Chapter 53 - Information

Jieming felt a sense of bewilderment.

For several days now, elemental fluctuations had been emanating from a particular direction. As time passed, these fluctuations grew increasingly violent. Even from a great distance, Jieming could sense an unusually ferocious aura.

Since his primary goal in participating in this trial was to develop and test his rune-imbued magical artifact, Jieming had no intention of collaborating with other wizard apprentices. Naturally, he hadn't bothered acquiring communication witchcraft devices or similar tools.

As a result, he had no idea what was actually happening in that area.

But that wasn't a problem. If curiosity struck, he could simply go see for himself.

After several days of testing, Jieming was quite confident in the combat capabilities of his rune-imbued magical artifact. He believed that ordinary apprentices would pose little threat to him.

Even if something major was unfolding there, he could simply observe the spectacle without getting involved.

Having made his decision, Jieming immediately adjusted his course and began moving toward the source of the elemental fluctuations.

He maintained his hunter's mindset, advancing while using alchemy and analysis art to scour the surroundings, collecting any materials that piqued his interest.

As he approached the area, his peripheral vision caught sight of several disheveled figures.

Several wizard apprentices were stumbling and fleeing in disarray.

Their faces were pale, their wizard's robes torn, and their Magic Shields flickered weakly, like candles in a storm.

Behind them, a pursuing indigenous warband of about a hundred warriors pressed relentlessly.

This indigenous force was equipped with superior armor and weapons, and the enhanced strength surging through their bodies was far more potent, clearly marking them as elite troops.

"Run faster! They're gaining on us!"

"Damn it! My mental power can't hold out any longer!"

"If we can just break free of their Space Confinement field, we can escape!"

Amidst the chaotic shouts, wizard apprentices occasionally broke away from the group with sudden bursts of speed, their figures twisting and vanishing from the spot.

Judging by their movements, they were activating escape rings.

In the end, only two unlucky apprentices remained, having exhausted their trump cards or lacked the mental power to break free from their pursuers.

Desperate screams echoed as the two apprentices staggered, their movements nearing exhaustion.

The indigenous soldiers' eyes gleamed with bloodlust as they closed in, their spears and axes pressing relentlessly.

Jieming frowned slightly. He detected a familiar energy signature emanating from the pursuing force—the same type he had encountered with the ambushers earlier.

Judging by the direction the wizard apprentices were fleeing, they must have escaped from the source of the elemental fluctuations.

Driven by curiosity, Jieming acted decisively.

Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!

Several fireballs silently erupted from his fingertips, carrying terrifying heat as they instantly locked onto the leading indigenous soldiers.

The indigenous warriors, possessing extraordinary power, didn't even have time to cry out before the fireballs engulfed them, reducing them to twisted, charred remains.

Immediately afterward, a torrential rain of fireballs descended from the sky, engulfing the remaining indigenous pursuers.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The relentless bombardment instantly wiped out the majority of the pursuing forces.

The stragglers and the two apprentices, caught off guard, were stunned by the explosive shockwaves.

The surviving indigenous soldiers froze in terror, unable to comprehend how their comrades had been instantly deprived of life without any visible attack.

The sheer horror of the scene instinctively drove them to flee.

Rumble!

The ground trembled violently as a dozen massive rock spikes erupted from the earth, instantly impaling the remaining indigenous soldiers.

"Using alchemy to control matter for attacks still falls short of perfection..."

Jieming pursed his lips and slowly descended to the ground, walking toward the two surviving wizard apprentices.

From the moment he launched his attack to its conclusion, the entire process took less than ten seconds.

The formidable pursuing force had been completely annihilated by Jieming's casual strike, leaving no survivors.

The two fleeing apprentices froze in place, staring at the fallen indigenous corpses behind them and at Jieming, who approached slowly from the distance as if he had merely swatted a few flies. Their faces were etched with disbelief and shock.

"You... you..." one apprentice stammered, unable to form a coherent sentence.

Jieming stopped before them, ignoring their astonishment. "What's happening in the distance?" he asked directly. "The elemental fluctuations are highly abnormal."

The apprentices finally snapped out of their daze and began to explain everything that had transpired in the valley, their words tumbling over each other in a rush.

"A Space Confinement with a one-kilometer radius?" A flicker of interest flashed in Jieming's eyes.

During his earlier encounter with the indigenous people, his analysis art had detected a peculiar energy signature emanating from them, seemingly capable of disrupting spatial stability.

But a confinement of such immense scale was beyond his expectations.

To achieve such a feat, even a wizard would need to be at least fourth-tier, wouldn't they?

But if there truly were fourth-tier wizards among the indigenous forces, these apprentices couldn't have held out for so long.

"Yes! We fought tooth and nail to break through the perimeter, thinking we could escape. But they had specialized pursuit teams waiting for us..." The apprentices spoke with lingering fear, cautiously observing Jieming.

The man before them had casually annihilated an elite squad of indigenous warriors. Such power was far beyond what ordinary apprentices could possess.

Fortunately, Jieming didn't press them further. Seeing this, the two apprentices breathed a sigh of relief, thanked him, activated their escape rings, and vanished from the Greyrock Realm.

"War... sounds awfully dangerous."

After hearing the apprentices' account, Jieming had no intention of getting involved.

To him, the fate of those thousands of apprentices was irrelevant. After all, they were all competitors in this trial. His primary concern was how many valuable materials this plane could provide.

Moreover, intervening in such a large-scale war carried immense risks with minimal rewards. He'd be better off spending his time searching for rare materials.

"Time to slip away," Jieming declared decisively, turning to resume his treasure hunt.

Unexpectedly, before he could seek them out, they came looking for him.

Just as Jieming turned to leave, his alchemy and analysis arts detected multiple powerful life and energy signatures rapidly converging on his position from various directions.

Not just one or two squads, but dozens of teams had somehow formed a encirclement around him.

These forces included formidable "knights" and "shamans," clearly the main force of the Indigenous Allied Forces!

He halted, his sharp gaze sweeping across the approaching threats.

"What's going on? Have they discovered me?" Jieming frowned slightly.

He couldn't recall leaving any traces. His previous skirmishes had been swift and clean, without alerting the main forces.
