Sienna sat quietly in the living room and listened as Lucien explained everything that had happened in Casa City.
She had already known that House Silver was in trouble. She had expected political pressure, retaliation, and perhaps another attempt to find the Spatial Farm. What she had not expected was how quickly the failed attack on Harold had turned into a threat to the entire structure of House Silver.
The room was quiet except for the faint crackling of the fire.
Sienna lowered her eyes and rested one hand against the armrest of her chair.
A civil conflict inside House Silver would not remain inside House Silver.
The food crisis had already spread through the Silver Duchy. Merchants were hoarding grain, prices were unstable, and ordinary people were beginning to feel the pressure.
