Chapter 161 - Chapter 161: Jovian Marches Toward the Multiverse

After killing Dormammu, Jovian cast his body down into the lowest dimension of the universe, then used it to build an entire hell blazing with endless fire.

By taking advantage of Dormammu's ability to exist in any space and remain unconstrained by time, and by exploiting the dimensional cosmos inside Dormammu's body, Jovian cleverly created a hell that belonged to his own universe.

But after using Dormammu's body to build hell, Jovian still did not stop. He tore Dormammu's consciousness out of that body, then nailed it to the gates of hell.

"Dormammu, just stand here and watch how my hell and my universe grow."

"Watch your body work for me forever."

After turning Dormammu's consciousness and head into the gates of hell, Jovian looked at him with a teasing smile.

"You bastard…"

Dormammu could feel his body, along with the universe he had painstakingly built up, being swallowed clean by Jovian. Hellfire blazed in his eyes as he stared coldly at him. If looks could kill, he would have murdered Jovian thousands of times over already.

"Hahaha…"

Faced with Dormammu's rage, Jovian only chuckled softly. He no longer paid any attention to this invader of countless dimensions, the mighty Dormammu.

"Next up, I keep expanding my universe."

With a wave of Jovian's hand, the sack of Infinity Stones he held began to glow. The next second, the Stones flew into the universe that belonged to him.

Once that sackful of Infinity Stones fell into Jovian's universe, the whole cosmos became like land that had suffered through years of drought, only to finally receive a spring rain and recover the vitality it was always meant to have.

Spring had come. Life was waking up again. The universe itself seemed ready to bloom anew…

Jovian closed his eyes. With the help of the Infinity Stones, he could feel his entire universe swelling to a greater scale, and his own power growing stronger than before. He had taken another massive step toward becoming an immortal being on the multiversal level.

"Back to work. One day, I'll surpass Eternity."

Jovian steadied his mind. Energy seemed to burn faintly within his eyes, and in the next instant his figure vanished from his own universe and headed straight for the MCU.

Then he slammed into a wall.

Jovian tried again and again to enter the MCU, but every attempt gave him the same result.

Access denied.

"What the hell?"

Standing in the void, Jovian looked at the multiversal bubble that represented the MCU, confusion in his eyes.

"Jovian, we've got a serious problem!"

Just as Jovian was puzzling over it, a great bald head suddenly appeared beside him.

"Watcher… Green Watcher."

From the band on the Watcher's wrist, Jovian recognized exactly which of the Red, Green, and Purple trio this one was.

"Jovian, I just tried to return to the MCU and failed. The MCU's Eternity must have realized what we were after. He's denied us entry."

The Watcher scratched his shiny bald head and spoke in utter frustration.

"Even you got locked out?"

Jovian had not expected the Eternity inside the MCU to be so cautious that he would refuse entry even to the Watcher of his own universe.

"Yeah. Which means, unfortunately, the three of us have all been fired…"

The Watcher let out a sigh. After a lifetime of brilliance, he had actually ended up blacklisted by Eternity over something like this.

"So can our plan still move forward?"

Jovian raised a brow. Whether Eternity would allow him access or not could wait. What he cared about was whether he could still use the Watcher's plan to become a multiversal-level existence.

"The plan can still work. Even though I got fired by the MCU's Eternity, I found out I haven't been fired by the broader Marvel Omniverse. That means I can still go back there and keep serving as a Watcher."

The Watcher made it clear there was no need to panic. They still had a backup plan.

"I think we should just go all the way, kill the Living Tribunal outright, and take over as the Marvel Omniverse's Living Tribunal. Forget Eternity, who needs that job…"

The Watcher turned to Jovian and offered his suggestion.

"I'm out."

Jovian waved at the Watcher and returned straight to his own universe.

"Uh…"

The Watcher, no, more accurately, the Interferer who had already abandoned his work as a Watcher, stared at Jovian's departing figure and scratched his bare scalp, unable to understand what he had said wrong. All they had to do was interfere a little, stir up conflict between Eternity, Infinity, Oblivion, and Death, and the Living Tribunal would come out to mediate. Then they could work with the First Firmament, promise that once Jovian took the Tribunal's place, the Firmament could become the Eighth Eternity.

That way, they could use the First Firmament's power to meddle with order and chaos, and while the Living Tribunal was busy mediating, they could ambush it directly. At the moment of the Tribunal's death, Jovian would step in and take its place. According to the Watcher's calculations, they had a 99.98% chance of successfully replacing the Tribunal. As for the remaining 0.02%, that depended on whether the One-Above-All and Fulcrum would interfere.

"Sigh…"

The Interferer let out a long breath and followed Jovian back to Jovian's universe. All he could say was that Jovian played it way too safe. He would not take risks. It was only the One-Above-All and Fulcrum, what was there to be afraid of? Roll up your sleeves and fight if somebody wants a problem.

"With the original plan no longer possible, what suggestions do you all have for advancing my universe?"

Floating in space, Jovian asked his advisers.

"You have two choices. First, you can crush those lower-tier universes one by one."

"That's the safest method. Every time you act, you're guaranteed to gain something. But the problem is that it's too slow."

"So I don't recommend that approach."

"The second option is to create countless avatars, send them out with your armies, and attack an infinite multiverse all at once."

"Have your armies spread the seeds throughout the cosmos. At that point, you won't need to waste any effort at all. You'll be able to swallow those universes into yourself and complete your own power."

After thinking for a while, Stephen gave Jovian two options.

"I prefer the second choice, but I don't have enough troops."

Jovian rubbed his chin. After considering it, he felt Stephen's second option suited him better.

"You can simply create large numbers of clone soldiers. That solves the shortage of manpower."

"As for the problem that clone soldiers tend to have flaws in their personalities…"

"I think the solution is simple. We can erase those personalities completely."

"Turn them into walking corpses. As long as they know what they're supposed to do, that's enough."

Stephen's expression stayed calm. Having witnessed far too much life and death, and having begun to think in terms of cosmic life and cosmic death, he no longer cared much about the survival of a bunch of clones.

"That makes sense. We'll do it your way."

Inwardly, Jovian gave Stephen full credit. The man had a point, so that settled it.

Jovian was the type who got things done. If something could be done, he would do it, no pointless talking.

"Dr. Genus, begin the troop-production plan."

"Use Thragg as the genetic template and mass-produce clone soldiers for me."

"And remember, don't leave them with any consciousness. I only want battle machines that do not fear death."

Just as Dr. Genus was continuing his research in his office, Jovian's voice suddenly rang out inside his mind.

"I understand, my lord!"

The moment he heard that voice, Dr. Genus immediately set aside his current work and turned to mass-produce troops for Jovian.

While removing the will from Thragg's clones, Dr. Genus also improved Thragg's genes, allowing the clones to possess even greater survivability while also carrying abilities like Heat Vision. The only problem was that these clones were not especially stable. After about a hundred years of service, genetic collapse would set in and they would die.

But Dr. Genus did not care about that. What he needed were stronger, bigger, deadlier weapons of war.

Instead of finding ways to extend the lifespan of those machines, it was easier to just create a fresh batch later to replace the ones that had already died.

"Then let the multiversal invasion begin."

After receiving Dr. Genus's response, Jovian gripped his one remaining set of Infinity Stones and pushed his system to its limit inside his mindscape.

"Supreme world detected: the Marvel Omniverse."

"Supreme world detected: the LEGO Omniverse."

"Supreme world detected: the fanon Cthulhu Mythos version."

"Supreme world detected: the SCP Foundation."

"Supreme world detected: the DC Omniverse."

"Supreme world detected: the fanon Primordial version."

"High-tier world detected: the Transformers Omniverse."

"High-tier world detected: Battle Spirits of the Gale."

"High-tier world detected: Armored Beast."

"High-tier world detected: the Nasuverse."

"High-tier world detected: A Certain Magical Index."

"High-tier world detected: Gurren Lagann."

"High-tier world detected: the Super Seminary Universe." (TN: a 3D sci-fi animated series, originally tied to League of Legends inspired characters, that later evolved into its own separate story)

"Mid-tier world detected: Naruto."

"Mid-tier world detected: One Piece."

"Mid-tier world detected: Bleach."

"Mid-tier world detected…"

"…"

As the Infinity Stones in Jovian's hand shattered and dissolved into countless rays of dawnlike light across the universe, more than a hundred worlds at mid-tier or above, along with countless lower worlds, appeared before him.

"I'm not even looking at the supreme worlds. Every one of those universes has multiple omniversal-level monsters holding the line. If I go there, I'm just a third-rate villain."

Jovian immediately gave up on the supreme worlds he had linked to. Those places were guarded by beings on an omniversal scale. Better not to go there and end up dead without even knowing how it happened.

"Then there are these high-tier worlds. Let me see… what is this? They've even got Battle Spirits of the Gale?"

"Battle Spirits of the Gale, seriously? The power-scaling ceiling for action cartoons?"

Jovian raised a brow at that world. Ye Feng, the Heavenly Emperor Ye, suppressing forbidden zones with a spinning top in hand?!

"The other high-tier worlds are pretty nasty too."

"Oh, this Super Seminary Universe one isn't bad."

After a rough glance, the weakest among the universes that could be called high-tier was probably the Super Seminary Universe. In the other high-tier worlds, there was at least one single-universe-tier powerhouse holding things down. In universes like Battle Spirits of the Gale, which ranked among the stronger high-tier worlds, there were even multiple multiversal-class beings, though by Marvel's standards they still would not count as truly multiversal and would only land around the single-universe tier.

Take Jovian himself as an example. He had the power to destroy a multiverse, but not the power to create one. By Marvel's standards, that still left him at around the single-universe tier, not truly multiversal, only somewhat stronger than some ordinary Celestials.

And in the Super Seminary Universe, Jovian did not recall any single-universe-tier being standing at the top. It seemed like even the strongest, Zilean, was only around observable-universe level, still very far from the single-universe tier.

But there also seemed to be some concept there called Ultimate Fear, which left Jovian uncertain. He had no idea what that fear really was.

"Alright…"

"My main goal is to absorb the mid-tier universes and the lower worlds. As for these high-tier worlds, I can toss a seed into them. How far they get after that depends on their own fate."

Once Jovian made up his mind, he waved a hand, and countless avatars appeared instantly. Every one of them was Jovian, yet Jovian was not any one of them. Each inherited his power. The weakest among them had at least planetary-level combat power, while some of the ones he gave extra attention to had even reached stellar or star-system level. Next came countless Spacetime Gates and soul tunnels. These avatars of Jovian would launch attacks on the endless universes through possession, forced entry, and all kinds of other methods. They had only one purpose, devour universes and save all those trapped in suffering.

What came next would be an ultimate catastrophe destined to sweep across the multiverse.

"So Jovian has finally gone down the path of making avatars. His true body has become too powerful. If his main body enters certain lower worlds, it would burst those universes apart. In order to obtain their power, absorb their matter, and strengthen his own universe…"

"Jovian has stepped onto Darkseid's road. Will he become the dark lord who sweeps across the entire multiverse, or die somewhere along that dark path?"

"I am the Watcher. Just now, I got fired by MCU Universe #22333. As a free Watcher now, I'll be observing some especially interesting worlds from my own perspective. Come along with me…"

"Our first stop is Super Seminary!"

The Watcher with the purple ring floating on his wrist drifted in the air. After being fired by Eternity, he had found a new job, and this Watcher's daily report was a lot more interesting than anything he used to watch before.
