Chapter 52 - Chapter 52 - Queen Sophia

The Lost Vampire System Chapter 52 - Queen Sophia

"Sh*t," Jareth muttered as he grabbed his backpack.

"What is it?" Madison asked as she started to walk toward Jareth, who was opening his backpack.

"Get away!" Jareth barked, which scared the others a little.

"You're in luck," Apollo said. "You can trust the people in this room to a certain extent. Now you just have to make sure that the baby ant sees only you first."

"Jareth," Damion said with concern.

"Get back," Jareth said more calmly this time as he took the top shirt off, and he could see the egg had a small crack in it.

"I'm trusting you guys with this," Jareth said as he gently pulled the egg out of his backpack.

The others looked at the egg, wondering what it was, when another crack appeared.

"Agh," Madison gasped as she backed away. "Is that an egg."

"Yes," Jareth said casually, "and the first person she needs to see is me."

"So that's why you stopped Henry from going into your backpack," Damion said. "Is that a Becifer egg? I didn't know they had eggs.

"They don't," Arden said as she was at the back of the room. "To this day, we don't know how they reproduce."

"Thirty seconds," the system warned as more cracks started to form.

"Either get out of the room or hide yourself," Jareth ordered.

Arden quickly went over to her bed as she pulled her sheets off and hid under them at the foot of the bed.

"Feel free to join," she announced, and to Jareth's surprise, they all got under it.

"I'm not missing this even if I can't look," Damion said.

"Ten seconds."

The egg started to rattle more as cracks started to form.

"Don't say anything," Jareth said as the cracks connected and a piece fell to the floor.

More little pieces started to fall until it completely fell apart as the baby ant queen was revealed. Jareth tilted his head slightly as the baby ant queen did not look like he expected. Instead of looking something like a traditional ant, she appeared to have the upper half of a human and the lower half of an ant queen. The upper half looked like a smaller version of a 20-year-old woman with tan human skin, but she had dark red ant skin running up the sides of her stomach and completely wrapping around her chest. She had curly jet-black hair with a single pair of arms like a human. Her lower half was a long dark red gaster where the queen will produce the eggs in the future. She had six dark red legs.

The little queen was shaking off a piece of egg that was stuck to her back as she looked around from the bottom shell of her egg. When she noticed Jareth, she looked up at him with her bright green eyes. She smiled like when parents would play peekaboo with their child.

"Congratulations," the Draven system said. "The Sovereign Stinger has recognized you as her parent. You have tamed the Sovereign Stinger Empress of the Endless Swarm. Threat level: Simple, low. Able to Evolve. The ant queen grows quickly, and she'll be able to start laying eggs in 6 months. If you feed her a high-power crystal before that, she may be able to lay a couple beforehand."

The little queen giggled as she tried to get her papa's attention. Jareth smiled back at her as he rubbed her head, and the system continued.

"Would you like to give the Sovereign Stinger a name?"

Jareth believed that it was only right to give the little Becifer child a name. So that's what he pondered on for the next minute, which made the room completely silent as he came up with one. The other three were tempted to look out but decided to wait.

"Sophia," Jareth said out loud.

"You have bestowed upon the Sovereign Stinger a name: Sophia," it notified Jareth. "You have officially bonded with Sophia and unlocked the ability to telepathically communicate with her. Please note that you still have to feed her."

"Papa," a little voice said to him in his mind as Jareth looked at Sophia.

Sophia, Jareth thought to her, and she tried to do a little jump but didn't get off of the egg due to her having a large gaster.

"You can come on out," Jareth said as he carefully picked up little Sophia and wrapped her in his shirt.

The three of them slowly peeked out from under Arden's sheets, and they could see what looked like pieces of eggshell on the floor along with Jareth holding something. Damion got out first as he approached.

"Is that a little human?" Damion questioned, which prompted the two girls to come out from under the sheets.

"No," Jareth said as he held on to her. "This here is Sophia."

Damion stopped walking as he looked at her and noticed the dark red skin running up her sides and covering her chest. The other two approached and looked at little Sophia, who shyly did a cute little wave at them.

Arden did a little wave back, which made the little ant giggle.

I like her, Sophia telepathically said to Jareth.

Author's note: Usually, for Apollo, I use quotes when he speaks because he only talks to Jareth in his head. When Jareth and Sophia telepathically communicate, I will present it as thoughts but let you know that they are talking to each other, like what I do when Jareth is talking to Apollo. I hope that by doing this, there will be no confusion. Essentially, if they have a body, it will be represented as thoughts. With that, please continue.

"Can she hear me?" Apollo asked. "Sophia."

Sophia didn't respond as she kept on looking curiously at the three of them.

"I guess not," Apollo said. "At least I can hear her."

"Is she a Becifer?" Damion asked as he did a little finger wave at the little queen, who giggled.

Jareth nodded as he answered Damion. "She is an Evolvable Becifer called the Sovereign Stinger, or just an ant queen."

"An ant queen!" the three said in surprise, which made Sophia giggle.

That's me, she thought to Jareth.

"Yes," Jareth said as he smiled at the three. "In a few months, she will be able to start laying little ant soldiers that she will be able to telepathically command. As of right now, she is a Simple low-tier Becifer, but if I feed her crystals, she can get stronger and birth more powerful ants."

"You'll be in charge of an ant army," Damion said in slight awe. "What the factions would do to either get her or kill her."

Sophia pulled up the shirt as she heard kill her. Jareth gently brushed her hair, which seemed to calm her down.

"We're on the same side," Jareth said. "I know that what is happening today is a lot, but I hope that you'll protect her."

There was silence before Madison stepped forward.

"I have already sworn to you, Jareth Nightshade," she said in a proud tone. "This little one will be protected."

The other two looked at her, feeling like they missed something that those two did.

"Did you two start establishing a faction hierarchy already?"

"Uh," Jareth said, but Madison answered instead.

"We are not a standard faction," she said. "We don't want to be like the others. I swore to Jareth because of what he stands for, which is change. A change in the system, society, and in the world entirely. That is what I swore to."

Jareth's eye twitched at what she said. Madison swore because she wanted to be in what she perceived as the future strong inner circle, not for change, unless she meant change in power.

She is part demon, Jareth thought. I hope that will still benefit me.

"Ok," Damion said as he assumed a kneeling position, which Jareth wanted to stop him from doing but held back, not wanting to fling his hands out like he was about to and hurt little Sophia. "I, Damion Youngblood, swear my allegiance to Jareth Nightshade."

Sophia sat up straight when she heard this.

My name is Sophia, not Jareth, she thought. Papa is Jareth, and I am Sophia.

Jareth smiled as he heard Sophia's little voice, as she nodded at Damion, which he too noticed as he stood up.

"Little Sophia approves," Jareth said as she giggled.

Madison and Damion looked at Arden and then looked at the group.

"You don't need too—"

"No, no, it's ok," Arden interrupted. "I already got what Madison got, and I see the title. I should swear my allegiance to the king and queen."

Jareth's eye twitched again as Sophia was literally just born, but he just thought that Arden was roleplaying since she did, in fact, create a gaming world. Arden knelt down like what Damion did.

"I, Arden Voss, swear my loyalty to Jareth Nightshade."

My name is Sophia, but I accept, little Sophia thought as she clapped her hands. I knew I liked her.

"Sophia likes you," Jareth said.

Arden smiled as she stood back up.

"Now," Arden said. "How are we going to hide adorable little Sophia?"
