Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: This Time, He Envied Tang San’s Father

"Blue Silver Grass… Pear Blossom… both born with full soul power…"

Old Jack sighed unwillingly. "Master, is there really no way to cultivate them?"

Su Yuntao shook his head.

"It's not that they can't cultivate at all. But tell me—what can Blue Silver Grass or Pear Blossom possibly evolve into? A useless martial soul is still a useless martial soul."

He glanced regretfully at Ye Feng and Tang San, who had already stepped outside.

"What a pity. Two children with innate soul power… yet such ordinary spirits."

With that, he turned and left to awaken martial souls in the next village.

Outside the Spirit Hall.

"Grandpa Jack, what exactly is a soul ring? How do you obtain one?" Tang San asked curiously.

Old Jack scratched his head.

"I'm not too sure. I've heard that to obtain a soul ring, you must hunt spirit beasts. That's something only a true Soul Master can do."

He paused, then looked at Tang San carefully.

"Xiao San… you're the child the master mentioned, the one born with innate full soul power, right?"

Tang San nodded slightly.

Old Jack's eyes brightened.

"Good boy. These matters should be discussed with your father. Come, I'll take you home."

As he spoke, he stroked Tang San's head affectionately, completely ignoring Ye Feng standing beside them.

"Grandpa Jack," Tang San hesitated, "didn't you say our village only has one work-study student quota?"

"Yes. And that quota is yours."

"But Ye Feng's soul power is higher than mine."

"So what?" Old Jack snorted. "What can his useless martial soul become, no matter how much soul power he has?"

"It just… feels unfair," Tang San said softly.

"I'm the village head. I raised him," Old Jack replied firmly. "If I gave the quota to him instead of you, that would be unfair to you."

With that, he led Tang San away.

Their voices gradually faded, leaving Ye Feng alone in the courtyard.

Ye Feng bent down, picked up a stone, and smashed it hard against the stone pillar engraved with the mark of the Spirit Hall.

"Damn it!"

Because Old Jack refused to give him the work-study quota, he wouldn't be able to enroll in Notting City's Junior Soul Master Academy.

Without entering the academy, he would have no one to guide him in hunting spirit beasts.

And without spirit rings, he couldn't grow stronger.

He couldn't even follow Tang San's original path—couldn't meet Xiao Wu.

Old Jack's decision had disrupted his entire plan.

Should he go find Su Yuntao instead and enter the Spirit Hall Academy?

Before leaving, Su Yuntao had told him that if he changed his mind, he could go to the Spirit Hall branch in Notting City.

Ye Feng frowned.

At that moment, Old Jack's earlier words echoed faintly from a distance.

"Little San, your talent is outstanding. It's just a pity you have such a father. If you had inherited a powerful martial soul, you might have become the second Soul Saint of our village."

Ye Feng narrowed his eyes.

Tang San's father?

He muttered to himself in a low voice.

"Tang San's father isn't simple at all. He's the Clear Sky Douluo—Tang Hao. One of the strongest beings in the entire continent."

"And Tang San inherited the Clear Sky Hammer."

"If I had a father like that… would I even need to worry about entering an academy?"

A trace of envy surfaced in his heart.

Ding!

A mechanical notification sounded in his mind.

"The system has detected that the host envies Tang San for having a father who is a titled Douluo."

"The system expresses dissatisfaction."

"Reward issued: The host will obtain a master who is a Titled Douluo."

Ye Feng froze.

"…You're kidding me, right?"

The Disobedience System truly lived up to its name.

If he envied someone, it simply refused to accept it.

He envied twin martial souls?

It gave him three.

He envied a Douluo father?

It would give him a Douluo master.

Ye Feng's heartbeat quickened.

"System… who exactly is this master?"

The system did not respond.

But Ye Feng knew one thing—

His fate had already begun to diverge completely from the original storyline.
