Chapter 2 - Black Arrow

10 years ago, the Earth was ravaged by an unknown virus. The virus was highly infectious, entering the human body through bodily fluids causing infection. Once infected, the virus would alter the DNA of the infected, changing their body, and turning them into monsters known as the Gastrea.

And because of how contagious it was, it easily spread throughout the world, no country was safe from the virus. Humanity naturally fought back against the seemingly endless tide of monsters but were pushed back and eventually defeated.

In order to safeguard the future of humanity, massive black monoliths were created and walled around cities. These monoliths were made from Varanium, and were barricades that kept the Gastrea out.

Now the year is 2031, 10 years after the Gastrea virus had created the apocalypse. With the monoliths keeping the monsters out, new monsters of human nature were born from superstition and hatred…

~BOOM~

The ground was dry and cracked, filled with craters and bodies. Across the barren land lay the remains of countless Gastrea, their bodies scattered across the area. Bladed weapons and arrows embedded in many of them.

Each one had different forms and sizes, different from each other. The only similarity amongst them were the blades sticking out of their bodies.

~Swoosh~

Another arrow was launched, driving itself through the head of a Gastrea, flying through and penetrating the body of another.

At the top of a tall rock spire stood a single figure. She held a large black bow that was taller than she was, it was an almost comical sight if not for the fact that many arrows fired from it easily broke the sound barrier.

She was a young girl with tanned skin and white rose-colored hair. She wore a black and red outfit, similar to the uniform of a certain counter guardian.

The ground shook, a much larger Gastrea charged from behind and rammed into the rock spire. Cracks spread through the stone as the structure began to collapse.

"Tch"

With a click of her tongue, the girl reacted instantly. Jumping backward, flipping away from the breaking spire. While still in the air, she fired two more arrows in quick succession.

Both arrows finding their mark into the creature's head.

She landed on the ground smoothly and the black bow in her hands disappeared into motes of light and in its place two twin swords appeared, one with a white blade and the other black.

Several Gastrea charged toward her, but she didn't hold her ground. Instead, she ran at them with speed a human shouldn't possess. Striking down each Gastrea one by one with precise yet almost reckless fighting style.

When the last creature fell, the area became quiet once again.

The girl stood still and took a deep breath. Her chest rose and fell as she recovered. Around her were the remains of countless defeated Gastrea, the sun now low in the sky, signaling the end of the day.

She looked up and frowned.

"Why are there so many of these things!?" she shouted at the sky. "I've been fighting since sunrise!"

Yet no voice answered her. She could only kick a nearby corpse in frustration.

When she was done venting, she sat on one of the large corpses, the weapons all around her now slowly turning into motes of light, disappearing from the world.

'What the hell type of world is this?'

'And why am I here? Isn't my second life in another world supposed to be in a fantasy world with elves and dragons? Being overpowered with a game system and effortlessly getting a harem?'

'So why the hell is there nothing but monsters? And why the hell am I a little girl? What cruel god thought it was funny to make me a child and throw me into a battlefield? And I've been here for weeks and yet there is no sign of civilization…'

She let out a sigh and stood up, now with a determined look on her face.

"Whatever… Screw you fate! I'll survive!" She yelled out toward the heavens, arms raised in rebellion.

Then she calmed down as the full moon slowly ascended.

'Well, the only good thing about this is that I got transmigrated as a strong character. Maybe not a top-tier servant but she's definitely more than enough to deal with the threats I've seen so far. But on that note, why Chloe? Couldn't I have gotten someone cooler like Artoria who seems to be so popular in Marval fanfics for some reason or maybe Lady Avalon or, umm… I guess any hot female character that is overpowered.'

'But I guess creating weapons out of thin air and shooting swords like arrows is also cool.'

She then clapped her hands together. "Alright, time to hit the road again. Though which way was I going before I was attacked?" She rubbed her head. "Oh well, I guess it's time for the old reliable!"

She projected a metal stick and stood it up on the ground, standing perfectly still. She watched the stick for a few minutes before a small gust of wind knocked it over, pointing in one direction.

"That way it is then!"
