The Unexpected Meeting
Amelia adjusted the strap of her tote bag and sighed. She had spent the morning running errands, and now she was late for her first day as an assistant at one of the most prestigious marketing firms in the city. She could already feel her stomach twisting with nerves.
As she rushed through the glass doors, she collided with a tall, sharply dressed man. Papers flew everywhere, and a sleek briefcase toppled to the floor.
"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry!" Amelia exclaimed, bending down to help him gather the scattered papers.
He looked down at her, dark eyes sharp and calculating. "You need to watch where you're going," he said, his voice calm but commanding.
"I—I'm really sorry, I didn't mean to—" she stammered.
He barely glanced at her, yet something in his expression softened. He bent down and picked up a folder, holding it out to her. "Are you always this clumsy, or is it just today?"
Amelia's cheeks heated. "I guess… just today."
He let out a small, almost imperceptible smile. "I'm Adrian Kane," he said, extending his hand. "CEO of Kane Industries."
Amelia froze. Her heart skipped a beat. Adrian Kane… the man whose reputation preceded him, known for being ruthless in business and untouchable in society. And now he was standing in front of her, holding a folder and giving her that piercing look that made her feel like he could see straight into her soul.
"I… I'm Amelia Turner," she managed to reply, shaking his hand.
"Pleasure," he said simply, but there was a strange intensity in his gaze.
Just then, his phone buzzed. Adrian glanced at it, then back at her. "Seems I have to leave, but I expect to see you at the office tomorrow."
Amelia nodded, feeling both thrilled and terrified. Her life was about to change — and she had no idea how dramatically.
As he walked away, Amelia realized something important: this was no ordinary CEO, and this was no ordinary day.
