'Crayon V. Wyatt,' I chanted my True Name in my mind, trying to invoke the True Name Sutra Gion tattoo and sense my Will as fuel. I waited, but nothing happened. My patience waned, and a frown crept onto my face seeing that the Gion tattoo wasn't working. That made no sense, as it was etched on my skin flawlessly.
I racked my brain trying to figure out what had gone wrong, but nothing made sense. The tattoo was correct, the invocation was correct, and yet it still refused to respond. Just as I was about to give up and seek professional help, a thought suddenly crossed my mind. Without wasting a second, I tried invoking the Gion tattoo again, chanting in my mind, "□□□□□□ V. Wyatt."
To my surprise, the reddish hue of my Gion tattoo began to hum, as if it had come alive. Instantly, I could sense my Will and its source, my soul. On this Earth, the existence of the soul within the body had long been proven. But sensing it directly was another matter entirely. Even among Grimlocks, very few could perceive their own soul, and those who could were powerful figures within the entire Grimlock community.
I believed this was only possible because of my Martial Unity ability. The True Name Sutra Gion tattoo was merely the means that allowed it to happen.
Out of this whole string of fortunate events, what surprised me most was realizing that my real name counted as my True Name, not Crayon's. That meant I was completely myself. I hadn't fused with Crayon at all. I had simply inherited the memories left behind in his body. The realization lifted a weight off my mind. It also meant that I no longer had to worry about the true name sutra's drawback, as no one knew my true name.
Still, it raised another question. If that was the case, why did my Cypher Card list my name as Crayon V. Wyatt? I decided not to dwell on it and moved on to the matter at hand.
'True Force,' I invoked in my head as I willed my intent to lift the book on the study table. Soon, the book rose and hovered in the air. Simultaneously, I willed the chair to rise as well, and it lifted off the floor and hung there beside it.
As long as my 'Intent' was clear and I had enough 'Will' to support it, the 'True force' carried out the command perfectly. In a way, it felt like a telekinesis ability.
I started using True Force on everything I could think of to lift, pull, push, and grip. I even tried it on myself. Soon I was floating above my bed, held up by an invisible force. Carefully, I began moving around the room. At first, I was clumsy. I drifted awkwardly, like someone floating in a vacuum with no sense of direction. But once I got the hang of it, I started using True Force's push and pull to propel myself. Before long, I was gliding around the room as if I could actually fly.
I noticed something interesting. The more excited and joyful I felt while using True Force, the easier it became for me to keep using it, as I had this sudden abundance of will to do so. It slowly dawned on me that my emotions had a direct influence on my Will.
I had been flying around the room for nearly ten minutes by then, yet I felt no exhaustion at all. If anything, I was growing more energetic. The more excited I became about flying with True Force, the stronger my Will seemed to flow. It felt like a loop, a kind of emotional feedback where excitement fed my Will, and my Will fueled the true force. Almost like a small perpetual engine running inside me.
It also dawned on me that this initial excitement would fade eventually, and my perpetual engine with it. Unless I figured out a way or ability to command my emotions. Be that as it may, I moved on to try imbuing myself and objects with true force.
I first used it on my senses, starting with hearing, then vision, smell, touch, and taste. One by one, I began to understand both the blessing and the curse of heightened senses.
I had always thought nights were quiet. They weren't. I could hear my neighbors snoring through the walls, even the occasional fart in their sleep. When I sharpened my vision, I realized no surface was truly smooth, not even my own skin. Every tiny ridge and pore stood out.
My sense of touch became so sensitive that even the stale air in my stinking room felt rough against my skin. Fortunately, I could control it. Otherwise, living while seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling, and tasting everything at that level would have been unbearable. Maybe I would have gotten used to it with time and training, but sometimes ignorance was bliss.
Then I used True Force to strengthen my body and imbue the paper of the book. My muscles swelled beneath my skin, tightening and hardening until I looked like a Mister Olympia contestant. At the same time, the paper grew denser and tougher. Its edges sharpened enough to slice like a thin blade.
Though I didn't get the chance to test True Stealth, the True Name Sutra had proven to be everything it promised. Now it was time to see if it could be everything I expected it to be.
That was if I could use False Fate to override the drawback of the True Name Sutra. This wasn't for myself, but it was for convincing everyone else in the Grimlock community. I needed a believable explanation for why I could use the True Name Sutra Gion tattoo without suffering from its usual drawbacks. It didn't have to be true, as long as it was convincing. Still, it would be better if it actually were true.
