ASTRA: GAZERS OF THE FALLEN SKY

Chapter 21 — Those Who Refuse to Kneel

The second silhouette did not descend violently.

It displaced.

Where Vael'thorin was symmetrical and precise, the second presence was dense — heavier in existence. Its arrival bent the horizon subtly, like the planet itself acknowledged something older than gravity.

Clouds flattened in concentric rings.

Satellites malfunctioned globally.

Across the world, sensitive beings froze.

In Brazil, a Rank 1 Angel mid-battle stopped moving entirely.

In Germany, another Great Angel looked upward and muttered quietly:

"…They escalated."

In Russia, Seraphiel felt it like a blade pressed to the spine.

Arthur's voice sharpened within her mind.

Second Ruler confirmed.

She didn't wait.

She launched.

Snow exploded beneath her as she shot toward the upper atmosphere.

---

Australia — Sky Above the Pacific

Kazuo hovered midair, artificial Core flickering erratically within his chest.

Vael'thorin remained steady opposite him.

Between them—

Space rippled.

The second Ruler emerged fully.

Unlike Vael'thorin's structured symmetry, this one was broader — its wings resembling layered shields rather than architecture. Its body radiated gravitational density. Not light.

Mass.

Its voice arrived first.

"Designation: Kael'varis."

Alan, watching from fractured shoreline through broken military optics, whispered:

"…They introduce themselves like conference speakers."

No one laughed.

Kael'varis looked at Kazuo.

Not judging.

Assessing.

"Arbiter deviation confirmed."

Kazuo exhaled slowly.

"You brought backup."

Vael'thorin answered calmly.

"Deviation exceeded projected threshold."

Kazuo tilted his head slightly.

"That's flattering."

Kael'varis' presence alone caused the ocean to depress further, forming a massive concave basin beneath them.

Alan staggered backward as pressure intensified again.

"…Two of them."

Kazuo didn't respond.

His artificial Core cracked faintly.

Hairline fractures spreading like spiderwebs across its dark surface.

He felt it.

Another prolonged clash would shatter it.

---

Russia — Upper Atmosphere

Seraphiel pierced cloud layers, ascending rapidly.

Arthur's voice echoed within her.

You cannot defeat a Ruler.

"I know."

Then why ascend?

She did not answer immediately.

Wind screamed around her as she crossed into thin air.

"Because he won't step back."

Pause.

"And someone has to."

Arthur understood.

That was the problem.

---

Australia — Confrontation

Kael'varis extended one hand.

The sky dimmed further.

"Arbiter Kazuo. Your refusal endangers systemic equilibrium."

Kazuo rolled his neck once.

"I've heard that line before."

"Reintegration is final offer."

Kazuo glanced at Vael'thorin.

"Is that your script too?"

Vael'thorin did not respond.

Kael'varis' voice lowered slightly.

"Artificial Core instability detected. You will collapse."

Kazuo shrugged faintly.

"Probably."

Alan stared upward in disbelief.

"He keeps saying that."

Kael'varis continued.

"Collapse will result in planetary fracture due to uncontrolled Arbiter residue."

That made Kazuo pause.

Just slightly.

Alan noticed.

"…Residue?"

Vael'thorin clarified.

"Incomplete Core detonation will destabilize planetary mantle."

Kazuo looked down briefly at the ocean beneath him.

"…You're saying if I break, Earth breaks."

"Yes."

Silence.

The artificial Core pulsed weakly.

Kazuo exhaled slowly.

"…That's inconvenient."

Alan shouted upward:

"Stop calling extinction inconvenient!"

Kazuo glanced down.

"It is."

Alan covered his face with one hand.

---

Orbital Perimeter — Seraphiel Arrives

Seraphiel breached near-orbit.

The Gate loomed massive above Earth now, partially stabilized.

Energy flowed between it and the descending Rulers.

Arthur's voice tightened.

You cannot interfere directly.

"I'm not planning to."

She extended her senses outward.

Rank 1 Angels across the globe had paused operations.

Even Great Angels hesitated.

The Rulers' presence superseded all hierarchies.

She made a decision.

She broadcast.

Not vocally.

Divinely.

A command pulse across the Angelic network.

Stand down.

Across continents, Angels froze.

Confusion rippled through their ranks.

Amornachi felt it immediately.

She looked toward orbit.

"…You dare."

Seraphiel's voice carried calmly through divine channels:

This conflict exceeds Angelic authority. Withdraw.

Some Rank 1 obeyed instantly.

Others hesitated.

Amornachi did not.

"You would side with a Deviant Arbiter?" she transmitted.

Seraphiel's reply was steady.

I side with my master.

---

Australia — Escalation Point

Kael'varis stepped forward.

The ocean floor cracked audibly again.

"Collective correction authorized."

Kazuo narrowed his eyes.

"Both of you at once?"

Vael'thorin's wings expanded.

"Yes."

Alan whispered:

"…He's going to die."

Kazuo glanced back down at him.

"…Possibly."

Alan snapped.

"Stop saying that like it's weather!"

Kazuo almost smiled again.

Almost.

Then both Rulers moved.

Not quickly.

Inevitably.

Reality folded around Kazuo from two opposing vectors.

One compressive.

One gravitational.

His artificial Core flared violently.

Cracks spread faster now.

He blocked Vael'thorin's construct strike with his blade—

But Kael'varis' gravitational field hit simultaneously.

Kazuo's body twisted unnaturally midair.

Bones cracked.

Blood sprayed across open sky.

Alan screamed his name.

Kazuo dropped several hundred meters before stabilizing.

The artificial Core dimmed further.

Vael'thorin spoke.

"Your resistance damages non-target assets."

Kazuo coughed.

"…I noticed."

Kael'varis raised a hand again.

Gravity spiked.

Mountains in New Zealand fractured from tectonic backlash.

Across the world, seismographs went insane.

Arthur's voice echoed urgently in Seraphiel's mind.

If he continues, the planet will not survive the correction field.

Seraphiel made her choice.

---

Sky — Reinforcement

A streak of gold pierced through the atmosphere.

Vael'thorin reacted instantly.

Seraphiel entered between Kazuo and Kael'varis, wings fully extended.

Her human vessel strained under 9% output.

But she stood.

Kael'varis regarded her calmly.

"Former Great Angel."

Seraphiel did not bow.

"Current General."

Kazuo stared at her.

"…Why are you here."

She didn't look at him.

"You're unstable."

"That was obvious."

"You are not fighting alone."

Kael'varis spoke again.

"Angel interference irrelevant."

Seraphiel's eyes sharpened.

"Test that."

Her aura flared violently.

Not enough to threaten a Ruler.

But enough to distort the correction field slightly.

Kazuo felt the pressure ease marginally.

Vael'thorin adjusted wings.

"You oppose your origin."

Seraphiel's voice remained calm.

"I choose my allegiance."

Alan stared upward from below.

"…She's insane."

Kazuo glanced sideways at her.

"You will break."

She smirked faintly.

"I usually do."

Even now.

Humor.

Thin, but real.

Kael'varis extended both hands again.

This time targeting Seraphiel directly.

Gravity compressed around her.

Her bones groaned.

Blood ran from her nose.

Kazuo reacted instantly.

He moved between her and Kael'varis, taking the gravitational spike directly.

The artificial Core screamed.

Cracks spread violently.

Seraphiel grabbed his arm.

"Don't."

"I'm already committed," he muttered.

Vael'thorin raised a final construct spear.

"Deviation termination authorized."

Alan's voice cracked through broken comm channels:

"Kazuo!"

The artificial Core flickered.

Dim.

Unstable.

Moments from catastrophic rupture.

Seraphiel realized it.

If it detonated—

The planet would fracture.

She made a second decision.

"Arthur."

Silence inside her mind.

Then:

You are certain?

"Yes."

Your vessel will not withstand it.

"I know."

Arthur exhaled slowly within her consciousness.

Then we align.

Her aura shifted.

No longer 9%.

Not stable 10%.

Something else.

Synchronization.

Her body began cracking under strain.

Kazuo felt it.

"…What are you doing."

She looked at him finally.

And smiled softly.

"Borrowing."

Her hand moved to his chest.

Direct contact with the artificial Core.

Kazuo's eyes widened slightly.

"That's not—"

Too late.

Arthur's divine essence flowed through her into the unstable Core.

Not to strengthen it.

To stabilize its detonation vector.

Containment.

If it ruptured—

It would rupture upward.

Not downward.

Away from Earth.

Kazuo understood instantly.

"…You're redirecting the blast."

She coughed blood.

"Yes."

Vael'thorin and Kael'varis both paused.

"Unauthorized third-party synchronization detected."

Kazuo's voice lowered.

"You really don't like improvisation."

The artificial Core stabilized slightly.

Not repaired.

But controlled.

Seraphiel trembled violently.

Arthur's voice echoed faintly within her.

This buys minutes. Not victory.

Kazuo nodded faintly.

"Minutes are enough."

He looked up at both Rulers.

"You want correction?"

The artificial Core flared one last time — no longer flickering randomly.

Now focused.

"Then let's escalate properly."

For the first time—

Vael'thorin and Kael'varis both expanded their wings fully.

The Gate above pulsed violently in response.

Alan whispered in awe and terror:

"…This is no longer a fight."

He was right.

It wasn't.

It was a declaration.
