Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 : Weaving of Techniques

With the armor sorted out, next came the weapon.

After thinking it over, Noah still believed he should aim for a support role.

The reason was simple: even if someone's combat skills reached insane heights, they still had limits.

This was obvious just by looking at the Falna.

Even the gods weren't truly all-powerful, which was exactly why they often made fun of themselves, calling themselves "all-knowing but useless."

Divine power didn't work against the Dungeon.

Not even a god's strength could beat it.

That was why Familias were needed in the first place.

Looking at the history of this world—whether in the Age of Darkness, the Age of Heroes, or the Age of Gods—people who fought alone always hit a wall pretty fast.

The first hero, Argonauts.

The last hero, Albert.

Even those heroes, who were crazy strong without even having a Falna, eventually fell.

A single person's strength had limits.

Whether they were swordsmen or mages, not even the Level 9 Empress nor the Level 8 captain of the Zeus Familia could stop the cruel outcome of their Familia's destruction.

So, why not boost all his companions to a whole new level?

If he could buff every member of the Zeus and Hera Familias to Level 10 by himself, even the Black Dragon would get completely crushed.

If the world fell into despair and he was the only guy left standing, Noah honestly couldn't guarantee he'd have the guts to keep fighting.

That was why he couldn't be a hero.

But he could pick up his beaten comrades and let them jump the enemy together! Aiming for that exact scenario, he would become the true carry.

So, Noah made his choice.

But the problem went back to his choice of gear.

For a normal support role, people usually leaned toward magic, so their go-to weapon would naturally be a wand.

But he was different.

The Spell-Weaver could pull off a lot of crazy things, but it wasn't actual magic.

The boost a wand gave to spells was useless for him and besides, who said a support couldn't rush in and fight?

Hiding in the back was for soft supports—he planned to mix both soft and hard support!

More importantly, he needed to figure out how he would actually apply his "support" to his party members.

Since the Spell-Weaver's range was only a little over three meters right now, giving instant support during a fast-paced fight was impossible.

Chasing after someone just to heal them was way less efficient than just chugging potions.

Once past that three-meter range, the Spell-Weaver's control over mana and elements got unstable.

Unless he set it up beforehand, just like the magical chants inside the Crimson Guardian.

It was basically like programming locking the woven spells in...

Thinking about this made Noah's heart race.

'Pre-setting the spells? Hell yeah!'

He just needed to prep them in advance.

Noah pulled open a drawer and grabbed a small recovery potion.

This potion would instantly heal the drinker's injuries while slowly giving back a bit of stamina.

Then, he picked up a scrap piece of ore—just a small stone fragment.

After hesitating for a second, he coated it with ink made from boiled dragon liver powder.

He crushed the recovery potion.

The liquid from the broken crystal vial didn't spill.

Instead, it slowly broke down into faint green particles of light that swirled around his hand.

Reshaping and arranging those light particles, Noah used the elements inside the recovery potion to build a string of magical incantations.

That was the chant for the pretty basic healing spell, "Recovery."

This was exactly why the Spell-Weaver's ability was so broken—as long as he knew the chant, he could weave even Nine Hell's 'Laevateinn'.

Although, doing that would be just as hard as building the Demon lord castle with his bare hands.

Either way, it was completely impossible for a Level 2.

Maybe he would get a chance to try it out in the future.

"This alone isn't enough. I still need a teleportation spell, setting the trigger to activate right when it hits an object, teleporting the spell directly to that target..."

'Bling...!'

The small stone shimmered and turned into a smooth, silver material.

On the surface of the stone, a blue rune gave off a faint glow.

'Was it done? No.... i need to test it out!'

Noah pushed the door open and walked out, looking for a test subject.

Why not test it on himself? Because he really didn't want to stab himself!

Just then, Noah spotted a familiar face.

"Tsubaki?"

Judging by her depressed look and the direction she was walking from, Hephaestus must have just scolded her.

Her hair was singed.

'So, a fire-attribute magic sword blew up on her, huh? Perfect!'

"Huh? Noah-chan, heyy—Eh? Ehhhhhh???"

Noah answered Tsubaki's bright, cheerful greeting by throwing the stone at her with full force.

It was fine—no matter what this thing hit, it wouldn't actually hurt.

Because the friction coefficient and the directional force were both set to zero.

Seeing Noah throw a stone right at her, Tsubaki looked completely shocked and didn't even try to dodge.

Because of that, the stone smacked squarely right against the dwarf woman's forehead.

Plop.

A green light suddenly bloomed.

Tsubaki just stared blankly as her body was wrapped in the green glow, totally shocked to see that her injuries from the magic sword explosion were starting to heal!

"What is this?"

Just a second ago, Tsubaki had been feeling depressed about getting pelted with rocks by a kid, but now her eyes were glued to the small stone at her feet.

Then, a hand reached down and picked it up.

It was Noah.

He stood in front of Tsubaki, carefully looking her over—though in reality, he was just checking the spell's effects.

Then, he pumped his fist.

"Success!"

By sealing the woven spell into a projectile, he could shoot the spell at a target from far away!

With this figured out, one specific weapon suddenly seemed perfect for the job.

A launcher... In other words, a gun.

The only difference was that the kinetic energy didn't come from gunpowder this time, and the main goal wasn't to hurt the enemy.

You could say it was something both similar to, but also totally different from modern guns.

From the perspective of people in this world, it wasn't a weapon or a wand—it was entirely what you'd call a magical tool!

"Thank you, Tsubaki. You've been a huge help," Noah said.

Tsubaki just stared at him.

"????"

In that moment, the one-eyed master smith was completely confused.

"You seem to have cooked up something interesting again. Seriously, do monsters like you even know what a bottleneck is?" Tsubaki sighed in defeat.

Even though she might not look like it right now, she used to be called a genius herself.

If she wasn't a genius, how else could she have become Orario's top blacksmith on hard work alone?

This city was never short of geniuses and monsters that even the gods would drop their jaws at.

And as his senpai..

She had absolutely zero intention of admitting how she'd been provoked by the young man standing right in front of her, recklessly tried to forge a magic sword, failed, and ended up blowing herself up in the explosion!
