra nodded.

"Could be contaminated."

Sasmita Moves

But before either of them could react—

Sasmita walked toward the crate.

Calm.

Focused.

Srikant's voice turned sharp—

"Sasmita, stop."

She didn't.

Picked up a bottle.

Opened it.

Dangerous Moment

Rudra stepped forward instantly—

"Are you crazy?!"

But Sasmita paused.

Held the bottle near her face.

Smelled it.

Closed her eyes.

Processing.

Then whispered—

"Neuro-suppressant compound."

Both men froze.

"You can identify it?" Rudra asked.

She nodded.

"Chemical pattern… altered… but traceable."

The Shock

Srikant walked closer.

"Then put it down."

But she didn't.

Instead—

She raised the bottle slightly.

"I need to confirm."

Before anyone could stop her—

She took a small sip.

Panic

"SASMlTA!" Srikant shouted.

He grabbed her hand instantly.

"Have you lost your mind?!"

Rudra rushed forward.

"That's a controlled compound!"

Calm Reaction

But Sasmita…

Didn't react.

No panic.

No fear.

She closed her eyes.

Stood still.

Seconds passed.

Nothing.

Then she spoke—

"Low dose."

"Delayed effect."

"Used for behavioral weakening."

Unnatural Control

Srikant stared at her.

"You just drank poison."

She looked at him.

"It's not poison."

"It's control."

Rudra shook his head.

"That doesn't make it better!"

The Real Danger

Suddenly—

Sasmita's breathing changed.

Just slightly.

Her pupils dilated.

Rudra noticed instantly.

"It's affecting her…"

Srikant held her shoulders.

"Sasmita, stay with me."

She looked at him.

But her expression…

Shifted.

Behavior Change

A slow smile appeared.

Not normal.

Not warm.

Calculated.

"You were right," she said softly.

Srikant frowned.

"About what?"

She tilted her head.

"Emotion is inefficient."

Silence.

Heavy.

Red Flag

Rudra stepped back slightly.

"No…"

Srikant's voice turned firm—

"Sasmita, look at me."

She did.

But her gaze—

Cold again.

Detached.

Internal Conflict

Inside her mind—

Voices overlapping.

"Enhance compliance…"

"Suppress resistance…"

"Stabilize cognition…"

Her hand trembled slightly.

Just a little.

But she forced it still.

Sudden Threat

Before they could react further—

A loud metallic sound echoed.

Warehouse doors slammed shut.

From the shadows—

Four armed figures emerged.

Not controlled civilians.

Trained operatives.

Weapons raised.

Ambush

Srikant instantly moved in front of Sasmita.

Rudra took position.

"Stay back."

But Sasmita didn't move back.

She stepped forward.

The Scary Move

Before Srikant could stop her—

She walked toward the armed men.

Unarmed.

Calm.

One operative aimed directly at her head.

"Stop right there!"

She didn't.

Control or Confidence?

Rudra whispered—

"She's not even reacting…"

Srikant's instincts screamed danger.

"Sasmita, come back!"

Unexpected Outcome

The operative fired—

CLICK.

Gun jammed.

Second operative tried—

CLICK.

Same.

All weapons malfunctioned.

Rudra stared.

"That's not coincidence…"

Srikant looked at Sasmita.

She stood still.

Watching them.

Like she already knew.

Final Scene

Far away—

Watching the feed—

Sovereign spoke quietly—

"The compound is integrating faster than expected."

Beside him,

Meera Vashisht asked—

"Is she under control?"

Sovereign's eyes remained fixed on Sasmita.

"No."

Pause.

"She's rewriting the control itself."

Ending Moment

Back in the warehouse—

Sasmita slowly turned toward Srikant.

Her voice calm.

Too calm.

"You shouldn't trust me right now."

Srikant didn't step back.

But for the first time—

He didn't step forward either.
