"Princess, I asked if you want to be my friend?"
I repeated the question because the silence was getting too heavy. It was like a total blackout in the conversation. No words came from her, just that steady, unreadable look she always gave me.
"Princess!" I called out again, trying to snap her back to the moment.
"I heard you," she finally said. Her voice was calm, but there was a flicker of something in her eyes. "I am just thinking about what kind of friend you want me to be. Because, you know, friends don't usually sleep with each other."
The irony of that statement nearly made me choke. I wanted to point out that her own best friend was currently sleeping with… oh, fuck it. It wasn't the time to bring up Kiara and Beam.
