Chapter 26 - Dungeon Reveal

Taking her hand, warm and trusting, he led her downstairs to the basement. The air grew cooler with each step. At the closet door, he cleared a path through the clutter, his movements deliberate. Guiding her to the far wall, draped in new wallpaper, Alex stowed the removable panel away, revealing the ornate gate beyond. The missing wall framed a portal that hummed with otherworldly energy. Luna's breath caught, her eyes widening in the low light. "Alex, what's going on?" she asked, her voice laced with worry and wonder.

He met her gaze, a secretive smile tugging at his lips. "It's my Class, Dungeon Master," he confessed, the words hanging heavy with promise. "Come with me." Taking her hand again, he stepped through the threshold. Steps led down, the gate's glow enveloping them seconds after. In that instant, possibilities unfurled like forbidden paths: strength to claim, secrets to share, pleasures to explore in depths unseen.

The revelation of Alex's hidden power rippled outward like a stone skipped across dark waters, drawing the world's gaze and perhaps sharper threats straight to him. Whispers of his vigilante exploits echoed through the networks, turning him into a target. They would come with knives out, bullets from afar. The possibilities gnawed at him, fueling an urgent fire in his chest. Strength was not a luxury anymore; it was survival, and he had to claim it swiftly before the Association hunters closed in.

Not the lesser groups on their continent, but the elite over in the land of the rising sun, farming SS-Rank Vampire Gates, or battling undead horrors in the land of diversity. The SSS-Rank that spawned six years ago in the land of the Greenlanders served as a mecha for powerhouses. A neutral place, in a world divided against one another.

Luna's eyes widened as the dungeon unfolded before her, a vast chamber pulsing with ethereal light. Towering stone walls veined with glowing crystals cast dim illumination, stretching into misty depths. The air hung thick with the scent of damp earth and untamed wilds. Strange vines twisted along the floor, and distant echoes of drips came from stalactites. Her breath caught, fingers tightening around his as wonder battled caution in her expression. What wonders lurked in this realm he commanded?

A sharp whistle from Alex pierced the hush, and shadows stirred. Wolves emerged from the gloom, their sleek forms gliding forward with predatory grace. Fur rippled like midnight silk, eyes gleaming with feral intelligence. They circled Luna, noses twitching as they assessed the newcomer. "Hold out your hands," Alex instructed softly, his voice steady amid the pack's low growls. "Let them know your scent. One day, they might track you down if trouble finds us."

She extended her palms, heart racing as rough tongues lapped at her skin, warm and insistent. The wolves nuzzled her arms, their hot breaths sending shivers up her spine, marking her as part of their world. Alex watched, a quiet pride swelling in him, imagining these beasts as extensions of his will: loyal shadows ready to tear through any threat.

Satisfied, he led her deeper, past burrows where his rabbits huddled. The sight twisted something in him; their numbers had dwindled, fur matted and eyes dull from the dungeon's harsh trials. With a focused surge of will, he reshaped the space. New dens sprouted from the earth like living sculptures, cozy hollows lined with soft moss. Rabbits multiplied in a flurry of soft thumps and twitching ears, filling the air with life. Luna's gasp echoed his own satisfaction; this was power in motion, creation from nothing, a glimpse of the empire he could build. Seeing bails of fresh oat hay appearing near the rabbit dens while patches of different vegetable patches appeared.

Before the magic fully settled, he guided her back through the gate, sealing the portals underground Den with a mental command placing the wall back as it was. Upstairs, in the quiet sanctuary of her bedroom, Alex drew her close on the edge of the bed. The lamplight cast warm shadows over her face as he unraveled his tale: the journey beyond the city, the perils dodged, the secrets unearthed. He mentioned how lucky he was to have such a great nurse like Amber to serve him, his hand tracing the curve of her shoulder. Luna's lips curved in a knowing smile, her body leaning into his touch, the air between them thickening with unspoken heat.

He held her then, words flowing like a confession long held back. His Class, Dungeon Master, unfolded in vivid detail: the gates he summoned, the creatures he birthed, the endless grind toward dominance. Life had been simple once: porter runs, quiet nights. But now? He missed those fleeting three days of being worry-free. His days of walking carefree were over; now he needed cover. Allies were essential, a web of trust to shield him from the encroaching storm. Luna absorbed it all, her head resting against his chest, never once breaking his rhythm. He poured out the rescue of Mary, the pulse of adrenaline in that cursed hotel room. "I couldn't let a prime piece of rabbit meat end up on someone else's plate," he added, a teasing glint in his eyes.

Her laughter bubbled up, light and genuine, but it faded as she caught the raw truth in his gaze. She swatted his chest playfully. "You're a beast," she chided, her fingers lingering on the firm muscle beneath his shirt. The moment stretched, charged with affection. "I love you, you know that, right?" Alex whispered, pulling her tighter.

Tears shimmered in Luna's eyes, but his embrace steadied her. Their bodies pressed close in the dim room. The hug deepened, his hands roaming her back with a possessiveness that stirred deeper fires, where his strength met her softness in tangled sheets.

Plans spilled forth next, a blueprint for the chaos ahead. The basement called to him, a strategic heart for his operations, close to the dungeon's pulse. "Mary needs her own space upstairs," he said, his smile turning wicked, eyes darkening with intent. "And if I bring home a girl or two... well, we'll need room to play." Luna felt the heat of his words coil low in her belly. Her mind flashed to visions of shared nights: bodies entwined, breaths mingling in the basement's hidden glow. Fresh rabbits upstairs could slow-cook, she thought, a giggle escaping as warmth flushed her cheeks.

Alex savored her joy, the way her laughter lit the room like a secret flame. Porter jobs loomed next, deeper dungeons and richer rewards to fuel his ascent. But caution ruled. "No talking about anything outside the dungeon," he warned, voice firm. "Let's build our security first. We'll install cameras downstairs, eyes on every corner, no bugs slipping through. You're good with tech, aren't you? I'll float you credits to get what you need."

Luna's eagerness sparked at the spy cams, her mind already mapping angles. "I'll handle it," she promised, leaning in for a brush of lips that lingered just a beat too long. With their strategy set, Alex slipped her a few sleeping pills, watching as drowsiness softened her features. He kissed her goodnight, deep and lingering, tasting the promise of tomorrows before slipping away, pills confiscated.

The dungeon welcomed him back, its hum syncing with his pulse. Rallying the wolves with a commanding whistle, they surged into the linked E-rank realm, a labyrinth of jagged tunnels reeking of goblin filth. Alex trailed them, daggers drawn, as fangs tore into scrawny green hides. The pack overwhelmed, numbers crushing resistance. Wounded beasts fell back, snarling support from the rear. Goblins fell in heaps, their crude weapons clattering uselessly.

Victory piled up in less than twenty minutes: sixty goblin and wolf corpses yielded one hundred eighty points. Their crystal-like cores doubled it to three hundred sixty. The boss, a short, four-foot gob with a rusted axe, met a coordinated frenzy. Its roars silenced in a spray of blood. The chest spilled loot: gear that hummed with potential dungeon points and some day something more. Alex claimed it all, the grind igniting a singular purpose in his veins.
