Chapter 33 - Chapter 33. The First Course

I stepped through the portal with Shura and Malachi, leaving the damp, suffocating air of the Vatican black-site behind. The transition was instantaneous. Instead of the ruined cathedral, we stood in the center of my domain.

The pocket dimension had completely transformed since my last visit. Hachirotaro and his familiars had been busy. Carved directly into the heart of the towering glacial mountain was a massive fortress. The architecture was stark and imposing—heavy stone and dark ice illuminated by ambient, pulsing blue energy that contrasted sharply against the pitch-black shadows of the fortress walls. High above, the artificial sun I had created burned brightly against a crisp sky, its cycle perfectly stabilized to keep the silver-blue moon hidden until nightfall. It cast a striking, high-contrast glow over the frozen courtyards.

"Not a bad vacation home," Shura whistled, her eyes tracing the massive double doors of the main keep.

"Right now, it's a base of operations," I corrected, walking forward. "And it's time to see the troops."

Before we could take another step, Hachirotaro materialized from the shadows of the courtyard to greet us. The giant serpent demon bowed deeply, his demeanor stoic and disciplined, before turning to lead the way.

We followed him into a newly formed throne room—a cavernous, open-air hall overlooking the lower ridges. Waiting for us were the forces I had gathered. To my left stood the thousands of evolved goblin hordes, and to my right was the newly recruited Oni.

Having escorted us inside, my First General took his rightful place at the center of the formation, standing perfectly still. Malachi, my Second General, hovered silently in the air just behind my right shoulder, his indestructible metallic wings shifting smoothly like liquid chrome.

I walked up the frozen steps to the elevated platform and turned to face my army. It was a terrifying assembly of monsters, but they still had the lingering taint of Gehenna's flaws.

I needed them perfect.

"Hachiro. Malachi," I commanded, my voice echoing off the obsidian-like ice. "Step forward."

The giant serpent demon bowed his head and slithered to the base of the steps. Malachi touched down lightly beside him, his cold, pristine eyes fixed on me.

I let my four-colored halo flare to life, illuminating the throne room in a blinding array of blue, amethyst, pearl-white, and platinum light. I reached out, condensing a concentrated drop of platinum fire into the palm of each hand.

"A king is only as strong as his generals," I said. "I am removing your limits."

I flicked my wrists, sending the platinum embers directly into their chests.

The reaction was instantaneous. The divine flames didn't burn them; they conceptually unlocked them. Hachirotaro let out a low, rumbling roar as the fire washed over him. His scales instantly hardened, morphing from snake-like hide into flawless, indestructible dragon-like armor that pulsed with a faint blue aura.

Beside him, Malachi gasped, his metallic wings flaring wide. The chaotic, conflicting holy and demonic energies within him completely synchronized under the purifying heat of the platinum flame. A brilliant, blinding halo of platinum light materialized above his head, cementing his rebirth.

They both dropped to one knee, radiating a level of power that made the surrounding Oni instinctively take a half-step back.

"The frontline is armed," I said, a predatory smirk spreading across my face.

I raised my hand, closing my eyes for a fraction of a second as I extended my divine senses beyond the borders of my pocket dimension. I tapped deeply into the fabric of Assiah, collecting the raw geographical data of the outside world before weaving it into a holographic map of blue and red flames, letting it project in the center of the room. "Now, let's plan our first strike."

The map pulsed in the center of the room. I reached out, my fingers manipulating the fiery construct, zooming in on a remote, heavily forested mountain range.

A detailed, multi-level blueprint of a subterranean fortress materialized from the flames.

"This is the Black Rose Laboratory," I announced, my voice carrying over the silent, attentive ranks of my army. "It's one of the Illuminati's high-value research facilities. Right now, Lucifer's scientists are down there churning out horrific, bio-engineered demons—stitching together corpses and forcing artificial elements into unstable vessels."

Hachirotaro stepped forward, his new dragon-like armor gleaming under the projection's light. He studied the fiery blueprint with the disciplined eye of a veteran commander.

"It is a highly fortified position," he observed, his deep, rumbling voice echoing across the courtyard. "If we surround the perimeter with the goblin horde, we can cut off all escape routes. Then, the Oni can breach the main gates and overwhelm their interior defenses."

A standard, highly effective siege, I mused. It has merit.

Before I could agree, Malachi shifted beside me. His metallic wings chimed softly against each other like drawn blades as he lowered his cold gaze to the map.

"A physical siege is loud," Malachi stated, his voice chillingly smooth and completely devoid of empathy. "It gives them time. Time to delete their research, time to activate their fail-safes, or time to simply end their own lives before we can extract their knowledge. That is inefficient."

Hachirotaro narrowed his slitted eyes at the Archangel. "And your alternative?"

Malachi's lips curled into a terrifyingly calm smile. "We break them from the inside out. Before the Oni even touch the physical gates, I will cast a barrier over the facility. I will trap their minds in a purgatory, forcing every scientist and guard to experience their deepest, most paralyzing traumas simultaneously. They will be driven mad with terror. They will tear each other apart before we even step through the front door."

Hahaha, what the fuck? I laughed in my head.

As I listened to both of my generals, a slow, predatory grin spread across my face. It was the perfect contrast—Hachiro's unstoppable physical might and Malachi's absolute psychological devastation.

"We don't have to choose," I said, waving a hand through the fiery map, causing the projection to dissipate into harmless sparks. "We can adapt both."

I turned to Shura, who had been watching the exchange with her chin casually resting on her hand.

"Shura, you'll act as Field Commander for this strike," I declared. "You coordinate them. Malachi strikes first. He paralyzes the facility, breaks their minds, and disables their defenses. The second he drops his mental barrier, you send Hachiro and the Oni in to crush whatever is left standing."

Shura blinked in surprise, briefly glancing between the stoic dragon and the psychotic angel, before a smirk touched her lips, her eyes flashing with battle-ready excitement as the snake tattoo on her forearm pulsed.

"Try not to get rusty watching us," she laughed. "I'll make sure they don't leave any crumbs."

I nodded and stepped forward to the very edge of the elevated platform, looking down at the thousands of monsters assembled before me.

"For centuries, the True Cross Order has fought to keep this world exactly as it is, while the Illuminati has fought to tear it apart," I began, my voice cold and absolute. "Both sides are playing a game of survival. But we are not here to survive."

I paused, letting my four-colored halo flare, casting harsh, dramatic shadows across the rigid faces of the Oni and the glowing eyes of the goblins.

"We are not fighting for the world's salvation. We are fighting for the right to rule it."

I locked eyes with Hachirotaro, then Malachi, before sweeping my gaze across the army. "Lucifer and his Illuminati believe they are the ones shaping the future. They hide in subterranean bunkers, stitching together rotting corpses and unstable elements, calling themselves gods."

I let out a dark, mocking laugh that echoed through the glacial courtyard.

"They play with scraps," I declared, my eyes glowing with a piercing, platinum intensity. "Today, we show them what real ones look like. I demand perfection from all of you. I demand utter ruthlessness. We leave no survivors, no data, and no doubt about who truly owns this world."

A deafening, unified roar erupted from the thousands of demons below.

"Prepare to march," I commanded over the deafening noise.

I raised my right hand, letting the space above my palm ignite with a violent mixture of colors. I reached out, dug my fingers into the very fabric of reality, and pulled.

RIIIIIP.

The sound was like a thunderclap layered over screaming metal. Space itself tore open above the courtyard, expanding into a massive, swirling abyss of four-colored fire.

Through the jagged edges of the spatial rift, we looked directly down at the sky above the Black Rose Laboratory.

The moment the rift opened in Assiah, the atmospheric pressure in the heavily forested mountain range instantly inverted. From our vantage point, I could see the hidden, reinforced doors of the Illuminati base set into the mountainside. The facility's alarms immediately began to wail, a frantic, high-pitched screaming that cut through the treeline.

Scientists and elite guards scrambled into the exterior courtyard below, pointing their weapons toward the sky in uncomprehending terror.

Above them, the sky hadn't just changed color; it had completely broken. The clouds were incinerated, replaced by a swirling, unnatural vortex of blue and amethyst energy. The sheer density of my spatial rift violently distorted gravity, causing the trees around the base to uproot and float upward into the air.

"You three," I said calmly pointing at Shura and the two Generals before stepping off the edge of the platform and directly into the abyss. "Show them just how deeply your convictions go."

We descended looking like divine judgment dropping straight from heaven.

We hit the ground, but I never actually touched the dirt.

A few feet above the courtyard, I willed my platinum flames to coalesce beneath me, instantly crystallizing into a floating throne of pure, blinding heat and solid light. I took a seat, crossing one leg over the other, and rested my chin on my knuckles.

Below me, the massacre began.

The Illuminati guards didn't even get the chance to fire a single bullet. Before they could pull their triggers, Malachi touched down in the center of the courtyard and opened his indestructible metallic wings to their full wingspan, unleashing a silent, invisible pulse of light.

It washed over the entire facility like a tidal wave.

The effect was instantaneous and horrifying. Hundreds of elite, heavily armed guards and scientists suddenly froze. Then, the screaming started. Amidst the raw, agonizing shrieks of minds breaking, weapons clattered to the ground as men fell to their knees, clawing at their own faces as their eyes went wide and unseeing.

Shura landed gracefully on top of a reinforced guard tower, drawing her demon blade. The snake tattoo on her arm glowed a violent, blood-red, contrasting against the blue and amethyst swirling in the sky above.

"Frontline!" she shouted, her voice echoing over the screaming humans. "Leave no corner untouched!"

The Oni and the goblin horde answered with a deafening roar.

Hachirotaro, in the midst of the charge, crashed into the courtyard like a meteor. The massive doors of the facility blew outward from the inside. The Illuminati's fail-safe immediately activated. Flooding out of the facility came grotesque, stitched-together chimera zombies, pumped full of artificial elements and chaotic demon blood.

They were supposed to be unstoppable killing machines. But against my army, they were as malleable as wet tissue paper.

The Oni proceeded to erase them. The house-sized demons swung their kanabo clubs, turning the bio-weapons into unrecognizable paste with a single, brutal impact. Whatever the Oni missed, the goblin horde incinerated, unleashing synchronized volleys of elemental magic that turned the courtyard into a raging inferno of destruction.

I watched the slaughter from my throne, completely unbothered. It was exactly as I had commanded: absolute, ruthless perfection.

My divine senses picked up a sudden, desperate spike of energy deep within the facility. I tracked it instantly—spatial magic. Someone was trying to teleport out.

With a thought, my platinum throne vanished, and I stepped through the fabric of space.

I materialized inside the deepest, most secure bunker of the laboratory. The alarms were blaring red, casting frantic shadows across the steel walls. Standing on a glowing teleportation pad was the Base Director, a panicked, sweating man clutching a hard drive containing decades of bio-engineering research.

The teleporter began to hum, flashing with a bright blue light as it prepared to whisk him away to safety.

"Leaving so soon?" I asked.

The Director gasped, spinning around.

As he did I snapped my fingers. The teleportation circle shattered like cheap glass. Then, I exerted my authority over the room, instantly freezing space itself. The Director was paralyzed, trapped mid-breath, his eyes bulging in absolute terror as I casually walked onto the pad and plucked the hard drive directly from his trembling hands.

I looked at the drive, then met his terrified gaze. My blue eyes shifted into a piercing, unnatural platinum.

The hard drive instantly incinerated into fine white ash in my palm.

"This facility is going to turn to ash," I told him, my voice completely devoid of mercy. "But fortunately for you, you'll live to see another day. Because you're going to crawl back to the King of Light, and you're going to deliver a message for me."

I reached out and lightly tapped the center of his chest. I released the spatial lock, allowing him to collapse to his knees, gasping for air as he trembled before me.

"Y-yes..." he choked out, tears of absolute terror streaming down his face as he stared at the white ash dusting my fingers. "A-anything."

The entire subterranean bunker began to melt around us under the passive heat of my aura. "Tell him I said it's his move, and to make it a good one this time," I said, turning my back on the broken man, stepping back into a portal to my pocket dimension as the Black Rose Laboratory collapsed into a smoldering crater of ash and fire.
