I would break completely if I had to be in her position.
Without Vivienne, I was nothing.
They said the mate bond was capable of doing and undoing. Right now, the mate bond she had with her husband had been severed. She was just a hollow version of herself, waiting for death too.
There was nothing I was going to say to relieve her pain.

With that, I turned on my heel and headed straight to my private study.
I needed quiet.
I needed to pour over the territorial maps and figure out what the hell had driven an entire rogue army to retreat the exact moment we claimed Vivienne.
I walked away from the scene, away from the eastern part of the back and straight for my study.
Immediately I pulled the mahagony door open, the dark room welcomed me.
I had barely been here, barely been attendant to the pack due to the war.
I reached forward and plopped on my desk, rubbing my temples as exhaustion began to drag through my bones.
