Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: The Battle Plan

With the idle personnel removed, the Alliance meeting finally began.

Acnologia was in no mood to preside over the meeting, so the King of Phylos arranged the operations.

The first point was the distribution of participants:

First was the tally of Dragon Slayer Mages. The kings reported the number of people they could commit to frontal combat one by one; some had as few as a hundred, while others had over a thousand, totaling 14,800 people.

Another two thousand were kept in reserve. If the war could be won or was at a stalemate, these last two thousand would be fully committed. If the war had a high probability of failure, these two thousand would scatter and flee, preserving the final hope for the future.

Then there were the armies that mastered ordinary magic, totaling three million people. Their magic was hardly effective against dragons, so they could serve as magical support, cannon fodder, meat shields, or healers, doing their best to create opportunities for the Dragon Slayer Mages to kill dragons.

Every Dragon Slayer Mage was assigned three hundred support troops. After the meeting, the magic of all Mages would be tallied to make rational assignments.

The second point was food and currency.

A war is not won overnight; food is essential. Since production varied by country, how much each could provide was left to their own discretion.

However, the King of Phylos sent people specifically to keep track. If any kingdom intentionally slacked off or cheated, they would not be tolerated.

The location for storing food was tentatively set in the Phylos Kingdom because it had a powerful defensive magic array. Even if attacked by dragons, it had a high probability of holding out. Food could be transported to the battlefield via Space Magic.

Funds were also provided jointly by the nations. The currency of this era was Magic Crystals, primarily used to restore magic power for Mages. In this magic-impoverished era, means of recovery were indispensable.

Moreover, the soldiers needed motivation. It was unrealistic to expect them to risk their lives solely based on passion and a sense of responsibility.

The third point was the location of the war.

This was very likely not something they could choose. However, they could issue a challenge to all Dragon Kings and try to select desolate areas. After all, a single dragon's roar could change the landscape; terrain warfare no longer mattered.

The fourth point was the start time of the war.

This was to be determined. Once their layout was complete and the civilians had been migrated, the final battle would begin, with an estimated time of three months.

This was the result of a brief discussion among the kings. Unexpected events were not ruled out; if a kingdom suffered a dragon siege in the interim, neighboring kingdoms would do their best to assist.

The meeting ended, the group began to disband, and the kings left one after another.

Before leaving, the Bald King invited Acnologia to visit his kingdom, but he was refused.

If I'm going to visit, it has to be after the great war. By then, it's hard to say if your kingdom will even still exist.

Acnologia felt this Bald King was somewhat interesting and suddenly asked, "What is the name of your kingdom?"

The Bald King looked delighted upon hearing this and said, "The Kingdom of Fiore. If you come to visit, I can arrange anything you need."

His kingdom was a medium-sized one with a total population of over seven million and seven thousand Mages. However, facing the occasional dragon attacks, it still faced the risk of destruction.

If a powerhouse like Acnologia were stationed there, the situation would be completely different; even a Dragon King wouldn't dare to offend them lightly.

"The Kingdom of Fiore?"

Acnologia was surprised. This was interesting. The Kingdom of Fiore was the center of the future plot, and the Fairy Tail Guild was in Magnolia Town. In the future, he might actually go there to settle down.

He thought for a moment and said, "Does your kingdom have a place called Magnolia Town?"

"No, it doesn't."

The Bald King shook his head. The kingdom was only so big, and he was certain it didn't exist.

"Forget it! If it's not there, it's not there. Just record me as the hero who saved the world in your kingdom's history later."

Acnologia spoke casually, not really caring. After all, it was four hundred years later; who knew what the future would be like.

With that, he left with the Dragon Slayer team.

"Hero?"

The Bald King looked at Acnologia's back and scratched his reflective forehead, unable to understand why this man wanted a hollow title. Looking at his personality, he didn't seem like the type to care about such things.

Magnolia Town... that can be arranged. I just need to find a random town and change its name.

Moreover, I can change the ownership of the town to Acnologia. That way, if Acnologia visits and is happy, he might stay... While the human side was actively preparing, the Evil Dragons and Good Dragons were the first to start the war.

Just two months after the alliance's combat meeting, a human traitor defected to the Evil Dragons and informed them of the Kingdom Alliance's plan.

This news made the Evil Dragons nervous as well. Although humans were as weak as ants before them, with the creation of Dragon Slaying Magic, many dragons had fallen one after another, and even Dragon King Level dragons had perished. This situation gave them a sense of crisis.

Most importantly, there was the Dragon Slayer Mage Acnologia. The existence of this monster was simply incredible. Clearly a weak human, he could transform into a pitch-black demonic dragon, and slaughtering ordinary dragons was as simple as eating or drinking.

Humans were vast in number and had terrifying potential. They had to be destroyed as soon as possible, and monsters like Acnologia must not be allowed to continue appearing.

The King of Red Dragons, Osta, was the leader of the Evil Dragons. He took the lead and united with other Dragon Kings to make an announcement to all the dragons in the world. Ten thousand dragons assembled and began an indiscriminate extermination of the human race.

The Good Dragons also couldn't sit still when they saw the humans planning a decisive battle. Although they liked humans, they were dragons after all. Once the Evil Dragons were eliminated, they might also be targeted or even killed by the humans.

Previously, humans had no dragon-slaying techniques, so they could coexist peacefully. Now, they felt a Sword of Damocles hanging over their heads.

One-third of the Good Dragons chose to join the Evil Dragons, some chose to be bystanders, and the remaining Good Dragons stood unwaveringly on the side of the humans.

They had lived with humans for a long time, and more importantly, they had been saved by humans. Realizing that the Evil Dragons were preparing to attack while the Human Alliance was still preparing, they were the first to strike, disregarding their own lives.

They would likely die in this battle, but being able to buy time for the humans was considered a way to repay the kindness from back then.

Before the war started, the Fire Dragon King Igneel, who was away training little Natsu, also received the news. Without a moment's delay, he quickly gathered the other four dragons.

They temporarily entrusted The Five Children to the guardian of the Eclipse Gate, Anna Heartfilia, while they went to the battlefield to join the fight.

As the strongest Dragon King of the Good Dragons, he was the only one who could rival the King of Red Dragons, Osta.

If they did not return from this battle, Anna Heartfilia would take The Five Children to the future alone.
