Chapter 297 - Chapter 297: Nick Fury Who Thought Too Much

Maya and Helen Cho's tailing was discovered by Hope and Susan, but it didn't alarm Artoria and Pepper, which was quite surprising. Logically, Artoria should have been able to detect the commotion, but Artoria seemed to not want to pay attention to her surroundings, diminishing her intuition and focusing all her attention on Pepper's belly. That's why she didn't notice these familiar faces, saving Maya and Helen Cho from embarrassment. This matter was thus covered up. Artoria didn't know about Maya and Helen Cho, and Tony didn't know he already had a child.

"Report, Director, caught one, two got away. I'm very sorry."

S.H.I.E.L.D.'s speed was much faster than Artoria's. Hill was a very excellent Special Agent, otherwise, she wouldn't have been chosen by Nick Fury, the one-eyed man, as one of the candidates. After receiving Nick Fury's mission, Hill quickly infiltrated the target's interior with her equipment and easily found the whereabouts of the missing vagrants.

After all, to conduct experiments and raise Symbiotes, this organization made a very large movement. They abducted a large number of vagrants into this place. Although not many vagrants disappeared from each location, the large-scale disappearances occurred in many places. As an excellent Special Agent, Hill found the anomaly in less than half a day. Without much time to report, she directly used secret communication to command S.H.I.E.L.D. Special Agents to conduct a routine inspection of the target, breaking in under the guise of an investigation.

But Hill hadn't expected these guys to be raising such monstrous creatures. A black mass escaped through the ventilation, and a gray mass merged with Carlton Drake, transforming into a towering monster. After devouring three people, it was driven away by their weapons. Hill recovered the only Symbiote still in a container, but the Deaths of the three made her feel that she had failed in her duty. If she had acted more cautiously and investigated more deeply, perhaps no one would have died.

"Special Agent Hill, you did very well. I will make arrangements for those who sacrificed."

Initially, Nick's heart was somewhat blaming Hill for being so incautious, allowing three excellent Special Agents to sacrifice themselves. How much money would that cost? You extravagant girl! But when Nick saw Hill's spoils of war, his eyes instantly narrowed. He recognized this thing and was very familiar with it; there was one in a secret Base, many times larger than this one. But now he wasn't thinking about the one in the ice; this living one was wriggling in a container, looking very 'healthy.' In other words, the Symbiotes had returned to Earth once again. What was their purpose? Was it the large Symbiote in the ice? Nick felt a splitting headache at this moment.

How long has it been? The world had just endured an alien invasion, Hydra's baptism, and the Skrulls' disguised infiltration, and now even Symbiotes were popping out. At this moment, Nick wished he could immediately hand over his position to someone else; he really couldn't take it anymore! This kind of thing had happened twice already; if it happened one more time, he felt like he would be exhausted to Death. Nick didn't know that Artoria's Saturday had coincidentally helped Nick solve Ultron. If even Ultron had appeared, Nick probably would have thrown in the towel long ago. Whoever wants to be this S.H.I.E.L.D. Director, go ahead; Father is not doing it anymore.

"What a troubled time, there hasn't been anything good happening recently."

After comforting Hill, Nick hung up the communication. To be honest, the appearance of the Symbiote was too unexpected. This made Nick understand why even with an excellent senior Special Agent like Hill, three Special Agents still had to sacrifice. Now it seemed they should be grateful for this sacrifice, otherwise, who knew if this long-hungry Symbiote would open its 'bloody maw' and devour everyone present? No one could guarantee that.

"Artoria Stark, yes, her."

After much thought, Nick couldn't help but call Artoria. He was preparing to form a new organization and urgently needed talent. At this point, he didn't care if Maria and Howard would skin him alive afterward, but as long as Artoria agreed, then whatever they said would be too late. Nick, having made up his mind, decided that even if his bald head was smashed tomorrow, he would drag Artoria into this.

"Hello."

Artoria, who was playing with Galacta and Garfield, suddenly received a call from Nick. Very few people knew this number; almost only those who knew Artoria knew it. Since he called, it meant he was an acquaintance. Thinking nothing of it, Artoria answered the phone call from the head of the world's largest dark organization. Artoria greeted him kindly, and after waiting for a long time, unexpectedly, the other party said, "I'm Nick Fury." Hearing this name, Artoria immediately hung up the phone.

"What's wrong, Artoria?"

Galacta, who was stroking Garfield's soft, chubby belly, looked at Artoria curiously. She had heard everything just now. Why did Artoria immediately hang up when she heard that name? This made Galacta very curious, and even Garfield's attention was drawn over. It laboriously lifted its head. Although it had now become a fat, fluffy ball shape, its large cat eyes were still clear, just a little smaller than when it was slender.

"Nothing, just a wrong number."

Facing Galacta and Garfield's pairs of eyes, Artoria lied without changing her expression. Of course, she knew the name Nick Fury. This was the most black-hearted boss in the Marvel Universe; not only did he not pay wages, but he also had no holidays. And even without holidays, there was the risk of being tricked into dangerous missions. Sometimes Artoria actually admired Phil Coulson; he was sent on almost certain-Death missions by Nick Fury multiple times, yet he always survived while everyone who went with him died. Having such a 'mission magnet' in the team almost symbolized total annihilation. Who would dare to join S.H.I.E.L.D. with such a 'mascot'?

"Beep! Beep beep~!"

Nick, holding the phone that kept beeping, fell into thought. What was going on? Since when could his name scare people into hanging up? What exactly happened? What did he do to make Artoria react so strongly to his name?

"Forget it, I'll find Dr. Banner first! I'll send an email later to apologize!"

Things had reached this point, and Nick had nothing left to say. He had no choice but to temporarily put aside the idea of calling Artoria. Nick dialed another number instead; there was no help for it. Nick had no idea how he had offended Artoria, but since things had turned out this way, he could only wait a while and find another way to approach Artoria. He just hoped Maria or Howard wouldn't find out, because then it would be even harder to drag Artoria into this.

"Right, there are still two Symbiotes that escaped. I must find Dr. Pym to deal with this together."

After chatting with Dr. Banner for a short while, the honest and simple-minded Dr. Banner was swindled onto the boat by this black-hearted Nick Fury. Since the Avengers were gone, he would just create another organization. Nick's ability to swindle people was at a professional level. But just as he was about to poach Professor X's people, he suddenly remembered that two Symbiotes had escaped. However, since one Symbiote had remained, Nick prepared to team up with Dr. Pym, who had fought alongside Symbiotes before, to study it together.

"And there's that guy Howard. I hope Artoria doesn't tell on me."

Nick, who was about to call Howard, suddenly stopped. He pondered for a moment; he had just harassed the other man's precious treasure, and he wasn't sure if Artoria had complained yet. If Artoria had indeed complained, wouldn't calling him now be walking straight into the line of fire?

"I'd better wait until Dr. Pym finishes his research before calling Howard! I should also wait and see if Howard calls to hold me accountable."

Sometimes people who overthink are just like that. Artoria was no ordinary girl; why would she complain over such a trivial matter? She had to mentally note this against Nick and make him pay it back slowly later; that was the proper way to take revenge.
