Chapter 305 - Chapter 304: Toying with Vermouth

The black Porsche slowly drove into a hidden private garage. After passing several strict electronic identity verifications, it finally stopped inside one of the Black Organization's core strongholds in Tokyo. It wasn't as gloomy as in the movies; instead, it looked more like a modern high-tech corporate center, though the air was filled with an invisible sense of oppression and coldness.

The car doors opened, and Gin and Vodka were the first to step out, both of their expressions very tense. When Kanjuro stepped out composedly, followed by Akemi Miyano leading the still-cowering Ai Haibara (Shiho Miyano), several low-level members who had been walking nearby or talking in low voices instantly froze as if a freezing spell had been cast on them.

Their eyes swept back and forth in disbelief between Gin, Vodka, and the Miyano sisters behind them, finally settling on the unfamiliar young man who was excessively handsome yet radiated a heart-palpitating aura. Whispers began to spread rapidly like a tide.

"Is that... Akemi Miyano?! Wasn't she already..."

"And that little girl... brownish hair... could it be Sherry?!"

"How could Lord Gin and Lord Vodka bring them back? Who is that man?"

Just then, a voice filled with a bit of flippancy and playfulness broke the eerie silence:

"Oh? This is quite rare, Gin."

Not far away, a handsome man with dark skin and pale blonde hair leaned against the corridor wall with his hands in his pockets, a smile on his face that seemed lazy but was actually sharp—it was Bourbon, who was also the Japanese Public Security undercover agent, Furuya Rei.

His gaze first swept over Akemi Miyano with interest, finally stopping on Ai Haibara, who was trying to minimize her presence. His tone carried precise mockery:

"To actually bring back this 'dead' traitor and this little girl... let me guess, this should be the Organization's famous 'escaped scientist,' Sherry, right? What an... unexpected development."

Gin gave Bourbon a cold sweep, his dark green pupils devoid of any warmth. He didn't bother to respond to such posturing probes, simply stepping aside. This further emphasized Kanjuro's presence behind him, revealing a stance of following Kanjuro's lead that even Gin himself hadn't realized.

Bourbon was incredibly sharp. He immediately noticed Gin's subtle movement, as well as the suppressed tension Gin and Vodka showed when facing the strange youth—a tension unlike their usual arrogance. His gaze finally officially landed on Kanjuro.

With just that one look, the cynical smile on Bourbon's face instantly froze!

His purple-gray eyes snapped shut for a moment, and a hint of undisguised horror flashed deep in his pupils! As a Public Security elite who had infiltrated the Organization for years, he had seen countless vicious criminals and felt the pure killing intent from Gin. But the youth before him was different... He looked too young, too handsome, almost like a high school student. However, just by standing there casually, he radiated an invisible and massive sense of pressure—a majesty that transcended killing intent and seemed to stem from the level of life itself, making one's soul tremble! Even Gin and Vodka by his side looked like... attendants?

Bourbon's heart began to beat uncontrollably fast. Who was he?! To be treated like this by Gin and Vodka, and to have the Miyano sisters appear "unharmed" in the heart of the Organization... This man's identity and power must be terrifying beyond imagination!

The flippancy on Bourbon's face completely vanished, replaced by extreme solemnity and vigilance. He stared intently at Kanjuro, trying to see something from that calm face, but those deep eyes were like a black hole, swallowing all prying light.

Kanjuro naturally felt Bourbon's piercing gaze. He gave Bourbon a faint glance, his eyes calm and waveless as if he were looking at an inconsequential piece of furniture, before withdrawing his gaze. This total disregard actually caused a chill to run up Bourbon's spine.

"Let's go," Kanjuro said to Gin, his tone flat, yet naturally becoming the core of the command.

Gin gave a low grunt of affirmation and led the way, with Vodka following closely behind. Kanjuro stepped forward, and Akemi Miyano followed tightly. Ai Haibara, her head lowered, gripped her sister's hem with her small hand like a startled bird. Under the gaze of countless eyes—some shocked, some confused, some greedy (directed at Sherry), and some fearful (stemming from Kanjuro)—she followed Kanjuro step by step into this tiger's den.

Bourbon stood rooted to the spot, watching their departing figures with a furrowed brow and a face more solemn than ever before. He realized that the organization's landscape would likely undergo an earth-shattering upheaval because of this mysterious young man's appearance. And he had to uncover this "Kanjuro's" background as quickly as possible. Gin led Kanjuro's group through several cool-toned corridors, finally finding Vermouth in an elegantly decorated private lounge, where she was lazily leaning back on a sofa amidst a faint scent of perfume. She swirled a wine glass in her hand, her long golden hair as dazzling as sunlight, and her every movement was filled with the charm and mystery of a mature woman.

When her gaze swept over the doorway and she saw clearly who had arrived, that perfect smile instantly froze on her face. She jerked upright, her sharp gaze landing first in disbelief on Akemi Miyano and Ai Haibara, who was clinging to her. Her voice carried a hint of undisguisable shock:

"Gin? What is the meaning of this? It's one thing to bring back these two... 'troubles,'" her gaze shifted to Kanjuro, filled with scrutiny and wariness, "but who is this unfamiliar handsome gentleman? I don't recall such a person being in the organization."

Clearly, Vermouth did not know Kanjuro, but his otherworldly handsomeness and the indescribable aura surrounding him caused a flicker of attraction to involuntarily cross her eyes despite her wariness.

Gin spoke with a cold, expressionless face, stating his purpose directly: "He is Kanjuro. A 'top talent' that the organization might... need in the future." This introduction was vague and subtle, both elevating Kanjuro and attempting to maintain a shred of the organization's dignity in front of Vermouth. "Now, I need your help to hand over all the internal files regarding Miyano Elena and Koji Miyano from back then."

"Miyano Elena?" Vermouth's slender eyebrows arched, her confusion and bewilderment deepening. "Why the sudden request for their files? Gin, this goes against the rules, and..."

Before she could finish her sentence, a sudden change occurred!

Kanjuro, who had been standing quietly to the side, seemed to casually raise a hand. His movement was as fast as a phantom; no one even saw how he moved before the Beretta that Gin always kept by his side was already in his hand!

In the next second, the cold muzzle was precisely and gently pressed against Vermouth's smooth forehead.

The entire process was silent and seamless, yet it carried a terrifying pressure that made one's scalp tingle!

The composure on Vermouth's face vanished instantly. Her purple pupils contracted in horror, her body stiffened, and even her breathing stalled for a moment. She could clearly feel the cold touch of the metal barrel and the steady, tremorless hand of the person holding the gun.

Gin and Vodka's expressions also changed drastically, but they didn't dare make any move.

Kanjuro leaned in slightly, bringing his face close to Vermouth's startled, beautiful face. There was even a faint, charming smile on his lips, but those deep eyes held no mirth, only a cold indifference that viewed life as nothing more than weeds.

His voice was low and pleasant, like a lover's whisper, yet the words he spoke made one feel as if they had fallen into an ice cellar:

"If you're told to do it, do it."

"Or rather..."

His tone carried a hint of playful cruelty as the muzzle tapped gently against Vermouth's forehead.

"Do you want to try the taste of being 'toyed with' by me?"

The words "toyed with" coming from his mouth were filled with an unspeakable darkness. It wasn't just literal; it held the terror of having one's mind, body, and even soul completely dominated and devastated.

A layer of cold sweat instantly broke out on Vermouth's back. She had experienced countless storms and faced various dangers, but never had she felt a shiver from the depths of her soul like this! This man... was too dangerous! His power and his utter lack of restraint far exceeded her understanding. Her intuition screamed at her that defying him would lead to a fate far worse than death!

She forcibly suppressed the turmoil in her heart, her amethyst-like eyes staring intently at the close-range Kanjuro, trying to find a flaw or hesitation in his eyes, but she saw only a bottomless darkness.

After a brief, suffocating silence, Vermouth took a deep breath and tried to keep her voice steady:

"...I understand."

She slowly raised her hands in a gesture of compromise. "The files are in my encrypted database. They require my authorization and iris verification."

"Please... move the gun away. I'll take you there."

Kanjuro smiled slightly, as if the threat just now had never happened. He elegantly withdrew the gun and tossed it back to the grim-faced Gin, as if it were merely an insignificant toy.

"Lead the way," he said calmly, his tone matter-of-fact.

Vermouth gave Kanjuro a long look, her eyes incredibly complex—a mix of lingering fear, a hint of offended anger, and... an indescribable throb of attraction toward an absolute powerhouse? She stood up, straightened her slightly disheveled collar, and regained some of her usual poise, though the wariness and shock deep in her eyes could not be completely hidden.

She walked ahead to lead the way, with Kanjuro and the others following closely behind.

Ai Haibara watched this scene, her small hands clenched tight. Even a woman like Vermouth was so vulnerable before Kanjuro... This man who claimed to be her father—how far did his shadow reach? And the truth about her mother's files seemed about to be forcibly unveiled under this violent coercion. Vermouth led Kanjuro's group through multiple security gates requiring verification, finally entering a core archive room filled with the mixed scent of old paper and electronic equipment. Massive metal filing cabinets were lined up neatly, and the glow of blue computer screens reflected on everyone's varied expressions.

The door closed slowly behind them, isolating them from the outside world. The archive room was so quiet that one could hear breathing.

Vermouth finally couldn't take it anymore. She stopped, turned abruptly, and stared sharply at the cold-faced Gin with purple eyes, her voice suppressed with anger and disbelief:

"Gin! Can you talk now? Who exactly is he?!" Her gaze harshly swept over the leisurely Kanjuro. "What on earth are you trying to do, bringing him and these two traitors here?! Do you have any idea what this means?"

Facing Vermouth's questioning, Gin showed no guilt or tension. Instead, a cold, almost mocking smile appeared on his face. He met Vermouth's piercing gaze and said clearly, word by word:

"Vermouth, you're quite poorly informed."

He paused, deliberately emphasizing his tone,

"The man who left the entire Japanese police force helpless and even forced them to bow in surrender—Kanjuro. Haven't you heard of that name?"

"Wh...?!" The color instantly drained from Vermouth's face. Her pupils dilated in extreme shock, and her body even swayed slightly. That rumor... the one that had been deliberately suppressed by the higher-ups but still circulated in small circles among the elite, about a man who descended like a demon god and crushed the state machinery with absolute power... was it actually true?! And he was standing right in front of her!

The massive impact left her speechless for a moment, but it was followed by deeper anger and a chill of betrayal. She pointed a finger at Gin, her voice sharp with agitation:

"Gin! You... you actually led him into the core of the organization?! This is betraying the organization! Do you know the consequences of doing this?!"

"Betrayal?" Gin let out a cold laugh as if he had heard something ridiculous, the sound echoing harshly in the hollow archive room. He glanced at Kanjuro, who was looking at the filing cabinets with interest as if none of this concerned him, and then looked back at Vermouth, his eyes holding a cruel calm after accepting reality:

"I am merely submitting to the strong, Vermouth."

"The organization's rules are meaningless in the face of absolute power."

"Face reality. Now, here," he shifted slightly, his posture clearly indicating his stance, "Mr. Kanjuro is the one who needs to be 'obeyed.'"

These words were like a final ultimatum, drawing a clear line. Gin, one of the organization's top assassins, had publicly declared the shift of his loyalty.

Vodka stood to the side with his head lowered, remaining silent, but his tense body language showed he stood entirely with Gin.

Akemi Miyano tightly held her sister's hand, her feelings complex as she witnessed this rift between core members of the organization, but mostly she felt awe for Kanjuro's power.

As for Ai Haibara, she felt a sense of vertigo under the massive impact of information. Gin's defection and Vermouth's shocked loss of composure were like a demonstration to her of how Kanjuro's shadow was eroding this massive organization she once feared so much with an unstoppable force.

Vermouth's face was pale. She looked at Gin, then at Kanjuro, and finally swept her gaze over everyone's varied expressions, her heart sinking to the bottom. She understood that Gin wasn't joking; he was serious. And when the organization's "loyal dog" chose betrayal, then the organization's foundation had truly begun to crumble.

Kanjuro seemed to have had enough of watching this "internal strife" drama. He finally moved his gaze from the filing cabinets to the grim-faced Vermouth, a cold arc curling at the corner of his mouth:

"Small talk time is over, Miss Vermouth."

He stepped forward slowly, an invisible pressure enveloping her,

"Now, can we get down to business?"

"Bring up all the files regarding Elena..."

His tone was flat, yet it carried the weight of a final ultimatum that brooked no refusal.

Under Kanjuro's gaze, Vermouth found it difficult even to breathe. She bit her full lower lip, struggling inwardly for a moment. Finally, in the face of the absolute power gap and the cruel reality before her, she closed her eyes dejectedly. When she opened them again, only the gloom of compromise remained.

"...Follow me." She turned around, her voice carrying an imperceptible tremor as she walked toward the terminals deep in the archive room that stored the organization's most core secret data.

The organization's barriers were being forcibly pried open layer by layer before Kanjuro.
