Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: Little Kitten

"Dr. Banner, welcome to the team. The Avengers will definitely help you solve your problems."

"Okay, thank you."

Banner said with a mournful face. There was no other way; there was a monster inside him that constantly fought for control of his body. If possible, he really wanted to commit suicide, but whenever he tried, the monster inside would emerge and ruin everything around him. Even his girlfriend had suffered considerable harm because of this. If what this so-called Director of some bureau said was true, then he might actually be able to live free from that green monster. He hoped everything wouldn't be so bad and that this Director was telling the truth.

"We'll handle all matters with the Military for you. Don't worry about them suddenly appearing to capture you."

Nick said with a smile. General Ross had completely fallen into his hands this time. The Military court had charged him with over two hundred various crimes, big and small, crushing any chance of a comeback. The total sentence added up to a thousand years. General Ross would never walk out of prison in this lifetime unless he turned to dust.

"Rest well! We'll provide you with a laboratory and security, Dr. Banner."

"Oh! Okay."

Watching Dr. Banner sign the document, Nick very satisfiedly collected it, patted Banner on the shoulder, and left with his assistant Hill, leaving Special Agent Phil to handle the remaining matters.

"Hill, I'll leave the rest to you. I need to go bid farewell to an old friend."

"Yes, Director."

After getting into the car, Nick handed a folder to Hill, instructing her on what needed to be prepared and who needed to be contacted. Then he drove off. Peggy's funeral was today, and especially after hearing Sharon's words, he knew Artoria would definitely come. This was Nick's first formal contact with Artoria. Although he had seen photos of her when she was little, so many years had passed. The little Angel back then had become a goddess. It really made one sigh at how fast time flies. He wondered how that Captain was doing, whether he had helped those guys find a suitable home.

"What a coincidence. Dr. Banner actually came to us on his own. Although his condition isn't great, it's still much better than that playboy. Oh, and I still need to sort out this problem child's work. Such a headache."

Switching to autopilot mode, Nick thought about what happened yesterday afternoon. He never expected that Banner, who had been seeking death, would come to S.H.I.E.L.D. hoping to be killed. It seemed his emotions had collapsed. But with such powerful strength, how could Nick give up? He comforted Banner and did a lot of work on him. From yesterday until just now, when it was almost time for the funeral, he hadn't closed his eyes, finally handing things over to Special Agent Phil.

Closing his eyes to take a short nap, but remembering Tony's arrogant face, his head started to ache again. This really made it hard to have a peaceful dream.

"Destination reached."

"So fast? I haven't even had a proper nap."

Just as he pushed this headache-inducing matter to the back of his mind, Nick heard the car's system prompt. Damn, usually this car doesn't seem that fast. Why is it so quick today?

"So cute! This Little guy."

Dressed in a black formal suit, Artoria stood in front of Sharon, with Natasha behind her in similar attire. The two had arrived much earlier than Nick, waiting for the funeral to start. Originally, Artoria had thought about looking around, but a small figure quickly ran out. Artoria's instincts told her there was no danger, so she didn't move. However, she felt a soft, furry sensation on her leg. Looking down, her bust blocked her full view, so she could only squat down and tilt her body to see what it was. The cute orange figure made Artoria freeze.

But Natasha didn't notice Artoria's abnormality. She happily picked up the orange little kitten, nuzzling it and speaking. However, the cat didn't seem to like her much. Its little eyes kept staring at Artoria, as if saying,'Servant, why haven't you rescued your King from this woman's hands?'

For some reason, Artoria could interpret the Little guy's consciousness, but she had no intention of taking action.

"Hello, Captain."

At this moment, the Captain had also arrived. Sharon received him and led him into the church. All the ceremonies were to begin inside the church.

"This cat... why does it feel so abnormal?"

Artoria watched the pitiful appearance of the little kitten being tormented by Natasha, but she just felt that this Little guy wasn't simple. For some reason, her intuition told her there was no danger, yet she still felt something was off.

"Forget it, I'll handle it!"

Just looking wouldn't help. Artoria took the little kitten from Natasha's hands, ignoring Natasha's resentful gaze. She gave it a quick check and found it seemed no different from other cats, which puzzled Artoria. But she felt reassured and held the Little guy in her arms. Hmm! Placed right between her breasts, with only a little head peeking out.
