Chapter 290 - Chapter 290: Morgan Returns

Artoria had no intention of getting involved in the remaining matters. She took Gaea and Galacta and went straight home, leaving Steve, Wong, and the Captain to stare at each other in an awkward atmosphere. Eventually, Wong and the Captain began to talk, but none of this had anything to do with the departed Artoria.

"As expected, all of this has been suppressed."

After returning home, Artoria put away excalibur, took a nice bath, and rested, completely ignoring the news online. She knew someone would help cover things up. Although the world knew about the alien (Chitaurri) attack on Earth, the matter of a Demon God trying to tear open the protective shield to devour the Planet was a different story—one was science fiction and the other fantasy. The strength of the former was witnessed by all, and at least humanity wasn't pushed to the point of being unable to resist. But the latter was an existence that brought absolute despair. To be able to devour the Earth... one could only imagine how massive the opponent was. If people knew they were almost swallowed in their sleep without even knowing it, the psychological trauma would be unimaginable.

"It's good to suppress it like this. At least they won't be afraid, right?"

While Artoria was murmuring sentimentally, a familiar yet somewhat strange voice appeared beside her. This caused Artoria to immediately stand up from the sofa, meeting a pair of purple eyes filled with hazy love. For a moment, Artoria thought it was Galacta, but when she looked closer, wasn't this Morgan, who had been missing for a long time? Morgan looked very healthy now, though she seemed somewhat emotional.

"Sorry for scaring you, Artoria."

Morgan no longer had that sickly feeling. She apologized to Artoria gently. When she came over just now and heard Artoria's murmurs, she had instinctively replied, not expecting to startle her. Although Morgan appeared apologetic, she was very happy inside. She loved this way of interacting with her sister. Honestly, she still felt like this was a dream and only hoped she wouldn't wake up too soon.

"It's nothing. Morgan, where have you been for so long?"

Artoria pondered for a moment, feeling that it wasn't someone playing a prank. The Morgan before her was indeed the same Morgan who had stayed in her bed for several days. Artoria breathed a sigh of relief, thinking she had just been too sensitive. Except for a few loyal maids, almost no one here had seen Morgan or knew of her existence. No one should be playing a joke on her about this.

"Since I left that time, I..."

Facing Artoria's inquiry, Morgan sat comfortably beside her and began to tell her story. Aside from hiding her encounter with the Ancient One, Morgan also mentioned her connection with Gaea. She had signed a contract with Gaea; Gaea would lend her power, and Morgan would clear away those who made Gaea uncomfortable. She hadn't expected Gaea to ask her to stay by Artoria's side today, saying she had a very important matter to attend to. Such a huge surprise falling into her lap left Morgan feeling a bit dazed.

"What is Gaea going to do? Did she tell you?"

Just then, Galacta walked over holding half a large watermelon. Artoria asked her. In her impression, the relationship between Galacta and Gaea was quite good. Since Gaea left in such a hurry that she didn't even have time to tell her, she should have told Galacta, right? But hearing Artoria's question, Galacta shook her head blankly. She had no idea what Artoria was talking about. Why would Gaea tell her what she was doing? Artoria's question made Galacta quite depressed. Although her relationship with Gaea wasn't at the "fight on sight" stage anymore, it wasn't particularly harmonious either. Once Artoria wasn't around, Galacta didn't dare talk to Gaea, fearing she might suddenly pull out a pot of "unknown substance" and pour it down her throat—that stuff could kill someone.

"Is this woman the daughter of Galactus? Someone who must be carefully monitored."

The reason Gaea had left Artoria's side so hurriedly was that the dragon egg had cracked and seemed about to hatch. So, she was anxious to look after the child. This period might be very long, so she planned to have Morgan replace her in watching Galacta's every move and protecting Artoria's safety. In her eyes, Galacta was a much bigger threat than any Demon God. Who knew if this little girl's heart would suddenly awaken and she would whisk Artoria away? If that happened, she wouldn't be able to find her even if she wanted to. This girl wasn't someone who could only survive in space.

"What exactly is that woman trying to do?"

The invasion of the Demon God Dormammu had just passed, and yet she was leisurely playing missing. Artoria really didn't know how this Planetary consciousness lived so happily. Even if she didn't have to spend every day in tension, there should at least be some atmosphere of urgency. But she refused. Artoria shook her head helplessly. Everyone was working hard to protect the Earth, but the Earth itself didn't seem to care, making their efforts feel quite awkward.

"Forget it, ignore her.""}],

After thinking it over, Artoria decided not to worry about Gaea's business. How could she stay angry at such a long-time friend over something like this? She was simply worried for her. Artoria took Morgan's hand and began to chat. She felt a deep-seated love and closeness toward this'sister' from the depths of her soul. For some reason, seeing Morgan made Artoria very happy and put her in a pleasant mood; this might have something to do with King Arthur's Spirit Foundation. Even if a legitimate wife is peerlessly beautiful, the wild flowers blooming outside are still so temptingly fragrant.

"Whoa! What is this thing? It's all black."

Compared to Artoria's comfortable life, Wade, who lived with a blind old landlady, woke up to find himself surrounded by a black mass. Furthermore, the thing rapidly entered his body, leaving Wade feeling a mix of disgust and curiosity. He then pulled out the sword Artoria had gifted him, preparing to slice into his stomach. But after looking at the bedsheets and blankets, he whistled and walked into the bathroom instead. The sound of splashing water came from the bathroom, seemingly mixed with the growls of a Beast.

"Give me a Brazilian girl."

After an unknown number of stabs, the black thing finally couldn't take it anymore. For the first time, it felt a sense of depression. What kind of thing had it just tried to symbiose with? It had never seen such a fellow who didn't even value his own life. Finally unable to bear it, the Symbiote detached itself from Deadpool. Although the time was short, it had already copied many things from this host. A mass of black, viscous liquid Symbiote instantly ejected from Deadpool's body, quickly entering the sewer to escape from his side. Watching the Symbiote flee in panic, Deadpool shook his blood-splattered body, which was already regenerating, and shouted.

"Tsk, oh! NO, I still have to clean this up, that damn black egg-ball."

After the Symbiote left, Deadpool looked at the red-covered walls with some helplessness and turned on the faucet. If he didn't clean this up, it could easily pass for a murder scene. He had been tracking two targets for so long according to the instructions from his beautiful boss; one ran away, and the other's trail was nowhere to be found. Feeling like his luck was down, Wade planned to take a break. Even a mercenary is human! He needed to rest, then find a nightclub for a couple of drinks, and then go for a... cough cough! Not suitable for children.

"Wade, you bastard, remember to pay back the money you owe me. There's a lead on the guy you're looking for."

"I'll be right there, my dear Mr. Weasel."

Just as Deadpool finished cleaning and was about to take a nap, his phone suddenly rang. It was the black-market information broker he often frequented, codenamed 'Weasel.' Upon hearing the news, Wade excitedly hung up, immediately put on his red skin-tight suit, grabbed his weapons, and headed out.

"Don't forget to pay the rent, kid."

As he left, the landlady gave Wade a 'kind' greeting—a bullet to see him off—reminding the tenant it was time to pay rent. Although she was blind and couldn't hit anyone, she liked guns.
