Dr. Genus, dressed in a black suit, sat quietly at his computer. In his hand was a steaming cup of freshly brewed coffee, and a faint smile curled at the corner of his mouth.
"Let me see what you've got~"
His face was full of confidence. He was convinced his subordinates could easily gun down that guy outside in the white spandex. After all, his cyborgs were all Tiger-level or Demon-level—surely even a high-ranking S-Class hero wouldn't be able to defeat them so casually.
And then…
On the screen, he watched a white-clad brute go one punch per person—instantly turning his men into exploding "human fireworks."
"Pff—!"
The coffee Dr. Genus had just brought to his lips sprayed straight out.
"This is…"
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
He leaned in close to the monitor, mouth hanging open.
That was Beast King—his third masterpiece. A monster with the combat power of a high-end Demon-level threat—getting blown apart with one punch.
That didn't make any sense.
"Huh?!"
Right as Dr. Genus stared at the big screen, something truly terrifying happened.
The white-clad man outside—who'd been facing forward—suddenly lifted his head, looked straight into Dr. Genus's nano-scale camera, and flashed a bright, "sunny" smile.
"Oh no. Oh no. Oh no."
The instant their eyes met through that camera, sweat burst across Dr. Genus's forehead, and his heart started pounding like a jackhammer.
"That enemy is way too dangerous!"
"If this keeps going, the entire House of Evolution is going to be destroyed…"
His brows knitted tighter, his gaze sharpening.
"No choice… I can only use that."
With an IQ of 250, his mind ran at full speed. In just a few seconds, his conclusion was clear:
If he wanted to stop the terrifying monster outside, there was only one option—
release his ultimate weapon.
Carnage Kabuto.
"Listen up! Prepare to open Carnage Kabuto's cage! Release him…"
Dr. Genus gripped a microphone and barked into it.
"What?!"
The moment he said it, the researchers in white coats all turned pale with shock—appearing on his screen as they reacted.
And every single one of them had the exact same face as Dr. Genus in black.
"Are you out of your mind?!"
"You want us to release Carnage Kabuto—that monster?!"
"He'll destroy everything! He's a lunatic! His personality is fundamentally broken! We refuse!"
The white-coated Dr. Genus clones shouted at the original, furious and defiant. They absolutely would not allow that psycho to be unleashed.
"Enough!"
"You're just my clones. You don't need opinions."
"Whatever I say, all you need to do is nod and go 'Yeah, yeah, sure.' That's it!"
Dr. Genus snapped into the microphone, issuing orders to the swarm of copycats.
"But—"
The clones were drenched in sweat.
"No 'but.' Remember this: we live together, we die together."
"Following my orders is what you exist for."
Dr. Genus gave the command without an ounce of softness.
"…Understood."
Left with no choice, the clones could only nod.
Deep underground—
Inside countless sealed chambers, harder than steel and diamond, built beyond the limits of modern science, a massive, musclebound rhinoceros beetle-man slept in darkness…
Then, with a rumbling roar, the door to his room slid open.
Bzzzz… bzzzz…
His sensitive organs vibrated. The instant the airflow changed, he knew someone had arrived.
"C-C-Carnage Kabuto…"
A white-coated Dr. Genus clone stared into the endless darkness. He knew a colossal monster lurked inside, and terror flooded his body—but the original's command had to be obeyed.
Boom!
Before the clone could react, a huge hand shot out from the dark.
In the next second, the clone was dragged screaming into the blackness.
"What the hell? You're not the original."
"If you want me to go out, fine—have Genus that bastard come see me in person."
A voice full of contempt drifted from the darkness.
"AAAH—!"
A moment later, the clone's shriek spiraled up the stairwell, echoing through the entire House of Evolution.
"Clone #324 is dead!"
"Carnage Kabuto, you bastard… looks like we need to teach him a lesson!"
When the base learned one of them had been brutally smashed to pieces, the clones clenched their fists—fear mixed with rage twisting across their faces.
"Use tactical weapons. Give him a warning."
They conferred quickly, armed themselves, and advanced step by step toward the dark chamber.
The gear they wore was equipment the original Dr. Genus had developed to prevent test subjects like Carnage Kabuto from going berserk. According to him, if a hundred people wore these suits, they could stand up to a Dragon-level disaster…
And then—
"AAAH!!"
"A monster—!"
The last surviving clone among the hundred-plus trembled as he held a spear crackling with electricity. His face was warped with terror as he stared at Carnage Kabuto.
The original had lied.
Their strength meant nothing in front of him.
"Genus sent you here to die, huh~"
"Hahahahaha…"
"He really knows me."
"He knows every time I wake up, I like a little dessert after the main course~"
The horror in the darkness laughed—and struck the final clone.
Carnage Kabuto casually extended two fingers, pinched the clone by the calf, and started swinging him around like a toy.
He didn't stop until everything except the tiny portion held between those two fingers had been reduced to tomato paste, splattering the entire room.
Only then did he toss the broken remains aside like trash.
"Boring!"
"It's boring!"
"Fuck… I really am just too strong!"
Carnage Kabuto stood there in the gloomy room, scowling in frustration.
Click.
Right as everything started to feel utterly meaningless, the lights snapped on.
Carnage Kabuto's purple, muscle-packed body was revealed in full—
and at the corner of the room stood Dr. Genus in his black suit.
"That's enough, Carnage Kabuto."
"Can you listen to me now? Outside—"
The real Dr. Genus adjusted the sunglasses on the bridge of his nose and spoke coldly.
Boom!
Before he could finish, two massive hands clamped down around him.
Pff—
Blood rose in Dr. Genus's throat under the crushing force.
"Long time no see, Genus," Carnage Kabuto grinned, splitting his mouth wide. "So… how do you want to die?"
