Chapter 10 - chapter 9

The school corridor was noisy as usual — lockers slamming, girls giggling, boys arguing over basketball — but the moment he stepped in, something shifted.

Not silence.

Just… awareness.

Heads turned.

Whispers followed There he is."

"Yuan Mi…"

"Don't look at him too long."

"He's so handsome it's illegal."

He walked calmly, hands in his pockets, expression unreadable. His dark hair fell slightly over his forehead, shadowing eyes that never seemed impressed by anything.

He didn't smile.

He didn't wave.

He didn't need to.

Confidence clung to him like a second skin. Behind him, heels clicked dramatically.

Of course.

Haoxiaoyi.

She walked like she owned the ground she stepped on. Long wavy hair cascading perfectly down her back, designer bag swinging at her side, uniform altered just enough to scream expensive. Even her lip gloss probably cost more than someone's monthly allowance.

Her smile was sweet.

Too sweet.

The kind of sweet that gave you cavities. The entire classroom fell silent the moment hewalked in.

Not because the teacher demanded it.

Not because anyone told them to.

But because Yuan Mi had entered.

His footsteps were calm. Unhurried. Controlled.

He didn't look at anyone.

Didn't greet anyone.

Didn't need to.

Respect followed him naturally.

Fear did too.He slid into his seat near the window, his dark eyes emotionless, distant — like he existed in a world no one else could reach.

Whispers filled the air anyway.

"That's him…"

"Yuan Mi…"

"They said he rejected Haoxiaoyi again yesterday…"

"He's scary…"

"He's perfect…"

He ignored all of it.

None of it mattered.

But for some reason…

His mind wandered.

To a girl.

A girl who ran from him.

Haoxiaoyi hear the whisperings and she wasn't just gonna lose facein front of everyone.she approached Yuan, sitting beside him delicately.

"~Yuan Mi~" she called softly, trying to catch his attention. "Did you see my message last night?"

He didn't look at her.

"I was busy."

She pouted slightly — but only slightly. Never enough to look ugly. She was careful like that. In everyone's eyes, Haoxiaoyi was an angel.

Kind.

Elegant.

Perfect.

Teachers adored her.

Students admired her.

Parents praised her.

But behind that polished smile lived something sharp.

And that sharpness always appeared when Irene Lou was around.

Yuan stood up and left but haoxiaoyi followed him.

Yuan Mi stopped near the classroom door of class 6 .

For a second — just a second — his eyes shifted.

Across the hallway.

And there she was.

Irene.

Laughing loudly at something Bella said, completely unaware of the way the world subtly bent around him.

She wasn't trying to impress anyone.

Wasn't pretending.

Wasn't watching him like the others.

She didn't even notice him.

Strange.

His gaze lingered a second too long.

Haoxiaoyi noticed.

Of course she did.

Her manicured nails dug slightly into her palm.

What was so interesting about Irene?

Yuan Mi looked away first.

He entered the classroom without another word.

But something had already changed.

He didn't know why.

He just knew—

For the first time in a long while…

School didn't feel completely boring anymore.Without explanation.

Without emotion.

But inside—

Something had shifted.

Something small.

Something new

His lips curved slightly.

A smirk.

Behind him, Haoxiaoyi stood frozen.

Her angelic mask still in place.

But her eyes burned with something ugly.

Something jealous.

Something furious.

She watched Irene across the hallway.

And in that moment—

She made a silent promise.

Irene Lou would regret this.

Very soon.
