Chapter 20 - 20

Chapter 20 Explosion Attack!

Chapter 20 Explosion Attack!

Su Jinjin lay on the soft mat, munching on her dinner while flipping through the diary she had brought from the supermarket.

Night falls.

It's the era of parasitic variants again.

Moonlight streamed through the window, and the occasional roar of a parasitic mutant drifted from afar, but none of this could affect her mood at that moment.

"Looks like we won't be leaving this city for a while..."

She muttered to herself, planning her route for collecting supplies tomorrow.

Just as Su Jinjin relaxed and was about to drift off to sleep, a deafening explosion suddenly ripped through the silence of the night.

"boom--!"

The entire crane shook, and Su Jinjin sat up abruptly, her forehead almost hitting the control panel.

She quickly climbed to the window and saw that on the other side of the town, towering flames dyed the night sky blood red, and thick smoke rose into the air like a giant beast.

"An explosion? Could it have been caused by a player?"

Su Jinjin's heart suddenly raced.

In this dead city that the military has abandoned, she couldn't think of any other possibility besides the player who could create such a commotion.

She immediately took out her analytical glasses and adjusted them to night vision + long-distance observation mode.

The distant view was clearly presented before her eyes:

An abandoned factory is burning fiercely, and countless twisted figures can be vaguely seen frantically fleeing in the flames.

It's a parasitic variant!

To her even greater shock, the ground around the factory was collapsing, revealing a huge underground cave from which even more monsters were swarming out.

In the dim light, Su Jinjin also saw a huge black shadow.

"Wait… this location…" Su Jinjin hurriedly pulled out the map she found in the supermarket to compare, "Isn't this the place marked as the 'parasitic nest'?"

A terrifying thought crossed her mind: "Could it be that some player wants to complete Mission 2, thinking that finding the monster's lair and detonating the bomb will make it an easy kill?"

Thinking of this, Su Jinjin couldn't help but gasp.

If that's the case, that player is practically committing suicide.

Keep in mind that nighttime is when parasitic variants are most active, let alone directly bombing their nests!

"This isn't just completing tasks, it's suicidal!"

That's downright suicidal.

Actually, Su Jinjin had some preconceived notions. Because she found newspapers about parasitic organisms and had the Eye of Resume, she was the first to know about parasitic mutations and the weaknesses of parasitic bloodworms, such as their fear of sunlight and water.

But that doesn't mean all players know these things.

It's also possible that this person in front of you is truly a hothead.

Su Jinjin stared intently at the distant firelight, her analytical glasses suddenly catching sight of a rapidly moving figure.

It was a figure dressed in black.

Then Su Jinjin saw the person throw a red object onto the ground, and the object quickly grew larger.

It eventually transformed into a cool red Formula 1 race car.

The man immediately jumped into the race car and sped through the buildings at an astonishing speed, pursued by at least twenty ferocious parasitic variants.

Even more terrifying, as the explosions continued, the parasitic variants throughout the town were alerted.

"This race car? Jing Ningyu?"

Su Jinjin saw this scene through the analytical glasses and thought of the person she had met during the day.

"As expected, this guy is a master of courting death."

As the explosion rang out, dark figures gathered from all directions toward the blast site, their sheer number sending chills down one's spine.

"She's gone mad...she's really gone mad..." Su Jinjin muttered to herself.

She suddenly felt very fortunate that she had chosen the crane as her refuge; if she were still on the street, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

The battle in the distance grew increasingly intense, with explosions echoing everywhere.

Jing Ningyu drove his F1 race car swiftly through the empty streets.

Su Jinjin saw Jing Ningyu throwing some black, round objects out of the race car while driving.

These spherical objects then continued to create new explosions within the parasitic mutant swarm.

These items are clearly bombs.

"Could it be that this bomb was also transformed from a toy thanks to his innate ability?"

If so, Su Jinjin was truly envious.

However, although the explosion was very powerful, there were just too many monsters, and Jing Ningyu's race car was quickly blocked.

One of the parasitic variants caused the race car to overturn by performing a suicidal impact.

"It's over..." Su Jinjin unconsciously held her breath.

I think Jing Ningyu is doomed.

"What a waste of such great talent!"

Su Jinjin silently took off her analytical glasses, no longer wanting to see his miserable state.

He leaned against the wall in the driver's cab, his feelings a mix of emotions.

What she saw and heard tonight made her deeply aware of the cruelty of this instance.

Even players with great talent can be doomed if they make the slightest mistake.

"I need to be more careful tomorrow..." she whispered to herself.

...

Last night, explosions rang out one after another, and the roars of the parasitic monsters echoed throughout the night. Su Jinjin tossed and turned, barely getting any sleep.

As the first rays of dawn pierced through the clouds, the commotion outside finally subsided.

"Phew—" Su Jinjin rubbed her aching temples and forced herself to cheer up. "Don't think too much, Su Jinjin. Just focus on stockpiling supplies."

After cheering herself up and tidying up her temporary accommodation, she carefully climbed down the crane.

A thin mist hung over the streets in the early morning, and the smell of gunpowder from the previous night lingered in the air.

As if possessed, Su Jinjin's feet unconsciously walked towards the place where Jing Ningyu was last besieged last night.

"Just take a look, maybe I'll find something useful..." she comforted herself.

After walking through several streets, the sight before her made her gasp.

The entire area was severely damaged, with countless remnants of parasitic variants scattered among the charred remains of buildings.

In the center of the ruins, the familiar red race car had been reduced to a pile of twisted scrap metal.

"As expected... after being blown up like this, what else is there for me to pick up?" Su Jinjin was about to turn around and leave when she caught a glimpse of a huge white metal ball lying next to the wreckage of the race car.

The sphere's surface is as smooth as a mirror, gleaming with an unusual luster in the morning light, standing out starkly from its surroundings.

"What is this?" She approached cautiously and gently tapped the surface of the sphere with her hand.

"Clang clang!"

The crisp metallic sound was particularly jarring in the silent ruins.

What's even more chilling is that, perhaps due to Su Jinjin's touch, the sphere suddenly emitted a "click" mechanical sound, startling Su Jinjin so much that she took several steps back.

Thinking of Jing Ningyu's talent.

"No way... this is Jing Ningyu's last life-saving measure, conjured from a toy?"

The metal sphere slowly unfolded, like a blooming flower.

Inside, a figure covered in blood was curled up.

It was Jing Ningyu.

His condition was extremely bad: his combat uniform was torn to shreds, and his exposed skin was covered with deep wounds that revealed the bone. The most serious wound was a laceration on his right thigh, in which the white bone was faintly visible.

"Tsk... He's still alive despite being injured like that? What kind of magic pills does this guy have?" Su Jinjin frowned and instinctively took two steps back.
