Chapter 2 - I Need Food!

"So, I only have seven days to find civilization and....do the deed." Lizzy groaned, blinking away the system display with a thought. She hated the idea that aliens were currently watching her as she stood naked in the midst of giant trees. Her stomach rumbled with hunger and she uncovered her breasts long enough to pat it comfortingly.

"Food. First, food. Then, clothes. Finally, shelter." Her words became a mantra as she slowly began to stumble her way through the thick layer of leaves and twigs on the ground. Lizzy was cautious the first few paces, trying to avoid anything sharp under the layer of leaves but soon her growling stomach over rode her senses. If she could find food she would have the motivation to continue.

An hour or two passed before Lizzy felt the temperature under the trees begin to change and she realized the daylight on this planet had begun to fade. What little beams she had been able to see through the leaves had stopped hitting the forest floor and she swallowed heavily. She had not accounted for the fact that the temperature would drop so drastically.

{Ding!}

{New Quest Unlocked: Basic Survival

In order to compete in the games you need to survive your first night. While the advanced human body can live without food for several days, it cannot survive freezing temperatures and dehydration without a little help.

Objective: Survive the night, find a shelter, find water

Rewards: Fertility Pill x1, Basic Beastman Outfit, System Coin x1}

The quest didn't seem too complicated, but Lizzy knew that survival could be difficult even with modern tools. To be dumped onto a strange planet with nothing but a system meant that this could kill her. "Wait," Lizzy peered closely at the quest description, "advanced human body? What do you mean? And a system coin? Maybe I could buy things like food."

She waited for more information from the system, before shaking her head and continuing her walk. When the silence prevailed and she realized that she would be receiving no help, she sighed. It was at this point that Lizzy found a small gap in the trees and spotted something welcoming. There was a cave up ahead and while there was a risk of wild animals involved, it also meant shelter from the elements. Considering it had begun to rain, the shelter would be a welcome one.

Lizzy gathered some fresh green leaves from the trees around her before moving towards the cave with eagerness. She could create a small pile of leaves a few feet into the cave, be protected from the rain, and still close enough to the exit to make a quick getaway should she need to.

After examining the cave, Lizzy found that it stretched much farther back than she could see. She saw no recent signs that anything living was there, but there did seem to be a tunnel towards the back that stretched farther than she thought. A cold chill swept across her spine and she swore not to go adventuring any farther than she was prepared for right now. Instead, Lizzy focused on gathering leaves from the surrounding forest into a small pile so she could rest comfortably. Then, she used one of the largest leaves that she found to cup into her hands and gather some much needed water.

Despite finding a few fruit in the forest, she was hesitant to eat anything she didn't recognize. "It would be nice to have an identification skill."

{Identification Skill can be bought from the System Store. Many skills and items can be bought on the store should the Contestant have enough coins. Once the initial seven day betting period is over, Contestants may also receive donations from sponsors among the Universe Elite Viewers.}

Lizzy blinked rapidly, taking a small mouthful of water from the cupped leaf in her hand that she was using to gather rain water. Her eyes narrowed in thought at the latest system message and she realized something crucial. The betting system seemed to be set up exactly like some of the dystopian novels that she had read on Earth.

After taking several small mouthfuls of water, Lizzy made her way back towards her leaf pile. She was cold, goosebumps rising along her exposed skin. Her chances of surviving the night were few and she wrapped her arms around her middle in a desperate attempt to capture her warmth. She was determined to survive.
