Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Awakening

The next morning,

He was fumbling through a book about awakening, that his predecessor had owned in preparation.

It talked about how, if you are lucky enough to awaken, most awaken a "normal" level persona gene, with some awakening a "rare" gene. Also talks about how even if it's only normal to start, the Persona gene can evolve in power, the higher you go. This is unlike Imprinted Genes, who stay at the level they are imprinted at. The levels of the persona genes are: normal, rare, elite, and legendary.

This is a separate power system compared to imprinted genes that are your basic leveling of F-Grade being the weakest all the way to S-Grade being the strongest depending on the strength of the beast killed for it.

He shut the book and got up to leave.

"Well let's give this one last shot I guess and see what life we will lead in this world."

He headed to the giant tower in the distance that he could see from his apartment.

Upon, arrival he got in to the queue of people. Some he recognized from his predecessors memories as people who had also failed to awaken yet.

He slowly worked is way up, thinking of possibilities on both the side of awakening and the side of not awakening.

He couldn't lie, he was in agreement with his predecessor, in that, awakening and becoming a gene fighter would be amazing and an adventure of a lifetime.

The morning, dredged on as he became lost in his thought and daydreams until he head his name "Renfield Wolfe"

He slowly walked up there trying not appear so excited. He put his hand on the orb and closed his eyes to try and "find his Gene Sequence" as his predecessor had done before and taught to do. He, at first, was sadden that he couldn't find anything as it was just darkness. Then, as he had all but given up, a orb started floating through his sea of consciousness and flashed a bright white light, where when it receded he could see a plain as day gene sequence. The bottom portion lit indicating his awakening, while the rest was darkened and lifeless.

What was strange and he couldn't recall in the book or any of his predecessors memories is the orb that was circling his genetic chain.

He shrugged it off as that was not important right now. Right now, he wanted to know what his persona gene was.

As the books said, he focused on the bottom of his gene sequence where his persona gene remained and honed in on it. He felt the information come to his head:

"Persona Gene: Normal

Stone Guardian: persons strength and durability are enhanced to a degree with skin resembling a stone surface"

A tank type, huh? Not bad it even as offensive capabilities with the enhancement to my strength as well.

He opened his eyes toe people cheering and the proctor smiling at him as he felt a warm sensation on his right wrist and he watched as two matte black bands formed around his wrist an inch apart from each other and half inch thick.
