Chapter 214 - Chapter 213: Outside the Gods Eye, the Forest Specter*

*

Riverlands, Gods Eye, an unknown forest

"The girl of High Heart..."

Amidst a series of somewhat high-pitched voices, a song with a cheerful rhythm drifted from the depths of the forest.

"Your Majesty Aegon! That is the Ghost of High Heart that people have always whispered about. Rumor has it she is one of the Children of the Forest, much like the Green Men in the Gods Eye—an existence that has mastered miraculous powers."

Under Roose Bolton's introduction, Jon also learned some details about the owner of that voice.

This witch, known as the "Ghost of High Heart," lived deep within the dense forest and possessed the mysterious power to foresee the future.

Beings like her have always been quite numerous across Westeros and Essos; some have even influenced the course of history. Cersei's prophecy, for instance, originated from a certain witch in the Westerlands.

A while ago, after seeking a divination from this witch, Roose Bolton had been boasting to Jon about how incredibly powerful she was. Since Jon happened to have some free time lately,

he followed Roose Bolton here directly, wanting to see this being who was said to have lived for hundreds of years.

Indeed, hundreds of years—the legend of the Ghost of High Heart has existed since the time of Aegon V. Duncan Targaryen, who married a commoner girl, was said to have met that Jenny, who reportedly possessed witch-like powers, near this very area.

When Roose Bolton led Jon into the forest and found the witch's hut, she was sitting by the hearth, boiling a pot of thick soup—or perhaps a potion—infused with unknown ingredients.

"Hello there, respected lady. It is a pleasure to meet you!"

Upon seeing the witch, Jon greeted her very politely.

After hearing Jon's opening remarks, the witch turned her cloudy gaze toward him.

The witch appeared to be an albino; one could still tell she was human from her features, unlike the Children of the Forest in that poorly-ended TV series.

After hearing Roose Bolton's words, Jon had assumed she was a half-blood Child of the Forest or perhaps a Child of the Forest like Leaf who had learned the Common Tongue.

Unfortunately, after seeing her true face, Jon felt a slight tinge of disappointment in his heart.

"You should not be here, Aegon Targaryen. You should... no... that's not right..."

Just then, the witch suddenly felt a powerful surge of energy, and her gaze involuntarily shifted behind Jon.

There, she seemed to see a colossal demonic dragon; its eyes shimmered with a malevolent light, and its body was surrounded by dark magic.

A single flap of those eight pairs of wings seemed capable of stirring up a terrifying storm. Its blood-red and purple scales looked exceptionally noble, as if they were made of gemstones.

Sensing the witch's gaze, the demonic dragon behind Jon also looked directly at her.

Boom...

With just that one look, the witch felt as if her body were being pinned down; she felt as though something were pressing heavily upon her shoulders and head.

Panting heavily...

Fortunately, that gaze lasted only an instant, yet even that momentary sensation made the witch feel an unprecedented pressure.

Shocked by this power, the witch realized that the demonic dragon's strength seemed to have no connection to this world, much like the legendary Outer Gods.

Jon seemed to notice the witch's abnormality. It appeared this person did indeed have some genuine skill.

"What did you see?"

The witch took a deep breath, seemingly trying to calm her emotions. After glancing at Jon, she spoke directly:

"Your Majesty Aegon, I saw an incredibly powerful existence—so powerful that I can no longer see your future clearly."

"What are your thoughts on the three-eyed crow and the Night King?"

The other party seemed reluctant to have much to do with him, but Jon didn't want to leave it at that, so he asked this question directly.

Hoo...

As Jon's words fell, a terrifying pressure appeared directly upon him.

"You have finally appeared again!"

With the help of the demonic dragon, Jon saw an entity located behind the witch—a three-eyed crow monster.

"Caw... you... who exactly are you?"

A deep and hollow voice, like a thunderclap, erupted in Jon's mind. The voice was both familiar and strange, as if it belonged to one of Jon's own kin.

"Should I call you the Old Gods, or perhaps the Lion of Night?"

"Who exactly are you?"

When Jon looked around, he was surprised to find that he, who had just been in the forest, had been pulled directly into a bizarre space.

As that voice continued to echo, everything within this distorted space seemed to be affected by it.

"Who exactly are you?"

"Has communication failed?"

Seeing that the other party remained in this state, Jon spoke those words with a hint of helplessness.

"Then let us settle this with our strength!"

As Jon's voice fell, his body began to transform into the demonic dragon. With the emergence of that singular power, his body swelled up bit by bit.

Ah... Roar...

When the demonic dragon appeared in this distorted space, the three-eyed crow monster opposite him also transformed into a similarly colossal creature.

The two massive monsters confronted each other in this distorted space, their gazes meeting as if testing each other's strength.

The demonic dragon that Jon had become spread its eight pairs of colossal wings and let out a deafening roar. This sound was like a terrifying shockwave, rushing toward the opponent with matchless might.

The crow monster on the other side let out a sharp, piercing cry, launching an attack toward Jon in a similar manner.

Boom... Crack...

The two terrifying shockwaves of energy collided in the space. Following this horrific explosion, the space itself began to shatter.

Having sensed the opponent's strength, the demonic dragon that Jon had become engaged in a fierce battle with the crow monster.

Their attack speeds were incredibly fast; every collision caused the surrounding air to fluctuate, generating intense waves of energy.

Roar...

Seizing an opportunity, Jon directly exhaled a terrifying blast of dragonfire. Like apocalyptic celestial fire, the dragonfire rushed straight at the crow monster.

Caw...

The crow monster also screeched, emitting a terrifying mass of distorted dark energy.

Boom... Crack...

As the two forces alternated, they formed a brilliant battle scene, though this power was filled with danger and destruction.

Realizing that their strengths were roughly equal, the demonic dragon Jon had become displayed its full power. Its claws and tail were capable of releasing destructive force, pushing the crow monster back with every strike.

However, the crow monster was not to be outdone. Utilizing its power as a creator of this world, it constantly weakened Jon's strength in a very eerie manner.

As time passed, the creature seemed to realize that Jon's power was seemingly inexhaustible. No matter how it counterattacked, it was constantly suppressed by Jon.

Had it not been constantly using the powers of space and time to distort this place, it likely would have died several times over by now.

The battle grew exceptionally fierce. Under Jon's assault, the crow monster completely abandoned the idea of a direct confrontation, constantly shifting its position in an attempt to find a flaw in Jon's defense.

The battle between Jon and this creature seemed to have no end; only the fall of one side could conclude this bitter struggle.

Roar...

Ultimately, under Jon's control, the demonic dragon, relying on its tenacious will and immense strength, successfully bit into the crow monster's body.

Immediately after, terrifying attacks resembling smoke appeared on the demonic dragon's body. Under the influence of this power, the crow monster let out a shrill cry.

Smoke-like tentacles burrowed bit by bit into the crow monster's body, siphoning away all the energy it had possessed throughout its life.

After the battle ended, Jon clearly felt the changes within his own body. Most importantly, Jon gained countless memories, and it was through these memories that Jon learned of some of the world's origins and beginnings.

Furthermore, a crucial point was that his power seemed to have grown even stronger; he could feel his connection with this world becoming even tighter.

Or rather, he had now completely taken control of this distorted world. This was a mysterious realm existing outside the physical world, where Jon could communicate with entities wandering within the starry sky.

Jon finally understood why he had become so powerful after that exploration of King's Landing—it was because he had inadvertently released the Ancient Great Others from the imprisonment of the Seven Gods, or perhaps the Lord of Light.

This world is controlled by numerous Rule Gods. When certain existences or creatures are able to communicate with them, they obtain incredibly powerful strength.

Such power is nothing in the eyes of these Rule Gods. Much like a sacrifice to the Lord of Light, only certain special bloodlines can catch his attention, and even then, it is merely notice—it is like being bitten by a mosquito; it just itches a little.

And the mere act of it scratching that itch could lead to many changes in the world, such as the countless resurrections of some unlucky fellow.

In a sense, they are all immortal existences that can only be imprisoned or put to sleep. Jon's previous accidental actions had directly triggered the return of the Ancient Great Others, and it was precisely because of this that magic returned to this world.
