Daniel Cross did not show up to their second meeting.
Instead, the news broke first.
"Explosion on Riverside Highway possible targeted attack."
Aria's stomach dropped.
She called him.
No answer.
Minutes later, her phone buzzed again.
Unknown number.
"I switched cars."
It was Daniel.
His voice shaking.
"They tampered with the first vehicle."
Aria felt ice crawl down her spine.
"You're not safe," she whispered.
"Neither are you."
They met in an underground parking garage beneath an abandoned hotel.
Ethan arrived first.
Aria noticed something different about him.
He wasn't dressed like a CEO.
No tailored suit.
No polished image.
Just a man who had decided to stop playing nice.
Daniel approached cautiously.
He handed Ethan a flash drive.
"Three backups," Daniel said. "One stored overseas. One sent automatically if I don't log in every 24 hours."
Ethan nodded. "Smart."
Daniel swallowed. "Your mother doesn't forgive betrayal."
"She taught me that," Ethan replied.
They plugged the drive into a laptop.
Files opened.
Spreadsheets. Wire transfers. Shell corporations registered under false names.
But the signatures were real.
Margaret Kingsley.
Victor Hale.
Joint authorizations.
Profit splits.
Fifteen years of coordinated manipulation.
Aria's hands trembled as she scrolled.
"This covers my father's collapse."
"And six others," Daniel added quietly.
Six other companies destroyed the same way.
Asset inflation.
Forced bankruptcy.
Strategic buyouts.
Ethan leaned back slowly.
"She didn't just protect the empire."
"She fed it," Aria whispered.
The weight of it was suffocating.
Not a mistake.
Not a desperate act.
A system.
Built on calculated ruin.
Ethan closed the laptop.
No hesitation this time.
"No more press."
"No more warnings."
Daniel hesitated. "If you submit this to federal investigators, the fallout will be nuclear."
Ethan's voice was steady.
"Then let it explode."
They drove directly to the Federal Financial Crimes Division.
No media.
No announcement.
Just evidence.
As they walked toward the entrance, cameras were already flashing someone had tipped them off.
Margaret was watching.
Aria knew it.
Ethan squeezed her hand.
"If this destroys Kingsley Global…"
"We'll build something better," she replied.
For the first time, they weren't acting out of anger.
Or revenge.
Or heartbreak.
They were acting out of alignment.
Truth over blood.
Justice over legacy.
And that made them unstoppable.
Inside the building, as the doors closed behind them…
Margaret Kingsley received a call.
"They've submitted everything."
For the first time in years…
She stopped smiling.
Do you think Margaret will surrender quietly… or take someone down with her?
