Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Learning Craft.

Anam, the villager whose wife Sukuna saved, was currently beating his hammer in a rhythmic fashion, creating a wooden door.

Beside him, the unofficial strongest demon of the contemporary world sat in silence, observing his work.

"Do you need anything else?" Sukuna asked after seeing Anam stop.

"The door is done, Mr. Sukuna. Now we just need to put it in place."

"Oh, let me help you."

Sukuna easily lifted up the wooden door with one hand, making Anam rub his head before saying,

"Even though I've seen it before, I have to say you're very strong....."

"Indeed, I'm the strongest," Sukuna replied in a casual tone.

Then, under Anam's lead, they placed the door in position, finally completing his log house.

It wasn't anything grand, but it was something he had built himself.

Though it was still dark as hell inside without any windows.

After cutting open an opening for the light to seep in, Anam went back to the village.

The village needed to be repaired after all.

Sukuna picked up the cooked fish from the fireplace and chewed on it.

'How bland.'

He commented in his mind. The unseasoned fish tasted utterly bland.

Its only plus point being that it was super fresh—he had literally caught it from the ocean an hour ago.

After having his lunch, Sukuna entered the house and lay down on his bed made up of hay to take an afternoon nap.

But not long after, he suddenly opened his eyes and turned his head, sensing several magic signatures approaching his way.

Walking out of his log house, he saw a group of villagers standing outside.

Before Sukuna could say something, Erde, who was part of the crowd, took a step forward and said,

"Mr. Sukuna, these villagers were injured during the attack. As you said, they've come here for healing."

'So soon?' Sukuna thought in his mind while looking at the injured villagers.

Most of them were covered in makeshift bandages. Some of them were even missing an arm or leg....

Still, he thought it would take them more time to trust a demon.

Perhaps they were more scared of potentially becoming disabled than dealing with a demon.

"Alright, line up. I'll heal you one by one."

Sukuna said as the villagers quickly formed a line.

Looking at the man missing an arm before him, Sukuna spoke before healing him.

"You got something to cover windows with? Like glass?"

"No glass, but I do have curtains....."

"Curtains? Ok, but you'll have to help me with some work as well."

"Ok, but..... does this mean you can heal me?"

Instead of replying, Sukuna grabbed his shoulder and channeled his mana.

The flesh on the man's shoulder trembled as the bandages ripped open, and a brand-new hand appeared in place.

"M-my arm!"

The man's eyes widened in disbelief as he shouted in an incredulous tone.

Every other villager also stared at the man in shock, unable to believe their eyes.

As Sukuna was wondering what was up with the commotion, Erde suddenly came beside him and asked in an excited voice,

"M-Mr. Sukuna! Y-you can even heal lost arms??"

Sukuna gave her a weird look while pointing at the man he had just healed.

"Of course, can't you see?"

"B-but Uncle Haron lost his arm years ago.... This time he was here to cure his stomach issue....."

Well, how was he supposed to know that?

Scratching his chin, Sukuna pointed at the next woman in line and said,

"You coming or what?"

"Y-yes!"

The woman quickly took a step forward and came before Sukuna, ready to be healed.

She promised him some clothes and a new bathing towel before he healed her.

Afterwards, he healed every one of them and received all sorts of things in return.

Especially a few things, which were quite out of the ordinary.

It was a magic book.

Sukuna looked at the magic book in his hand with interest.

It contained a spell that helped him catch rats.

A very unconventional magic—he couldn't help but wonder which great wizard had been bored enough to come up with it.

Although the spell was simple, it helped him gain a better understanding of magic in this world.

Sukuna spent a few hours learning the spell, then cast it randomly.

His hand glowed for a moment before returning back to normal.

Nothing happened, meaning there were no rats near him.

Putting the magic book on a shelf he had received from the villagers, he lay down on his bed and went off to sleep.

The next day—

"M-Mr. Sukuna! A dragon is attacking the village!!"

He was greeted by a not-so-pleasant surprise.
