As he entered the library, Otaku couldn't stop looking around. Rows upon rows of books stretched out before him, towering shelves bathed in warm light. The calm atmosphere slowed his breathing, easing the tightness in his chest.
As he was checking out the library out he eyes locked onto someone.
It was Iris.
His eyes widened, and his shoulders stiffened instantly. Iris noticed and let out a quiet breath, and calmed down. She patted Otaku's shoulder, and pointed towards a corner.
There, a small girl was arranging books while moving her head vibing to the music.
Following Iris's lead, Otaku began to move towards the girl, slow and silent steps. Before taking his 3rd step, a large hand appeared in front of him, stopping him.
It was the owner.
The man gazed into Otaku's soul, making him scared. For a moment, it was like he was ordered him to leave-and never return.
Iris immediately stepped between them, breaking the tension. She explained to him that Otaku was the person Serena had gone on a date with. The owner thought for a moment before stepping aside. Though nid gaze felt more like a warning rather than permission.
As the commotion settled, the girl turned around.
It was Serena.
Her eyes widened the moment she saw Otaku. She quickly turned away, brushing her hair aside as if buying herself a second to breathe. Otaku stepped closer. Serena straightened up after fixing her hair, and soon they stood facing each other in silence.
"O-Otaku," she said, looking down. "What are you doing here".
Otaku hesitated, then said "I realized... I forgot to take your number".
She exhaled softly and then laughed quietly while looking away from Otaku. He was shocked to see her laughing.
"Did I say something bad?" he asked.
"No-No, it's not that" She stopped as she was shaking her head and said "You do know that i asked Iris set to us up, right"
The moment the words left her mouth,she froze and immediately covered her mouth and turned her head down again.
Otaku was dumbfounded.
