Chapter 4 - The predator's Gaze and The Fragile light

in the deep Silence of the Night Zavian stood on the rooftop Of the tallest building in the city. The wind made his black coat flutter. He spread his palm. and felt the air. Then, in a very cool and cold voice, he Said

Interesting… I didn't expect my first prey. to appear so soon.

There was a smile on his face. One that was both cold and deadly. He looked up at the sky and let out a soft cry, as if feeling his own power.

"Listen! i am the Demon King! It seems my return to my own world, the Demon Realm,

will be very soon… because I have found my prey. For now, there is only one. but soon, this place will be filled with nothing but corpses!

Just then, from behind, his loyal soldier who had now become Karan, spoke in a teasing tone while holding back his laughter.

Forgive me, King Zavian… but you've only found one prey so far. Celebrating this early? There are still countless prey left.

Zavian's pride took a small hit. He widened his eyes and turned back. His dominance. faded slightly, and he spoke with a slight stutter:

"Ye...Yes! So what if it's just one? if I found one, I'll find the rest too! Are you doubting me?

But the very next moment, Zavian's playful mood vanished. His face hardened, and his dark brown eyes suddenly turned blood red. A terrifying seriousness. took over his expression.

"Remember this, Karan… when I return, I will rule the Demon Kingdom in my own way. The ancient rules that have existed for centuries will be changed. My will shall become the law!

As soon as he said this, Zavian leapt off the building without hesitation. Before he could fall, his body dissolved into the air like black smoke.

Zavian now floated in the sky, Looking down at the world below with his red eyes. Beneath him, humans stood on their rooftops, enjoying the cool aur. laughing and talking.

those innocent people had no idea that their 'Death' Zavian. was passing right above their heads. A shadow that did not

Belong to their world. Zavian looked down, and suddenly his Gaze stopped… that same old locket began to glow.

Zavian floated through the air like a black shadow, focused only on his prey. But the moment he passed over the ( Li )

Mansion, the burning sensation in his locket intensified. Forced by it, he descended and hid in a dark corner of the terrace.

There, Sheyaan stood with her elder brother Fangxi. Both had their eyes closed, hands folded, praying for sheyaan departed parents. Fangxi's face was serious, but Sheyaan's tears Refused to stop.

Sheyaan sobbed softly as she looked up at the sky, as if her parents were hiding behind the stars.

"Mamma … dad… why did you le...leave me alone? Eve...Everyone in this house feels li...like a stranger. Can you he...hear my voice?

Zavian stood in the shadows, listening to everything. He felt no sympathy for human sorrow; instead, Sheyaan's crying irritated him. Looking at her with his red eyes, he thought in an annoyed tone:

"Humans are so strange… they expect answers from people who've already turned to dust, as if someone will throw down a ladder from the sky. This girl… what a noisy soul.

Suddenly, Zavian's gaze fixed on Sheyaan's face. Something clicked in his mind. His thoughts raced back to that night on the highway. blood everywhere, screams filling the air.

"Wait… it's her. The same little 'highway glitch' who survived even in the middle of death. Fate is annoyingly stubborn, throwing the same piece of trash in my path again and again.

Fangxi placed a hand on Sheyaan's shoulder and began leading her inside. Fangxi's presence only irritated Zavian more. Human bonds felt like nothing but burdens to him.

Zavian looked at Sheyaan one last time. His heart didn't soften. instead, his irritation grew stronger. Her innocence was disturbing his demon energy in a strange way.

"That crying face of yours is killing my appetite," Zavian muttered under his breath, his voice dissolving into the wind.

"Let me find my prey before this 'purity' of yours makes me sick."

With a sudden surge, Zavian vanished from there. He headed straight toward the alley where his prey awaited. He had

Decided to stay away from the "highway girl" but little did he know, this was only the Beginning.

Behind the city's shining lights, there was a rotten, dark alley where the noise of the crowd slowly faded away. There, a man was staggering.

this was the same human whose soul Zavian needed. A bottle of alcohol hung loosely in his hand, and in his drunken state, he was cursing the world. He had no idea that the final clock of his life was ticking.

Suddenly, the cold Air of the alley came to a halt. From the sky, a dark shadow descended at lightning speed. When Zavian

landed on the ground, it wasn't like a bird touching down it was a Grand Hero's landing, perfectly upright. The moment His boots touched the ground, the earth trembled.

As Zavian began stepping toward the man, the terrifying Black Smoke scattered behind him slowly started to fade away, as if

the darkness itself was clearing the path for its king. Around his neck hung that strange clock, spinning faster with every passing second.

The drunk man screamed in fear,

"Who are you? Stay back! In his intoxicated state, he tried to raise his hand at Zavian, but without moving even an inch,

Zavian froze him in place with just his gaze. In complete silence and flawless style, Zavian flicked the man's hand away in mid-air.

In a cold yet commanding (heroic) voice, Zavian said:

"You think you can kill me? You wasted your entire life drinking this poison. The weight of your sins is already full.

He looked straight into the man's eyes and said something the man had never even imagined.

"Your death will not come by a sword. Your body is already collapsing. due to kidney failure. I am only here to free you from this burden.

Zavian extended his right hand forward. From his palm, a Blood-Red Light began to emerge, illuminating the dark alley.

As soon as he placed his hand near the man's head a Milky White Light started to come out from the man's body. this was his soul.

That white light turned into an envelope and disappeared. from Zavian's hand along with a red light.

Zavian said in a mysterious and cool tone, "Hmm… one prey is collected, now it's the others' turn." Leaving that human there,

Zavian vanished into the dark alleys with black smoke, and in that alley, only the sound of broken glass bottles remained.

That crimson light in Zavian's hand and Sheyaan's pure innocence... could there be a hidden connection between them

from the past? Don't miss the next chapter, because Lucy is about to pull off a massive betrayal!
