"Oh, I've always trusted your abilities," Lina replied dryly.
"Actually, I think... you shouldn't have held this hunting festival, but since it has already happened... well, anyway..."
The Duke of Anjou spoke haltingly, as though he wanted to say something but couldn't find the right words. Lina stared at him in bewilderment, wondering whether he had eaten something strange that morning. Under her gaze, the Duke instinctively frowned, his expression suggesting that he was about to sneer or lose his temper. By then, they had reached the palace entrance, where a group of attendants was already waiting. He abruptly released Lina's arm.
"I must take my leave now, Your Majesty."
He delivered the words with exaggerated politeness, bowed, and walked away.
