Chapter 268 - Chapter 268: We’re Fairy Tail Mages

Boom…

Amid the cloud of dust and smoke, Jovian floated above all living things.

Boom!

After a long while, a massive boulder was blasted apart by flames, revealing Natsu and the others. They were all covered in dirt and ash, looking as though they had crawled out of a pit.

"It's over…"

Jovian clasped his hands behind his back and floated over to Natsu and the others, speaking calmly.

"Hey! We're teammates from the same guild, right? You didn't have to attack us too, did you?"

Lucy wanted to cry after hearing Jovian's words.

"I didn't attack you. The instant the island was about to hit you, I canceled out the attack for you, so all you got was dust on your bodies…"

Jovian explained after hearing her complaint.

"That's right. Otherwise, there's no way we could have avoided an attack on that level…"

After hearing Jovian's words, Erza nodded. She lightly brushed the dust off her body, but when she found that she could not clean the dirt off herself, her brows furrowed and she said softly, "Requip."

With a flash of yellow light, countless strips of cloth wrapped around her beautiful body. In the blink of an eye, she had changed into a new outfit.

"Jovian, I never thought you'd become this strong! Come fight me!"

As for Natsu, he did not care at all whether he was dirty or not. Before Lucy joined Fairy Tail, Natsu often slept in the park.

Boom!

With a roar, fierce flames wrapped around Natsu's body, and he charged straight at Jovian.

"Hey! Wait…"

Seeing Natsu attack Jovian entirely on his own, Gray and the others froze.

In the next second, Natsu's body stopped in midair. Then, along with a sheet of metal, his body landed on top of it and flew into the sky.

"Ugh…"

Because the metal sheet counted as transportation, Natsu immediately started retching. All the magic he had prepared went completely to waste.

"Natsu, didn't you say you were going to beat me?"

"Come on…"

Jovian controlled Natsu and the metal sheet with one hand, mocking him.

"Ugh…"

Natsu wanted to say something, but the moment he opened his mouth, it all turned into vomiting. He admitted it. He really was no match for Jovian.

"Eisenwald has been dealt with. Notify the Magic Council and have them come clean up the mess."

Jovian moved his fingers slightly and helped Natsu adjust a bit, then looked at Erza and the others beside him as he spoke.

"Notify the Magic Council?"

Gray and Erza's expressions both changed when they heard Jovian's words. In their eyes, the Magic Council was almost no different from the enemy.

"Relax."

"With me here, they won't say anything…"

Jovian looked very calm. Along the way, he had helped the Magic Council solve quite a few problems, so he still had some weight with them.

"All right…"

Gray hesitated for a moment, then nodded. He used a communication tool to notify the Magic Council that Eisenwald had been completely wiped out.

Not much time passed.

Squads of Magic Council soldiers in armor arrived near Eisenwald. The Mages stared at the huge stretch of forest that had been destroyed into ruins, their faces full of shock.

"What kind of attack could destroy this place so badly?"

Looking at Eisenwald, which had been reduced to a deep crater, all the Magic Council soldiers were stunned.

"In any case, I'll leave this place to you…"

Jovian looked at the approaching soldiers and spoke coldly.

"You are…"

"Mr. Jovian…"

When the Magic Council troops saw Jovian, a flash of shock crossed their faces.

"I said I'm leaving this place to you. After this, send the bounties for these Dark Mages to Fairy Tail. Is that clear?"

Jovian spoke to the person who looked like the soldiers' commanding officer.

"Yes, sir…"

The man who seemed to be the commanding officer immediately nodded, as if he were extremely afraid of Jovian.

"Is Jovian some big shot?"

"Those people from the Council seem really scared of him…"

Lucy looked at the Magic Council Mages, who were all showing fear, and asked in confusion.

"Shh…"

"You don't know Lord Jovian?"

"He's the monster who helped the Kingdom of Fiore completely annihilate nearly a hundred thousand soldiers from an enemy nation on the border half a year ago! They say that in an instant, a mixed army of a hundred thousand Mages and soldiers vanished completely. There were even experts among them who were said to rival S-Class Mages…"

After hearing Lucy's confused words, one soldier walked over with a nervous expression and explained quietly to her.

"He killed a hundred thousand people in an instant?"

Lucy's eyelid twitched slightly. She found it hard to believe that Jovian, who looked refined but not especially approachable, had actually done something so exaggerated. So was this what Erza meant when she said she could not accept Jovian's methods?

"There are countless people on this continent…"

"Every person lives according to the path of their own life…"

"Their deaths were simply because they insisted on trying to stop a carriage with a mantis's arm."

Jovian seemed to have heard Lucy's conversation with the others. He floated over beside Lucy and spoke softly.

"Uh…"

Lucy's heart trembled as she listened to Jovian compare himself to a carriage and a hundred thousand soldiers to a mantis's arm. Honestly, this was the first time she truly understood just how terrifying a powerful Mage could be on a battlefield.

"Let's go. We're heading back to report the job."

Jovian looked at the frightened Lucy, then turned and left.

"He really does still feel terrifying…"

Lucy muttered as she watched Jovian leave.

"Lucy is a coward…"

Happy flapped his little wings and came to Lucy's side, muttering quietly.

"You're the coward."

Lucy spoke angrily after hearing Happy's words.

"We're going back…"

Erza retrieved all her weapons. They had completed today's job smoothly as well. It really had not been easy.

"Speaking of which, we aren't far from where the guild masters are meeting…"

"Should we go with the master?"

Erza seemed to have thought of something and asked everyone.

"They're all a bunch of old men…"

"Boring. I'm going back."

Jovian shook his head, indicating that he did not want to attend the guild masters' gathering.

"All right…"

"In that case, let's go back."

After hearing Jovian's words, Erza did not intend to force it. Since Jovian did not want to go to the guild masters' gathering, then they would not go.

As Jovian summoned the metal sheet…

Everyone began the journey back.

"No way! I don't want to ride transportation!"

Natsu's face turned blue and purple when he saw the metal sheet Jovian had summoned. He really hated transportation.

"Natsu, come here…"

After hearing Natsu's words, Erza reached out a helping hand toward him.

Pfft.

With Erza's punch, which came with the sound of a sonic boom, the only person present who opposed using transportation, the lone holdout Natsu, could no longer make any sound at all.

Once the only person who did not want to ride transportation had been silenced, everyone stepped onto Jovian's metal sheet.

Boom…

With a roar, Jovian carried everyone into the sky.

"Whoa, so top-tier Mages all fly?"

Watching Jovian and the others soar into the sky, the Magic Council soldiers were all stunned.

"Now you've learned something, right?"

"I once saw Councilman Siegrain fly into the sky with golden light shining all over his body. Top-tier Mages fly around all the time. Trust me, there's absolutely no mistake…"

A well-informed Magic Council soldier puffed out his chest and spoke loudly. He had once seen Councilman Siegrain, one of the Ten Wizard Saints, erupt with golden light and fly into the sky.

"Wow…"

After hearing the words of this knowledgeable person, the other Magic Council soldiers all gave looks of sudden understanding.

On the other side…

After the metal sheet everyone was riding flew through the high sky for an hour, they finally returned to the town where Fairy Tail was located.

"We're here…"

Seeing that they had arrived at the Fairy Tail guild, Jovian controlled the metal sheet and lowered it. Then everyone climbed down from the metal sheet and landed on the ground.

After everyone landed safely, Jovian casually tossed the metal sheet beside him to the side, then pushed open the guild's main doors alone and walked inside.

"Ah, it's Jovian!"

"You all left this morning, and you already finished the job?"

Seeing Jovian and the others return, Mirajane immediately came over and greeted Jovian.

"Yeah…"

"The job itself was simple."

Jovian casually found a seat and sat down. Then he waved to Mirajane and said, "Please get me a mug of iced beer."

"Coming right up."

Mirajane cheerfully prepared an iced beer for Jovian. She also prepared water for everyone else, as well as a creamy drink for Erza.

"Thanks…"

Everyone thanked Mirajane one after another.

"Lucy, how did it feel going on your first job with Jovian and the others?"

Mirajane looked at Lucy, who had not said a word since returning to the guild, and asked.

"Very cold…"

"Very fast…"

"Very violent…"

Lucy recalled how they had kept flying through the sky, then found the enemy, then Jovian solved the enemy by throwing an island at them. She summarized the entire process in three words.

"Ahaha…"

"Going on a job with them for the first time really is hard to get used to…"

Mirajane smiled wryly. She could read far too much from Lucy's expression.

"No, I already don't want there to be a second time. It was too terrifying…"

Lucy kept shaking her head, indicating that she did not want to experience going on a job with Jovian a second time.

"What about you, Jovian? Did you get what you wanted?"

Mirajane paused for a moment, then asked Jovian.

"No."

"They were too annoying, so I wiped them all out directly. Naturally, the information I wanted to ask about was cut off too…"

Jovian shook his head. Under the force of that island, even if anyone survived, they probably would not be able to provide intelligence anymore.

"Looks like you went overboard again…"

Mirajane could roughly guess what Jovian had done.

"Probably."

After Jovian finished his beer, he placed the money on the table, nodded to Mirajane, and walked out of the guild.

"That guy is really mysterious. He feels like a completely different person from the old Jovian…"

After Jovian left, the Fairy Tail members instantly gathered around and started commenting.

"You can't judge people by appearances! Besides, Jovian is still very handsome…"

Mirajane glared at everyone. Then she clasped her hands together beside her face and spoke with a smile.

"It's over…"

"Mirajane actually called someone handsome…"

"Dear wife, I have fallen out of love again…"

Wakaba's heart shattered the instant he heard Mirajane's words.

"Hey, hey, hey. You already have a wife, and you're still saying things like that…"

"What a troublesome old man!"

After hearing Wakaba's words, everyone immediately started roasting him. After all, Wakaba was a man who already had a wife and child.

"Is Jovian really going to be okay?"

Erza looked in the direction Jovian had left and whispered softly.

After seeing the strength Jovian displayed along the way, as well as his ruthless methods toward others, Erza could not help wondering if Jovian might walk down the wrong path.

"Believe in our companion, Erza. We're Fairy Tail Mages."

Mirajane looked at the hesitant Erza and spoke softly.

"I suppose believing in Jovian is the only thing we can do…"

Erza seemed somewhat helpless, but she still agreed with Mirajane's words.

Days passed, one after another.

A few days later, Makarov also returned to the guild.

"Seriously, you people actually didn't come back with me! You have no respect for me as the guild master at all!"

Makarov looked somewhat angry. He had originally wanted to hitch a ride with them. In the end, in order to save money, he had walked back.

"It was too far. It would've wasted time…"

Jovian held a mug of beer and spoke unhurriedly.

"I'm an old man! I'm already eighty or ninety years old, practically at the age where I should be buried! Shouldn't you people help me out?"

Makarov started using his age as an excuse.

"Not my problem."

Jovian's attitude seemed very firm.

"Hahaha…"

"Old man, you're being mocked. Why not just hand the position of guild master over to me?"

On the second floor, Laxus, who had burst into laughter after listening to Jovian and Makarov, walked out and seized the chance to tell Makarov to step aside.

"You people really have no respect for the elderly!"

Makarov looked at Laxus and Jovian and cursed angrily.

"Laxus, fight me!"

Natsu spotted Laxus on the second floor and shouted excitedly.

However…

Before he could finish speaking…

Waves of sleep-inducing magic spread through the entire Fairy Tail guild.

Just as the vast majority of Fairy Tail's guild members fell asleep, a masked man with a magic staff on his back walked in.

Gulp. Gulp.

When the man saw Jovian completely ignoring his magic and drinking heavily, he was clearly stunned. In his memory, there should have been only three people in the entire guild who could resist his magic.

"Need something?"

Jovian looked at the masked man who had stopped in front of him and raised a brow.
