Chapter 75 - Prison Break

Time didn't work the same inside the Root prison which made sense because we were outside normal reality, and I had no idea if we'd been fighting for hours or days or years when Draven's consciousness noted something critically important.

"It's shrinking." His clinical assessment cutting through the chaos of another Root attack. "The Root. It's getting smaller. We're not just containing it. We're destroying it."

Destroying it. That was—wait, that was actually working?

"The hybrid power." Riven's voice carried realization. "It exists in contradiction to The Root's nature. The Root feeds on singular supernatural power—wolf or vampire or witch. But hybrid magic is contradictory. Paradoxical. It's poison to something that exists in absolutes."

Poison. We were poisoning The Root just by being here. By fighting it with hybrid-bonded consciousness.

"How long until it's gone?" Thorne's question was practical. Direct.
