Chapter 2 - Fallen Kingdom

It seemed that the heavens were punishing the earth because of the wickedness and greed of humankind. A decade passed that seemed like a desert for the kingdom of the Onymfa, which once was known as one of the lands blessed and favored by the Gods.

It seemed the surroundings were running out of life, only dust and ashes of departed beings carried away by the wind. The surroundings had become like hell. The sky that was once blue was no longer beheld by the God of fire.

The beings of the Onymfa could be considered monsters; they ate one another in order to survive their hunger. Some chose simply to die and prayed that their god would bring their souls to its paradise home.

But there were a few who chose to take the lives of their fellow beings in order to live, hoping that they would be forgiven by the God they worship.

With the fall of the kingdom of Onymfa came the rise of their enemy in the other capital. The kingdom of Meteo was the home and kingdom of mixed fairies and sorcerers. Although their God was known to be the enemy of the God of the Onymfa, in the scriptures, the God of Meteo was a thief of the Virtue of the highest God in the entire universe.

There was once a war among the Gods in heaven. The Virtue of the highest God was reclaimed with the help of the God of the Onymfa whom they called Tuva, the God of Law.

Because of this, his land was blessed and given great favor by the highest God in all the earth.

In an unexpected turn of events, a change occurred. No one knew what truly happened in the second war of heaven. Gods against their fellow Gods.

The kingdom of the Onymfa was annihilated and brought down. Their prayers were not heard by Tuva, and some Onymfa lost hope and believed that they had been abandoned and forsaken by him.

There was once a war between the kingdoms of Meteo and Onymfa; the only aim of the kingdom of Meteo was to expand their race and kingdom. But the kingdom of the Onymfa carried the blessing of the highest God of the universe. They won the war, yet later it also fell and suffered severe drought and famine.

But the disappearance of King Demenus remained a mystery to many. Some Onymfa said he was cowardly and fled from responsibility, leaving them in their kingdom, while others said that he was cursed by the fairies because he was a threat to their kingdom.

To save the kingdom of Onymfa, the children of the Royales sacrificed themselves to travel and seek help from other kingdoms. To restore their kingdom that had been destroyed by God.

A heartfelt farewell was given by Arda's mother and she embraced her tightly.

"Arda…." weak and almost whispering said her mother whose frail and skin-and-bones body nearly collapsed to the ground.

"I-I will not last long… A-arda." she smiled gently and held both cheeks of her child. "Take care, my child… in paradise we will meet." She did not want to cry in front of her mother because she believed it would make it harder for her to leave the world. The atmosphere of the air was heavy and her chest tight as she felt the last warm embrace of her mother. And she repeatedly etched into her mind the mission entrusted by her family even though she was one of the remaining royales, the remaining hope to restore their kingdom.

"Ask Tuva why he allowed us to suffer like this," she said bitterly to her mother. "If God is real, why did he allow our kingdom to fall?" She sighed heavily and gently fixed the hair of her sibling who was now very thin, clinging to their mother's furniture. She slowly knelt before her sibling and gently brushed aside their hair.

"Hesanis, promise me that you will live…." Hesanis embraced her hand and kissed it.

"Promise that you will return to witness my triumph in leadership, Arda…." She tightly embraced her younger sibling and savored every moment before finally leaving the fallen kingdom to journey.

"I will return, Hesanis, I promise." Her voice was hoarse and trembling, and she nearly lost her balance standing as her knees weakened while stepping toward her fellow Royales of Onymfa.

"Hesi vre honu dasha kú, hada isu du-ah na i (Save our fallen kingdom, heroes!)."

"Nahu! (Promise!)." said the traveling Royales of Onymfa in unison.

Moments later, her companions vanished. She slowly gazed upon the ruined kingdom and lifeless trees, beings lying on the ground. Her fellow Onymfa fighting over the corpse of another Onymfa to make it food to survive hunger.

She could no longer look back at her mother who was dying. In a few moments, the sky lit up, the dark surroundings brightened and from it emerged hundreds of swords.

One sword caught her eyes. A sword different and not ordinary. She noticed it was heading toward where she stood, but her feet were rooted to the ground and she could not move.

Behind her she could hear the Onymfa in chaos, wails and screams of death. She quickly turned behind her and there she saw the body of her mother lying on the ground repeatedly trampled by their fellow Onymfa because of the chaos. Her sibling was weeping beside their mother's body, sitting while hugging themself, and for a moment the two of them locked eyes.

"A-arda."

"Hesani—" she stopped when she felt the sword buried in her chest. It felt hot. She bent slightly to look at the sword.

Bitterly, she fell to her knees and coughed blood. The air in her body thinned and her vision darkened.

" At the sprouting of trees and flowers, in the turning of the world from the orbit of Leo. In the opposite house of Aries facing the sun we shall meet again…." A familiar voice echoed in her mind.

"Find me in the century of water…." she weakly replied and with closed eyes drifted into nothingness.
